I will be in Vegas this weekend (16-18 October) and will have a rental car. I am staying at Best Western Mardi Gras (near convention center).

I am interested in someplace off the strip for dinner on Friday and Saturday. Romance, price, value, food are all considerations. Anyplace that the locals rave about?

Thanks for your help

Try Primos Steakhouse At The Suncoast Casino.

for value, you can't beat the $4.99 complete steak dinner at Ellis Island. You get a good steak, baked potato, salad, veggie and rolls for that price. k :p

Try Hugo's Cellar downtown at the Four Queens. First time we went there it was so-so, but the salad cart was amazing!!!! Second time we went it was excellent! Or maybe I was just drunk? LOL! I think we just caught them on an off night the first time. It is romantic and the food is very good!!

In Dallas, where they know a thing or two about raising cattle, Chamberlain's
Steak and Chop House is a favorite haunt of Lone Star carnivores.
Owner/executive chef Richard Chamberlain brings the same winning formula to Envy that won his Texas eatery accolades in every 'Best of' poll in Texas. The prime cuts of black angus filet, Kobe filet, short rib, sirloin, prime bone-in rib eye and New York strip are cooked to order at temperatures reaching 2000 degrees. The menu also features seafood, specialty items such as seared Kobe carpaccio with an Asian dipping sauce, giant Asian prawns breaded with thinly sliced phyllo dough and seared diver scallops and Arctic char with orange truffle glaze. But it's the generous cuts of beef that really satisfy here, especially when served with an impressive variety of appetizers, sides and desserts. The setting is classic Vegas, with Sinatra on the stereo and an overhead canopy reminiscent of the Fremont St. Experience.

Try the Tillerman, on east Flamingo. Very good food and service, but may be a bit pricey for some. Great off-strip spot for that special occassion, birthday, anniversary, etc.
Mostly a locals spot.
