For your info . . . Southwest has an Internet Special going on, to be booked by January 23. I just booked a trip to "our favorite place" from St. Louis, MO for $69.00/one way (taxes are extra). It's worth checking out.

Those fares are very tempting especially from NY..less than $200 RT! I might have to scratch that "itch" I am getting.
Steve
NOTE: The NY prices I got were from Albany. Looks like a lot of the "Internet Special" airfares out of NYC are all taken.

I started getting the "itch" when I received a really good offer from MGM. I decided to scratch it when I found a $215.00 round trip from Chicago on Southwest. Could have done a bit better on the airfare if I had booked less desireable departure times. At any rate, I leave for the airport in 24 days, 1 hour and 17 minutes.

Always check for internet fares that are ONLY available online. Sometimes I have found that the fares say unavailable one day for the departure/return fares and the next day they will be available. Pays to check back if you are looking for a great fare. It seems they play around with fares sometimes. I booked a roundtrip non stop fare from Indy for Superbowl weekend for $158.60(Sat to Tues). A great internet special!!!

Hi
Only trouble for me is that they only go out to June 9, 2006 - we are looking to go out around June 8th and come back around the 15th so can not book those dates on Southwest.
Bummer

My husband and I booked online with Southwest Buffalo to Las Vegas March 1 to 7th for $274.00 roundtrip, non stop, for both of us!!! I thought that was a great deal even though we live in Toronto, its worth the trip to Buffalo, because to fly out of Toronto on Westjet, for example, would have cost is over $800.00!!!!
Maybe I could ask, as we are talking about Southwest:
We have never flown Southwest, and I was wondering if the "A" type tickets (first come first serve) still applies? Is there any helpful hints anyone can give me regarding our first Southwest flight? I have read on their website that I can now print my boarding pass 24 hours before the flight.
Thanks for your advice.

Hello
You have the idea - print out your boarding pass the night before so you have an "A" boarding pass.
Then depending on how much you care about your row and seat, you can start to line up by the boarding gate as early as you can stand in order to determine how quickly you will be on the plane.
Good Luck with Southwest and in Vegas :)

Thanks, LJG0722
I will print out our boarding passes 24 hours before to enable us to get an "A" pass. Does that mean that they would call all the "A" passes up first? Is that why they call it a "cattle call"??? When do they start calling people up, or when you get to the boarding lounge do you just get in line??

We only fly Southwest. Non-stop from Albany, NY (about 4 1/2 hours) is between $184. & $198. round trip per person.
Concerning the boarding pass - now you are able to get it online 24 hrs prior to flight time. There are 3 lines at your boarding gate - A, B, C. The first people to get their boarding pass are assigned Line A and so on. And yes, they are the first ones called to board. Boarding usually begins 15-20 minutes prior to take off. When you get there you may get in your line or just take a seat. You can remain seated until all other 'A's are boarded if you wish. If you are traveling with a number of other people you will still be able to sit together even if you are the last in line A to board, so you really don't need to get there early to get in line.
With an 'A' boarding pass my wife and I don't get to the airport until 30-40 minutes prior to flight time. We don't check luggage (2 carry-on's each, using space bags) so all we have to do is go through security and that's never taken us more than 10 minutes.

Thanks Togabill for your helpful information.
As we are driving from Toronto and parking in Sunpark (as we have done before) I guess we'll be at the airport in plenty of time.
Another question: Have you ever had delays (I mean, other than weather) with Southwest or been bumped??
Thanks

Linda,
Never had any problems with Southwest and the only delays were weather. And no, I have never been bumped nor have I ever seen anyone get bumped and we fly often.
Good Luck and have fun.

Thanks Bill, I'm sure my concerns have come from watching the TV show that was on last year here!!!
Good to know that you fly often with them and have never had any problems.
Thanks again. I hope we do have a lucky week in Vegas!!!
