anyone have any recommendations for Primm as far as hotels and activities? I am looking to stay there for two days when I visit LV this fall.
Thanks.

Living in so. Cal. we visit Primm often for quick Vegas fixes! LOL! The Bonnie and Clyde exhibit at the entrance to the big outlet mall is kinda cool and so is the shopping. We always stay at Buffalo Bills and the rooms are okay. When we are there we just gamble, shop and drink. Just like we do in Vegas!! Have a great trip! Oh, if you are into good food try GP's at The Primm. It is excellent food and service is always top notch!! Enjoy!!

since all the hotels in primm are owned by the same company (mgm mirage i think), they are all interconnected. i've stayed at buffalo bills on comps and it is "regular". clean rooms. but i find that the casino is a little tighter than most of the "local" places where i tend to play. perhaps that is because primm resorts are right on the california/nevada state line and many people make primm their first and last--or only stop--along the way from california. up the road a bit farther north on I 15 is jean. there you will find the goldstrike and nevada landing. the casinos are also owned by one company (mandalay bay maybe which is now mgm mirage) and are inter-connected. but there is a really fine steak house at the goldstrike. very small, intimate, cozy booths. dark wood and burgundy leather. jazz and pop classics like sinatra, bennet, et al. a lot like a steak house from old chicago or new york, if you're into retro. prices? well all good steaks are expensive and so are these. they serve real "prime" beef, not cheap cuts. average is maybe $30-35 per steak, depending on your preferred cut. drinks of course are extra. but again, the meat is prime meat and you don't have to deal with the big crowds you find at strip and near-strip steak joints. the service is very nice. the lobster bisque is delicious, but a bit on the salty side. i enjoy it so much that it's my preferred place for my birthday dinner. very romantic.
you will find for the most part that casinos in jean and primm are equipped with the "hand-me-down" machines from their parent companies as they have relative few of the newer machines you'll find on the strip and in the surrounding "locals" areas. most primm and jean machines still spit out quarters, nickels and dollar tokens.
all this said: enjoy. andrea from las vegas

My one stay in Jean found the casino full of broken machines, the food was truly bad (even the Burger King was sub-standard), and the roof leaked in our room. (we stayed there on the one night it rained).
Even worse, when we called to complain at 1:00am about the leak they said someone would be up the next morning when maintenance came on shift, but that was all they could do for us.
Primm seems much nicer and better put together, but I don't even stop for GAS in Jean any longer...

If you are going to stay in Primm, you might want to consider purchasing a Las Vegas Advisor membership to get a Pocketbook of Values. There is a 2/1 to GP's (not valid on holidays-closed M&T), a 2/1 for the Silver Spur at Whiskey Pete's (not valid on holidays & closed W&Th), 50% off (up to $25) at the Gold Strike Steakhouse and the Jade Room in Jean, and a free champagne brunch (Sat or Sun) for two in the Gold Strike steakhouse. It costs $37.50 to get a membership, but you could easily save that much and more if you are going to be in Las Vegas, too. If you are just looking for a place to stay, the book also offers a free night at both the Gold Strike and Nevada Landing in Jean (Sunday-Thursday).
We now live in Henderson and have eaten dinner at the Gold Strike steakhouse and have gone there for the brunch. We used coupons both times and enjoyed both very much. We also went to Nevada Landing for a free Sunday brunch and found it very poor. We have friends who like the Jade Room at Nevada Landing in Jean.
We stayed at the Primm Valley Resort two days and found the room to be adequate. We did, however, find the video poker and activities so lacking that we drove back to Las Vegas for the day.
Hope this helps,
Henderson Sue
