Playboy Club sets itself apart with fluffy-tailed cocktail servers.
By: John Przybys/Las Vegas Review Journal

A nightclub's distinguishing feature — the thing that makes one club different from another — usually is something like a state-of-the-art sound system or a computerized lighting setup or a new twist in customer service.

But the most distinguishing features of Las Vegas' Playboy Club? Begin with the Playboy name and bunny logo, which have helped to make Playboy one of the most recognizable brands in the world.

Then, of course, there are the Playboy Bunnies, who not only serve drinks but serve as the living embodiment of the Playboy mystique.

Liberace museum strives to keep its sparkle after 30 years.
By SONYA PADGETT/LVRJ

It might be the cheesiest overnight bag in existence, a PVC and satin duffel splashed with a photo of Liberace taking a bubble bath.

It certainly gets some looks when Darin Hollingsworth uses it, which he does, often. So often, in fact, that he needs to replace it. But if carrying this loud man-purse into airports and hotels gives him the opening he needs to spread the word about Liberace, then it's well worth any hit his cool factor may take.

"I do it to be the ambassador for the organization," says Hollingsworth, president of the Liberace Foundation since 2006.

Reno mom hits $33 million Megabucks jackpot
By: Amanda Finnegan/Las Vegas Sun

A Reno woman is $33 million richer after hitting the second largest Megabucks jackpot in history at a Sparks casino.

The winner has been identified as 38-year-old Rachael Renee Romanick who was playing at Terrible’s Rail City casino when she hit the jackpot.

"I really owe it to my friend," Romanick said. "I wanted to stay home, but he wanted to gamble at Rail City and convinced me to join him. I said to myself, 'Why not? If you're gonna win big, you have to play big and take a chance.'"

Romanick, who has four daughters, had been playing for only about 10 minutes when she hit the jackpot and initially had no idea she won.

"I had to ask someone if this was for real," she said. "I kind of froze because this was so unexpected."

Reno-based gaming supply company International Game Technology is the maker of the Megabucks product line, which launched in 1986.

The largest jackpot ever won was $39.7 million at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in March 2003.

Bally’s has shuttered its race and sports book at least through September. If you were thinking of placing your bets there, the good folks at Bally’s are directing you to the sports book at Paris, right next door to the resort. Harrah’s owns both properties so all the money is going into the same pot. No reason given for the closing, but supposedly the sports book will return in the same spot come September.

Wheel of Fortune is more than a slot machine it’s the number one television show in syndication and it is heading to Vegas this summer. Pat Sajak, Vanna White, and the entire Los Angeles-based crew will tape four weeks of shows on July 17, 18, 20, and 21 at The Venetian and The Palazzo. The Greek Isles, a small hotel/casino near the Las Vegas Convention Center, has been forced into bankruptcy, adding to a growing list of troubled Vegas properties.

Sin City Brewery has opened a second Las Vegas location inside the Flamingo with an outside patio overlooking the lush pool area. Much bigger than its hole-in-the-wall space at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, this one will also be a magnet for beer lovers.

Ginseng BBQ, a notable traditional Korean barbeque restaurant owned by In Chun Lee, will open in June at the Imperial Palace on the fifth floor dining promenade. Ginseng BBQ will feature table service and Korean cuisine with a concept similar to the two other successful Las Vegas restaurants, Ginseng BBQ and DJK, that are owned and operated by Las Vegas local Lee.

Platinum Productions will debut a new sexy, rockin' topless revue, "Sin City Bad Girls," on Friday, April 24, at 9 p.m. in the Las Vegas Hilton's 340-seat Shimmer Showroom.

The show will feature a cast of eight gorgeous dancers, lead by songstress Lorena Peril and a live band. Tickets for the 9 p.m. nightly except Sunday show are $45 general admission and $55 for VIP seating with a souvenir, call 702-732-5755 or 800-222-5361.

The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which has been the home to superstars such as Celine Dion, Cher, Bette Midler and Elton John since it opened, recently celebrated its 6th Anniversary. Built in 2003 for the premiere of Dion's show "A New Day," The Colosseum is a modern replica of Rome's architectural wonder, seats 4,298 people with no seat farther than 120 feet from the stage, and has the largest indoor high-definition LED screen in North America. A giant cake replica of the venue guarded by centurions was part of the hotel's celebration.

A new block of The Showgirl Must Go On tickets goes on sale tomorrow. Three-dozen additional shows have gone on sale, grouped in three blocks: Aug. 11-Sept. 6; Oct. 14-25; Nov. 3-15. May and June performances of the Bette Midler extravaganza are already on sale.

