My wife and I are going to Vegas in June and we are wondering what kind of dress codes some of our dining choices have. We're willing to dress appropriately for the upscale places, but if we can get by with casual attire it would be nice. We don't want to go back to the hotel every night to change for dinner and wearing a tie all day doesn't work for me.

We plan to eat at the following resteraunts for Dinner:

Samba Brazilian (Mirage)
Craftsteak (MGM Grand)
Victorian Room (Barbary Coast)
Grill at Vallentino (Venetian)
Top of the World (Stratosphere)

We will also eat at a bunch of buffets, but I'm assuming those are all casual places.

Any advice would be appreciated.

,Matt

Matt - Dress codes are almost a thing of the past anymore in Las Vegas. Some of the really high end restaurants (like Picasso or Alex) tell you that "jackets are recommended for gentlemen" but I've dined in these places and have seen men without jackets in them. And ties are definitely not mandatory anymore. I'd venture to say that you can wear just about anything in restaurants (although shorts or ratty jeans might be prohibited in some of the nicer restaurants).

Of the restaurants you mentioned, I've only eaten at CraftSteak. I'd recommend dressing "business casual," a nice shirt and slacks would be appropriate. I don't think you need to do anything more than that but a sport coat might be a nice addition. (I hope you enjoy CraftSteak - it's my very favorite steakhouse in all of Las Vegas. Their filet mignon is roasted and is outstanding!) --Mike

There are very few restaurants that have a dress code, meaning at least a Jacket for the men. Casual or even business casual at the higher end restaurants is fine. Obviously you wouldn't want to wear shorts, T-Shirt or sneakers if this is romantic or upscale restaurant.

Eileen and I have been to Top Of The World, The Victorian Room (not considered upscale) and Craftsteaks and casual dress is accepted.

Top of the World you'll see most people are elegantly dressed. Not necessarily a jacket or tie, but very nice. My husband always dresses in either a suit or jacket and I dress to kill when we go out, but that's just us. Not sure if suits/jackets are required anywhere any more, but I do see that casual dress in jeans/t-shirt/sneakers is not the right choice for some like the Top of the World, Picasso, Michael's, Eiffel Tower, etc. Samba's is casual, but not sure about the other rest.'s you mentioned.

99.9% of the restaraunts accept casual dress. Colored shirts for the guys and the girls and pants or Bermuda shorts. As long as you are neat you shan't have a problem. Enjoy, relax, chill and have the time of your life. Vegas is Vegas and it just doesn't get any better than that.;)

i have taken a jacket most times to hit a nice restaurant but really isn't necessary. This year just dress slacks and a dress shirt and I'm sure I can dine anywhere

:) I agree with Tryon4... I brought my husband's suit and tie for a special dinner at Pommpelmousse (sp?) with our daughter for her graduation, and I didn't see another man in a suit there. Men were wearing nice, collared shirts and many were not even tucked (evidently the new style last year). No one wore jeans or looked in the least bit sloppy though. I think if you look neat, clean, and generally presentable you will fit in and be comfortable.
