Why is it that the hotels have the right to delay your check in past the 3 P.M. time frame? They think nothing of having you inconvenienced, without even blinking. If check out is 12 (some 11), that should be enough time for housekeeping to get your room clean by 3.
On the other side of the coin, if you ask for a late check out, it is rare that they would oblige, unless you pay an hourly fee.
Perhaps, I have answered my own question. Hotels make money on late check outs, so why not take advantage and let the following customer suffer.
I say, if check in is 3 , and you get in your room only at 4, then check out should be an hour past normal check out.
But, then, that would not solve any problem, but at least I got to rant.
Does it bug anyone else but me?

Why do hotels charge you for an entire day when you don't arrive there until very late at night? Thats the one that bugs me. Thats why I try for a morning flight from the east so I can get there early.
I guess I have been lucky I have never been told I had to wait for my room to be ready.
As far as check out goes it sux when you have a red-eye flight back east but you have more than 8 hours with no room to stay at.

Yeah, that bugs me too. I won't get to the Mirage before midnight on Christmas day, but still have to pay full on not one, but two rooms! However, to take a flight early the next morning was going to be $100 per ticket more, and there are four of us. It worked out better for me to fly in on Christmas, but the room cost still bugs me.
On top of that, I originally booked 1 room for 3 people. 3 weeks later my son's girlfriend decided to go. I decided to get them their own room. When I tried to get the second room at the same rate as the first they wouldn't oblige. I was using an e mail special. My wife and my room for 4 days is going to be $360. My son's room is going to be $490 for the same dates. Kind of a rip off if you ask me. :)