It's official. Bobby Slayton, the "Pitbull of Comedy" opens at the Tropicana on May 5, and will play a Wed.-Sun. schedule of shows in the former Comedy Stop. According to the Trop, tickets will be "available soon."

Tickets for 33 performances by Cher at Caesars Palace go on sale Saturday. The nearly three-dozen dates are scattered over two periods, Sept. 19-Oct. 11 and Nov. 19-Dec. 20. These performances will mark the 30th anniversary of the veteran entertainer's Caesars Palace debut. While LVA will happily concede what publicists call Cher's "flare [sic] for theatrics" we must reluctantly take issue with the characterization of the show as a "high-energy production," both Anthony Curtis and David McKee having found it somewhat soporific and disjointed, with too many costume changes and not enough Cher.

A recent (although not entirely accurate) article in the Washington Post explored the role of Las Vegas as a spring break hangout "hoping to fill empty rooms with young people lured by the promise of cheap rooms, cheap booze and nonstop entertainment." Case in point, a Kent State coed who got a five-night stay at Mandalay Bay (and was upgraded to a suite) for $425 — less than a third of what she'd been planning to spend to go to Mexico. It isn't just the Strip that's benefiting, either. The Plaza downtown reported "a pretty good influx of college students" and the venerable Golden Gate was getting a bounce, too. Owner Mark Brandenburg told the WaPo, "We've been getting a relatively younger crowd down here on Fremont Street because they're beginning to discover we're here … For spring breakers who want to be able to get around without having to jump in cars or cabs, it's ideal."

April 19 marks the return of Rehab, the Sunday pool party at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino that the HRH describes as "one of the most extravagant and luxurious outdoor destinations in Las Vegas – catering to thousands of beautiful, trendsetting, rich and the famous celebrities, partygoers, and revelers alike from all over the world." Upgrades for 2009 include renovated cabañas (complete with 42-inch plasma-screen HDTV sets), an expanded pool, a revamped sound system, daybeds, and spa service right at the pool. The fun starts at 11 a.m., with admission fees of $40 for men, $20 for women, and comped entry for ladies from Nevada. If the crush at Rehab intimidates, perhaps you'll have an easier time at one of the other Cool Pools given high marks by LVA.

Ginger, the tic-tac-toe-playing chicken got off to an inauspicious start at Detroit's Greektown Casino, where she's the current marquee attraction. Matched against former box Tommy "Hitman" Hearns, the chicken lost one round to Hearns and tied him in another. The fowl play will continue at Greektown into June.

A trio of weekly "dining rituals" have been announced by Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas to "tempt and stimulate the senses, while introducing guests to Italian family traditions and classic comfort food." Sundays are given over to "gravy" (i.e., pasta sauce) made from organic meat and fresh herbs. Monday brings a quintet of macaroni-and-cheese variants (classic, lobster truffle, short rib, and Sicilian). Then it's 50% off bottled vino from the Sommelier's Choice list on Wine Wednesday. The Sunday and Monday repasts are held in the Lobby Lounge, while the Wednesday wine tasting is split between the Medici Cafe & Terrace and the Galileo Bar. Sunday Gravy is $16-$18 per person, while the Monday dinner is priced at $15-18.

Two Vegas newcomers and four Strip veterans form the sextet of chefs overseeing the restaurant lineup for Aria, which was announced today. Masayoshi Takayama's Shaboo is a set of semi-private dining rooms that feature modern Japanese cuisine. It will be surrounded by Bar Masa, which features more casual versions of the same menu.Chicago's Shawn McClain makes his first foray outside of the Windy City with Sage, whose fare is described as "farm-to-table produce, artisanal meats and sustainable seafood." A lodge-like atmosphere will characterize Michael Mina's American Fish, while the name of Jean Georges Steakhouse is similarly self-explanatory. Traditional Italian food "like grandmother used to make"is promised by Sirio Maccioni's restaurant, called Sirio. Guess who is the chef at Julien Serrano? It will be a tapas-oriented restaurant with an emphasis on shellfish. Other Aria eateries will include JP Patisserie (the handiwork of Jean-Philippe Maury), Blossom (Chinese food), Lemongrass (Thai cuisine), The Buffet, and 24-hour Café Centro.

