We have stayed at the Luxor twice. About five or six years ago. Wanted to know if anyone has stayed there this year. And is it still a good choice to stay at this hotel?

Luxor is a very nice hotel. Request a "tower" room rather than pyramid room.

Well, I have stayed there many times but unfortunately, not THIS year as I am suffering from Vegas-withdrawl. :( Love the hotel. Definitely a good value for the money IMO. I second the suggestion of asking for a tower room. That is, unless you want the novelty of a pyramid room and riding the inclinators. The tower rooms are larger and have a separate tub and glassed in shower in the bathroom. Not to mention the non-slanting floor to ceiling window/sitting area.

West Tower is in the rear of the hotel but good access to the pool/spa area and has its own convenient valet parking on the side. East Tower is in the front and you could probably ask for a Strip view in this tower if that is important to you. Personally, I ask for a low floor room in the West Tower that faces the mountains or the pool. I like being the last one on/first one off for the elevator!

I suppose in Dec. the pool is not really going to be a concern, but it is a nice area maybe to sit outside if it is pleasant enough. I really enjoy going to the Oasis spa ... sometimes you can get a free pass in the coupon book at checkin (can't hurt to ask I guess). For food, the coffee shop (Pyramid Cafe) has a wide variety and I have always had good service (well, except for that one time at 2 a.m.) and reasonably priced. The hash browns are incredible, IMO, if you are a breakfast freak like myself. I am not a big buffet fan (except for the Paris buffet and I want to try Dishes at TI) but I have always had a decent meal at Pharaoh's Pheast. The buffet area is spacious and comfortable and they have plenty of choices if you don't feel like venturing out.

I stayed at the Luxor for five nights in August. There were eight of us and we had four rooms in the East Tower. The housekeeping left a little to be desired and the rooms are getting little tired but it was really not too bad. Maybe now that MGM Mirage owns it they will spruce it up a bit. I must say that I am a clean freak though. We had great luck at the Excalibur. Although the Luxor would not be my first choice of hotels it was not a bad experience. It was my son's idea to stay at the Luxor. I prefer to stay more center strip. Back to the Mirage in December.

I stayed at the Luxor in May. I personally love the novelty of the pyramid rooms.

IMO the spa is among the nicest in Vegas.

I stayed at Luxor in April for the first time...LOVED IT! I stayed in a Tower room and found it to be one of the nicest Vegas rooms I've had. It was quiet and very clean. The restaurants were good, too, but I found the slots to be VERY tight. All in all it was a good experience. I would definitely recommend it!
