I just went into the Red Cross Banner and made a donation - figured it's just a few less hands of VP next week while in Las Vegas. I'm lucky enough to still be able to go to LV and I have enjoyed gambling while in New Orleans so it's the least I can do. How about everybody else can I challenge you? JAC

I did it too, on-line. The Biloxi casinos were a frequent destination for me. My heart breaks for the people who lost loved ones, homes and jobs.

I gave at my office. When the hurricanes hit us last year a few offices around the country sent money to the agents here who lost everything, we are doing the same here. There is also a fund raiser another friend whose family is from NO is having up in Sarasota in a few weeks. We are donating to that. Everything used for the cocktail party will be donated including all the food and drinks, the servers are being paid through donations, items given for a silent auction, and tickets are $100 per person. All the money will go to the American Red Cross. I hope this will help many people.

My workplace is having a clothing drive to give to the Red Cross office to transport to New Orleans. So far it's going good. I can't amagine what they are going through.

Update: We have collected over 800 items (not bad for only have about 100 employees) of clothing for the Red Cross but unfortunely the Red Cross isn't taking any clothing they only want money and food. We are trying to contact the Salvation Army or United Way. Does anyone know if they will accept the clothing? Thanks

We had originally sent money to Salvation Army, I sent a second one thru Steve's banner. he is sending me Larry Jones tickets for LV next week.
My husbands work is having a clothes/supplies drive to mail down there too,
I had a blast shopping (using his money of course) - bought toys, baby clothes and such.

Yes you can, but I have given at my workplace who is matching every donation dollar for dollar.

Thanks to everyone who donated whether it has been from the ELV website or any other source.

What I will do is when my members have claimed all the free tickets to the Larry G.Jones show that Larry has donated for this cause, I will offer the remaining tickets to members who have made donations elsewhere.

They are good until the end of the year and will be given out on a first come, first served basis.

I will let you know when this will start. Do not posts your requests at this site. I will give you all that info when I have have met my obligation to the current contributors.

I am from Houston, Texas. I donated money to the Salvation Army, and we bought sundries and delivered them to one of the shelters in Houston, as well and 10 portable radios (which, BTW, they really need) and volunteered the 4 days of Labor Day Weekend at the George Brown Convention Center. Although the donations have since been moved to a warehouse, I still bring radios directly to the individuals when I can. I'm very proud of Houston's involvement as well as everyone else's.

As a new member to this site, I just want to thank everybody for their generosity and their thoughts. I am from Mississippi and though I only suffered small damage as a result of Hurricane Katrina, it makes it difficult to be here and watch what has happened to my wonderful state. I love Mississippi and I'm very proud of the way we pulled together to help each other. Again, thank you very much and maybe I'll see ya'll in Vegas in Dec.

Pam :)

Way to go!