BLT BURGER
The Mirage, 3400 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 792-7888

A inhospitable hostess notwithstanding, BLT Burger was a lot of fun and a lot of good food. The fried dill pickles were flavor-packed and so light as to be almost pickles tempura, and we also found the macaroni and cheese bites, regulation burger (with blue cheese added), a lamb tandoori burger and toffee milk shake all worthy of a fine American tradition and the reputation of the French chef — Laurent Tourondel — who's given his name to the place. (12/19/08)

Overall: A- $$

THE CRACKED EGG
7660 W. Cheyenne Ave. (also at 6435 S. Rainbow Blvd., 5570 Painted Mirage and 100 N. Green Valley Parkway); 395-7981

The Cracked Egg lived up to its reputation as a great little breakfast place, serving such creations as an amazing banana-topped and macadamia-and-coconut-crusted French toast and a truly well-crafted Bacon Cheeseburger Skillet, both of which were much more than the sum of their parts. And the homemade coffee cake is worth the trip alone. (3/30/09)

Overall: A $

HOUSE OF BLUES
Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 632-7605

Who knew that a themed chain restaurant in a casino would have such good Creole/Cajun food — and not least because it's the only game in town? Worthy Big Easy renditions at House of Blues included gumbo and Delta Red Beans and Rice with Andouille Sausage, and we also liked the waffle-cut Gorgonzola fries, baby-back ribs and Key lime pie. (6/6/08)

Overall: A- $$$

MARTINIS
1205 S. Fort Apache Road; 242-8464

All was not perfect at Martini's (mainly because of some minor service glitches), but when dinner starts out with an amuse-bouche, you know the place is not your average poker bar. A starter of prawns wrapped in bacon was pretty decent, and we loved the mixed-berry salad and lamb chops. And if you're so inclined, don't overlook the restaurant's list of signature offerings; while the definition of martini has broadened greatly, we couldn't argue with the pear martini or the Pisco Sour. JOKE'S ON US: Las Vegas comedians keep audiences laughing.
By FRANCIS MCCABE /LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

Movie stars go to Hollywood. Actors move to Broadway. For the men and women who make us laugh, the top of the world is the Las Vegas Strip.

Years ago, the bar was set — and frequented — by the likes of Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Jerry Lewis.

And Sin City was their base of operation.

Today, the Strip is home to stand-up stars George Wallace, Louie Anderson, Carrot Top and Rita Rudner. And other comedians make Las Vegas a frequent stop, including Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson and Jerry Seinfeld.

ENCORE FOR BEYONCE by Norm Clarke

Steve Wynn has been promising he was going to be adding big-name entertainment to his Encore Theater.

We hear he's got a four-night deal with R&B superstar Beyonce and talks have been going on with 1980s icon George Michaels.

One of them could be in the theater by late May or June.

Beyonce, the former lead singer of the girl group Destiny's Child, won five Grammys in one night in 2004, the year she went solo.

Michaels was a chart topper as a member of the British duo Wham!, which had five No. 1 hits between 1984 and 1987. After going solo in 1987, Michaels had six more No. 1 hits, including "Faith" and "Father Figure."

A quick peek at the grown-up fun in ‘Peepshow’
By: John Katsilometes/Las Vegas Sun

Quick thoughts about "Peepshow," which has opened for previews at Planet Hollywood. I caught one such performance last night:

The adult-themed show uses the tease to great effect — most of the dance numbers use a now-you-see ’em, now-you-don’t approach to up-top nudity. The naughty parts are alternately concealed by hands, pompoms and paint, and flashed ever so briefly. The staging is ambitious — expect a giant pumpkin, a huge plastic case filled with what seems to be milk and what is certainly a trio of dancers pressing their bodies against the sides. Kelly Monaco and a male dancer (the show gives as much attention to heterosexual women and gay men as to straight males) cavort in, around and atop a bathtub, with the male dipping high above while wrapped in a long cord. Late in the show, one dancer performs in a giant metal sphere above the stage; you have to look closely to know there is actually a person inside that prop. The theater, formerly home to "Stomp Out Loud," has been fairly stripped bare of that show's artifacts, which made the venue seem like a very large garage sale (they should call this one "Hump Out Loud.") Three audience members are invited onstage to help poor Kelly find a suitable suitor; the lucky fella, whom we might call Peter Plant, winds up stripped to his boxers (at least, I expect they are his) and strapped to a bed as Monaco spills pink paint over his body (later, Monaco exposes her upper half, to show pink-painted handprints across her chest). Monaco and Mel “Scary Spice” Brown are both sizzling, Monaco usually clad in a light-blue negligee number and Brown in a black-and-red bustier. Brown is really digging this gig, you can tell. The music is live, and the humor sharp. At the end, Mel B demands, “Good night, everybody, thanks for coming, now go home and get laid!” Even after the show, Mel B is running the show. Fun stuff.

