I just read a story about a guest at the Luxor who had died from Legionnaires' disease after staying there. Here is the link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/46192477/
I don't recall seeing this as being posted or discussed here at ELV.

I have a hard time understanding why it is news that someone died in an MGM group hotel room. They have a combined total of over 40,000 rooms. Think of a city that has 40,000 people which would be equal to a major holiday weekend with only single occupancy rooms. We're not even counting the visitors staying at other hotels, local visitors, staff, delivery people in and out, etc. How many people die from various causes in these towns every day? It shouldn't be a surprise that people occasionally die in these giant resorts.
This is media trying to stir up a controversy. People are not dropping dead left and right from Legionaire's Disease in Las Vegas at MGM's, or anyone else's hotels.

I think you have the facts mixed up - this is news because the person did not die IN the room. The person contracted Legionnaire's disease back in December while staying at The Luxor and then died later in the month after they had returned home. This is also news because there were two other incidents of people actually contracting Legionnaire's Disease at The Luxor last year that were "unreported" until someone actually died and it all came out. How can you say that this is "media trying to stir up controversy?" These cases are all CONFIRMED by the Department of Health in Nevada. I was a guest at Aria last year during the time that the outbreak of Legionnaire's Disease took place and let me tell you that it is a very serious disease - it is a pneumonia-like respiratory infection with extremely high fever and not only can it be fatal but it can cause permanent damage to the heart and other vital organs. I do have to say that Legionnaires Disease can be present in any water supply - but the fact that it is happening so regularly in MGM Properties is what is making it news. And now that one person has actually died from the disease. it most certainly is news.
This is very scary stuff, this is the first i have heard of it.
