What bets would you make on the Super Bowl, how much would you risk, and why?

When I was in Vegas in November, I put $20 on Seattle and $20 on New England. Didn't bet on the Colts because the odds were so poor. Picked these teams based on the odds and just talking to a couple of die hard NFL fans (harder to find here in Canada). Will win $120 if Seattle can pull it off. Go Seahawks!

I don't bet on the Superbowl because I'd rather sit back and enjoy the game without being concerned about having money riding on the outcome! :)

I wsa in Vegas last year for the Super Bowl. Fun to bet on my old home town team the Pats. Won a big $10
HArd to find a good place to watch tho. Ended up in Terribles at a bar with a HDTV. Sweet. Town was a bit nuts tho. Would not choose it again.
Since I am now a Broncos fan - Go Seattle!

I'd go with the Steelers. They are out to win. Beating Cincy, Indy and then Denver, they want it bad. So according to my hubby, give the points and take Pittsburg. (Oh how I hate to say that, I'm a Bengals fan)

but that said.... i would put 100 on seattle ( now let me explain )
first of all... i am from the chicago area but that doesn't make me a Bear fan ( unless they get really good -- then like the Sox ya just become one ) but my fav. TV programs are Fox and Friends in the morning which Tike Barber is on on tuesdays and Best Damn Sport SHow which Mike Strahan ( sp ) and Shaun Alexander are on weekly so now the Giants and then Seattle have since become my fav. teams becuz I love those guys.
sooo.... since the Giants are out and that only leaves my friend Shaun, still in the running... all my money is there.
my advice.... I haven't done well so far with the playoffs... so i am afraid i have cursed the SeaHawks.
whew!

I would put $50 on the Steelers to win. They are my second favorite team (after the Redskins).
$50 on Seattle, short and sweet!

Well, in my house, we are split. Hubby is a Patriots fan, son is a Steeler's fan. Living in Mass for 24 years and then moving to PA, we are sort of divided, but I have to go with the Steelers. Lots of Super Bowl parties around here and even if you are not a football fan, you certainly become one on Super Bowl Sunday. Have to stick with my choice and hope my bet pays off. GO STEELERS!!!!!

After my husband pulled me down from the ledge after my beloved Bears and the Colts lost in the same day, I decided that I would still watch the Superbowl but not with the gusto that I usually have. We always host a party at our house and have many bets among friends - gentleman bets. This year, I am not partaking in these activities.
If you need me, I'll be in the corner still licking my wounds....

I picked Seattle and Denver at the beginning of the playoffs. Shaun Alexander is playing so well, I can't change my mind now. I'd take the points for a buck.
GO HAWKS !!!

I for the most part only make bets where I would be shocked so to speak if I were to lose. The key for me is not to try to froce a bet,if it's not there move along. I never bet with my heart or on a team that I'd like to win. No matter what the line would I be shocked if the Seahawks won? NO! Would I if the Steelers won? No! So why make that bet?
I've been going to Vegas for the game the last 8 years and I'll be there this year at the Bellagio, anyway last year I had the Pats to win the super bowl @ 100 to win 650 no points (made the bet in JULY) at game day I bet 525 to win 500 that no team would score three time in a row without the other team scoring. I won and felt like it was easy money and had a great time cheering for both teams to score when they had the ball.
So, I would say make a bet with your head not your heart and not what you would hope to happen. Make a bet that would shock you to lose! There are tons of prop bets, should you feel the need just to have actions on the game make a bet in the amount of money you dont mind losing. I'm not betting on either team but do like the Steelers.......GOOD LUCK ALL ENJOY THE GAME!

Football isn't even on my radar. If it wasn't for this message board, I wouldn't even know when the Super Bowl was, much less who is playing in it. So I guess I bet $0.