This Joint an improvement, but still has some of that old Joint spark.
By: John Katsilometes/Las Vegas Sun

With its new, rapidly evolving concert venue, the Hard Rock Hotel is evoking memories of The Joint. Hotel officials have named the new place The Joint, for starters. Not “Joint II” or “The Next Joint” or “Son of Joint,” but simply The Joint. Same as the old place, which has a familiar title that is both apt and cool.

Considering a name change was a conversation that was “short,” Paul Davis said today during a tour of the new Joint. Davis, the vice president of entertainment at the Hard Rock Hotel, said stoking the Joint’s embers is important, even as the new space is markedly improved. “There is a lot of equity in that brand,” Davis said, and if you sub “money” for “equity,” it makes sense. Davis said he’s attempting to instill “the vibe, even the smell,” of the old Joint into the 2009 model, and how he expects to revive the fragrance of sweat mixed with Drakkar Noir with a splash of stale Corona is anyone’s guess.

Staying power is no trickery.
Penn & Teller on their 35-year partnership, charity, religion, vice and the artistic freedom granted by Las Vegas.

By: Jerry Fink/Las Vegas Sun

The magic team of Penn & Teller could not be more different — or more alike.

Penn Jillette is 6-foot-6, wears his hair in a ponytail or flowing freely, is an accomplished jazz bassist, barely finished high school in Greenfield, Mass., and attended clown college. He’s verbose on and offstage.

Teller (born and raised in Philadelphia as Raymond Teller) is 5-foot- 9, wears his hair short, dresses conservatively, isn’t a musician but is a talented artist, attended Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., and taught Latin in Lawrenceville, N.J. He rarely speaks onstage but out of the limelight he speaks expansively about topics from politics to religion to community activism to art and theater.

Penn is 54. Teller is 61. They have been the resident headliners at the Rio for eight years and have performed in Vegas regularly for 16 years.

‘Freaks’ carnie show on Strip an overdose of gross.
By: Joe Brown/Las Vegas Sun

“Freaks” is the little show that could.

Could make you watch most of it with your hands over your eyes.

Could force you to scream Uggggggh! Blecccccch! And, most often, NooooOOO!

Could make you throw up in your mouth a little.

The precisely titled, bite-sized sideshow revue, which just opened in the second-floor showroom at O’Sheas, is bringing a bit of Coney Island, Tijuana, and even Bangkok to the Las Vegas Strip.

Fairy Tales for Grown-Ups
By: Kiko Miyasato/Las Vegas Magazine

She is confident, authoritative, sexy and playful as she steps into the lead role of Peep Diva in Vegas' newest production, Peepshow at Planet Hollywood Resort. Yes, former Spice Girl Mel B knows a thing or two about female empowerment. She may have shed the Scary Spice image for her latest role, but the characteristics of her pop superstardom remain. "My part is great!" she said. "My character gets to be demanding and commanding and I get to have fun with the audience and cast members." As the mistress of ceremonies, Peep Diva guides the timid Bo Peep, played by General Hospital actress and Dancing With the Stars winner Kelly Monaco, through a world of fantasy and intrigue. "I think a lot of women can relate to Bo," Monaco said. "She's got all the right tools. It's all there; she just needs to know how to use them. She hasn't found love, she's kind of depressed, but if she looks inside a little bit, she can be a really fierce, great woman."

Peepshow is the brainchild of Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell, whose past enterprises include the Broadway version of Legally Blonde. The adults-only show takes audiences on a journey through familiar fairy tales, but these aren't grandma's innocent nursery rhymes; they're fairy tales on aphrodisiacs. Guided by Peep Diva, Bo Peep is taken into the world of Peepshow, where characters like Goldie, Lady Cross, Pumpkin Eater and Mother G show her how to master her sexuality and harness her inner power. Each step through this phantasmal world gets Bo Peep one step closer to love.

Peepshow features 25 titillating dancers and singers from the worlds of film, television and Broadway. Songs by Christina Aguilera, Aerosmith and Michael Bublé are performed live by a smoking-hot, all-female band. Even the theater plays a role in the show as famed designer David Rockwell creates a provocative and sexy cabaret-style environment. Tony Award-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes puts needle to thread to create some of the most original and sumptuously sexy outfits.

"This is a classy, premier night out on the town in Las Vegas," said Keltie Colleen, who plays Lil' P. And male vocalist Josh Strickland said, "Nobody has ever seen anything quite like this. This show is definitely going to surprise people in this town."

