Heading to LV October 15 - 19 with my Mom for a girls' getaway. Looking for a reasonably priced hotel option that is still nice - clean, safe, comfortable to play there. I've been spoiled (staying at Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, etc), but I know my Mom would not be comfortable there (a bit too fancy with limited mid-priced food options). We've stayed at NYNY before and she liked it. Looking to head up the strip a bit - from center strip up north... All suggestions and opinions are greatly appreciated!

The Mirage is our pick for several of our trips and we just love it. It is not too big so you don't get lost and the employees are very nice there. Rooms are beautiful and the pool area is spectacular!! --Fungirl

Some good, reasonable options are Flamingo and Bally's. Both are close to center strip with access to the monorail. They are nice hotels with lots of options, in terms of food and clean rooms.

visit the website for the stratosphere. they are having some $39 room specials, but i don't know if it's your dates. also, check other hotels, too. try the not-so-popular ones like stardust, riviera, flamingo and even bally's sometimes has good deals. if you want to venture off strip, there are lovely new hotels with casinos peppered all over the valley. silverton is south (shuttle service to strip) with great food in the sundance grill. it has recently been remodeled and is a very nice casino. then there is suncoast in summerlin. or orleans west of the strip on tropicana. also in the boulder highway corridow, there is boulder station and sunset station. sunset station is great. and they advertise rooms from $29 i think. maybe $39. anyway, visit some websites. let your fingers do the walking. you'll be surprised at what you find on the hotel websites.
enjoy. andrea from las vegas

When my daughter & I went on our 1st trip to LV we stayed at Bally's. We really liked it because of the location, size (easy to get around) & it was hooked to Paris. We found a special for $69 per nite. Have a great time!!

Sams Town and Orleans. Both are 3 star or nicer for a reasonable price. both have a lot to offer and will be "comfortable" for Mom. Both have shuttle service to the strip (Sams runs 3 buses and even goes to fremont street). they both aredown to earth type of places with a large "local" clientel and are well lit casinos with friendlyhelpfull employees who will make Mom feel safe and secure.
hope that helps

Mirage might be a good choice or maybe Paris. TI might be a bit too young for her, but the rooms are nice and they have some moderately priced food places. It really depends on what you mean by reasonably priced.

Have you considered Harrah's, mid-strip?

TI is my hotel of coice and your mom would have access to the mirage next door and the venetian across the street. the fashion show mall is next to TI also and wynn resorts isnt far from there either. have fun! :)

First I would figure out what I want from the hotel. Do I want a big Mega resort with lots of walking to get from here to there? A hotel built like a maze? Will I be sitting by a pool all day? What entertainment do I want in the hotel? Do I mind an older hotel that will have a smoky casino. How about Location location location? What are the comps like ?
OK your going with nice safe and clean and not to expensive. Here will be a shocker for you if you can get a good room rate $185. or less a night,(You have picked the expensive time of year to go).,,, ALADDIN ,,,,
The food is not cheap but probably less than what you have been paying at the other places you mentioned. The cement pond is 6 floors up no shade and limited pool side chairs. It's not hard to figure out the floor plan. Casino clean not to smokey, rocken lounge music can be heard all over the casino at night. Machines work ( no sticky buttons and the slot card usually can
be read the first time you put it in ) A shopping mall is attached. Location to center strip is an easy walk.

Harrah's is nicely situated, mid-strip, between Venetian and Flamingo. I've not stayed there, but I've read it's pretty nice.

Depends if you want strip or downtown. My sis & I took our mom in Aug. for her 75th birthday and opted to stay downtown at the Golden Nugget. It was fantastic. We could each walk wherever we wanted (together OR alone) on Freemont Street and always felt safe. The Nugget was beautiful, clean and extremely courteous!

Check out Ballys for a great location and price. We stayed in a newly remodeled room last April and it was very nice. Check in can be a little bit of a hassel during mid morning.

Try the Harrahs website. www.harrahs.com They sometimes have deals on rooms that you can book over the web. We got my our son a room there last Christmas for $50.00 a night. The rooms are not huge but big enough and clean. You would be almost in the very middle of the strip. Short walks to TI, Venetian, Mirage, Flamingo, Paris, Ballys, Caesars, etc. Also, the monorail stops at Harrahs and you can go any where you want. The food there is pretty good and the casino is always crowded. It's a popular place. ;)

We have been staying at the Orleans for several years. It's really reasonable, not too fancy, very clean and the staff is very nice.

Ditto to that as well on the Orleans. The only down side is the location, but the shuttle takes you right to center strip. If you like to be on the strip check out Bally's or Flamingo's web sites and look at their specials. Sun-Thurs are fairly decent.
CHECK OUT WWW.TRIPRESERVATIONS.COM THEY USUALLY HAVE GOOD DEALS. GOOD LUCK WACO

TI is also my choice of hotels. It is very easy to navigate. The rooms are very nice. I've stayed there for the past six years and haven't had a problem. It is in a great location, next door to the Mirage and across the street from the Venetian. The room rates are reasonable. Make sure you go to the Grand Lux Cafe in the Venetian for a meal. The menu is extensive, the prices decent and the food excellent.

When we were looking for a great $ on a hotel NYNY, Bally's, Flamingo, and Aladdin were all in the same price range. We read alot of trip reports on www.tripadvisors.com . The reoccuring theme with Bally's and Flamingo was the rooms were great IF you got an updated room. I called my agent and he said that there was no guarantee that we would get one of those rooms unless we paid extra up front. Aladdin was built in 2001 so it's not that old. Also the ventilation system is up to date - good thing if you don't enjoy stale smoke.
We looked at NYNY. It looked nice but for a standard room the bathroom was TINY.
We decided to stay where we had stayed in the past. No surprises! ;) The Aladdin is a 4+ star at a 3 star price. (We are paying $85 a night) We liked the standard room's bathroom at the Aladdin. It's HUGE! Two sinks, seperate soaking tub, seperate roman shower, and another room for the toilet with a door. Nice if you like a bit of privacy. We also liked being next door to Paris and across from the fountains. We had a strip view but not fountain view which is extra. We could still see 3/4 of the fountains.
Good luck choosing! Check out the above website. Read every trip report in the last 6 months.

Heading to LV October 9 - 13 with my Mom for a girls' getaway. Looking for a reasonably priced hotel option that is still nice - clean, safe, comfortable to play there.
IMO the best location on the strip is the Flamingo; The Mirage is a bit more upscale and in a good location as well. :)