 I too am a lonely Seahawks fan in Alberta, Canada. I will be taking the Seahawks to win with the final point spread. I beleive they will win straight up but I would never neglect the edge. say $100.00 on here. I will take the total points "over" both at the half and final score for $50.00 each. I will take the Seahawks to kick the first field goal and the Steelers to score the first touchdown at $100.00 each. Now my budget is $500.00. I have $100.00 left and I will make prop. bets throughout the game as I see fit. (coin toss, first fumble, first sack, first interception, etc)

I too am a lonely Seahawks fan in Alberta. I wish them well and if I had planned right I would be in Las Vegas for the game. One of the casinos sent me free accommodations for the weekend but some personal family problems have got me grounded for this week.

It's really hard to bet against Pittsburgh, I personally, have $100 on the Steelers, even at -3 1/2. After they beat up on my Broncos:mad: , there is really no other choice than Pittsburgh. or a team to beat the three best teams in football, the forth best should be no problem.

My team, the Titans spent this season practicing for next year, so I lost interest in the playoffs before they even started.
However, a week ago Sunday I was in Las Vegas and decided to bet on the Championship games. I put $100 on the Denver Broncos and $10.00 on the Carolina Panthers. Then I got ready to enjoy the games. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy either game.
So this Sunday I'll just forget about the bets and enjoy the game.
I'll be cheering the Steelers on, which means they'll most likely lose. But we'll see.

$100.00 at the beginning of the season that my team, The Jacksonville Jaguars, would CHOKE somewhere along a hard fought season and NOT be playing in the Superbowl! (I'd be a BEEEEEG Winner right now!)
As for Snoozerbowl Extra Large, $50.00 on the Seahawks and an extra $20.00 that Bill Cowher busts a gasket on Worldwide TV if it happens!
Then kick back with some close friends and some adult beverages and cheer the game on! Not especially rooting FOR the Seahawks (any opponent will do against the Steelers and their extremely angry coach), but cheering Against the Steelers!
I wish safety for all players, I don't want to see anyone hurt.
I hope for sportsmanship from all players.
I long for fair officiating.
I DREAM of a crushing, humiliating LOSS for the Steelers!
but that's just me...

IF I was going to bet on the Super Bowl I would have lost already because I would have bet on the Giants. Saying that, I'd bet on the Steelers to win.

In a lot of football betting decisions I make, I let the BETTING LINE influence my bet.
Even though I am not betting the Superbowl, this is how I would disect the line which is now 4 points.
Who has the better record? Seattle
Who has the best road record? Seattle
Who home field has artificial turf? Seattle
Who plays in a dome stadium the most? Seattle
Who had a better pointspread record? Seattle
Who had a higher ranking in the Playoffs? Seattle.
What team got more BETTING ACTION? Pittsburgh as the line went from 3 to 4 points.
Who is favored by 4 points to win the Superbowl? Pittsburgh.
The line is telling you that Pittsburgh will win the game by more than 4 points.

If I lived I Vegas I would have bet the Steelers at -3 1/2 and by game time Pit. could be favored by as much as 4 1/2. You could hit the middle on this game.

I'd put $100 on the Steelers and give the points. Confidence and momentum are very important at this level. Any playoff team can beat any playoff team on a given day. The Steelers are committed to win one for the "BUS" in his last pro game and in his home town of Detroit. As in most games the team with the fewest mistakes will win and if the same Steeler team we have seen in the last three playoff games shows up this week there isn't a team this side of Heaven that can beat them.

I bet $33 to win $63 on the Seahawks, with the 4.5 points thrown in.
I saw the Seahawks beat Carolina in the NFC chanpionship game. If they play like that again, there is not a team anywhere that can beat them.
I also bet the Seahawks to receive the opening kickoff - $10.50 to win 20.50. I figure Steelers are so proud of their defense they will defer. We'll see.

You can not "defer" in the NFL - that is only a NCAA option.
If you win the toss, you can select to receive, to kick, or what end you want to defend.
The only time I have ever seen a NFL team not take the ball is when the weather conditions are so severe that they select a certain goal in order to immeidately have the favorable conditions or to have the favorable conditions later in the game.
The game is inside so you need Seattle to win the coin toss

Just wondering how everyone made out in the Superbowl? I have found that the line will tell you who will win a particular game more tham actual statistics as proven with this Superbowl line.
