I havent played Texas Hold 'Em in Vegas yet, Been trying to master it on the internet and at my local Wisconsin Casinos.
Any thoughts on which Vegas Casinos offer daily tournaments and/or decent poker rooms.
I play alot on the $2/$4 tables, and sometimes on the $10/$20. Not really ready for too much more than that, with the exception of maybe a tournament buy-in of $50-500.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Go to Las Vegas Advisor, on the the left side of home page under gambling info click on poker rooms/tournies. A list of casinos appears and if you click on any " yes " a schedule for all the casinos will appear. Good Luck!

I played at the Palms - they offer free lessons at noon (at least they did last memorial day) which morphed into a real game with the same dealer. I had only ever played on the computer and needed the little nudge of a live lesson in order to get up my nerve.
It was great - the dealer was helpful, the guidance she gave on what to play vs. what to hold works, and I had a blast.

Most poker rooms offer free lessons. The smallest "beginner" games around are at the Excalibur, with a $1-$3, or $2-$4 limit. Their free lessons begin every day at 2:00PM.

when I was there last March, The Plaza (downtown at Freemont and Main) had a "Midnight Madness" Texas Holdem tourney every night at midnight for only $50 buy in....

I'd also recommend checking www.allvegaspoker.com for poker room reviews and tourney info. Between LVA and AVP you'll get a lot of information. Most limit ring games are pretty soft up to 4/8.

I have always enjoyed Hold-em at the Sahara. Low limits and good people.

where will you be staying?
luxor, excaliber have like a 20 dollar freezeout tourny in the mornings.
the sahara has excellent tourneys at 11:00 a.m and 7:00 pm
think it is a 45.00 buy in and a 20.00 add on with rebuys.
If you are new to hold'em i would not suggest you play the $10-20 tables.
The level of play at the 10-20 tables is a lot better in vegas than the casinos you are used to .
go here for info on tournaments http://www.pokerplayernewspaper.com/tournaments.php

The Aladdin tourney is a good beginner game. This was the first tourney I played in Vegas. Avoid the Harrahs tourney, for one reason its Harrahs, second, because I just did not like the re-buy procedures. Players were able to buy the re-buy before the tourney started, and were able to start with double the chips in an attempt to bully the tourney. Good luck

Hi -
I'm a regular 10/20 player from NJ who plays down in AC and elsewhere regularly.
When I go to Las Vegas I usually play at the following places
Bellagio - good 4/8, 8/16, 15/30 Limit Hold Em games
Mirage - good 3/6, 6/12, 20/40 Limit Hold Em games
Haven't checked out the Wynn yet. Heard some very positive things.
If playing in one of the larger cards rooms seems intimidating. I've enjoyed playing at the Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, and The Orleans. I've also played some fun Low Limit Hold Em down at The Plaza and Horseshoe.
Vegas is a great poker city. You will have a great time wherever you go.