Combining Broadway-caliber dance numbers that exude sex appeal with phenomenal musical performances and wrapping it all up in a story line that promotes liberation, power and passion, Peepshow is a bold journey through fantasy and reality.

"I want people to be excited, turned on, to feel sexy about themselves and the girls dancing…," co-choreographer Nick Kenkel said. "(To) see beautiful women in beautiful moves and beautiful dancing but also leave with the story of a woman's journey."

30 Years & Counting.
Liberace's musical legacy continues through the generations.

By: Nina King/Las Vegas Magazine

When he began playing piano, Wladziu "Walter" Valentino Liberace was just a small boy, but by the end of his life, he had earned not only millions and millions of dollars but also the adulation of millions of fans. Those fans had watched as Liberace went from a nightclub pianist in Wisconsin to headliner at many major Nevada resorts, building his reputation as Mr. Showmanship with concert stages studded with bling-covered cars, presided over by the bling-covered pianist.

With his riches, Liberace bought many homes, but the home that may have the most lasting impact is the Liberace Museum. Established in 1979, the museum houses many of Liberace's over-the-top stage costumes, a fabulous mirror-covered car and an array of gorgeous pianos, some used onstage and some from his private collection. Along with the museum, he began the Liberace Foundation, which helps support musical students with its grants to Liberace scholars. The program has awarded $5.2 million to 2,500 college students across the nation. Proceeds from museum admissions help continue Liberace's vision.

Of course, Liberace didn't confine his bling solely to Las Vegas. His '50s syndicated TV show, The Liberace Show, drew 30 million viewers a week. He branched out into movie appearances, owned retail outlets, had numerous commercial endorsements and even played for presidents and royalty. In fact, much of his costume jewelry was presented to him by celebrities, including an amethyst ring given by Queen Elizabeth II. And as he grew older his fans couldn't wait for signature events, such as his shows at Radio City Music Hall in 1984, 1985 and 1986, which broke sales and attendance records at the venue.

The Liberace Museum, itself, has had visits from tons of fans, both regular Joes and celebrities, from Liberace favorite Debbie Reynolds to Bette Midler, Nic Cage, Marg Helgenberger, Michael Jackson and Charo.

Yes, Liberace built an empire, but what he left behind when the notes faded from the air will likely resonate many more decades.

On April 15, the Liberace Museum holds its gala 30th anniversary celebration at the museum with a day chock-full of fun. Admission on the 15th is 30 cents from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and performances by Liberace scholars occur throughout the day. Pianist Philip Fortenberry, currently with Jersey Boys, presents Liberace and Me at 1 p.m. A Special 30th Anniversary Exhibit, highlighting milestones of the past 30 years and of Liberace's career, opens and will remain on display through May 30. From 5-6 p.m., various celebrities arrive for Liberace Through the Years – The Friends and the Music, and the public is welcome to view the red-carpet event. Tickets for the Liberace Foundation benefit performance, which features Rhinestone Chairs Lorraine Hunt-Bono and Dennis Bono, Jersey Boys' Keith Thompson, Fortenberry, Erich Bergen and others from the entertainment scene, are available by calling 702.798.5595, ext. 14.

Naughty Sensations
Audiences of all kinds warm up to Cools.

By: Penny Levin/Las Vegas Magazine

Comic-hypnotist Anthony Cools' show might be the "coolest" experience on the Las Vegas Strip. The "uncensored hypnotist" pushes the envelope when volunteers from his audience participate in fun-filled mayhem while under his spell. It's all legit, and Cools notes he has ways of checking to make sure his subjects aren't faking being hypnotized.

The naughty entertainer devises risqué routines for his subjects to perform. Grinning, he explained, "There is no nudity, and everyone is always safe."

Cools playfully described the show as "Almost X – OK, heavy R – make that not for anyone under 18 years old."

While all the shows tend to be different, there are two bits that are signature ones for Cools. The "Do you want to be a porn star?" segment and his "orgasmic" handshakes at the end of the show are alone worth the price of the ticket.

Cools confirms he brings out the outrageous in himself and others as he cavorts onstage with willing volunteers.

On this dark day back in 1912, it took just 2 hours and 40 minutes for the Titanic to sink. The ship had been built and billed as “unsinkable” — until the unthinkable happened and it hit an iceberg. Some 1,500 passengers perished in the maritime tragedy that still fascinates 97 years later.

Is it just coincidence that April 15 also has become a day of sinking for taxpayers?

Today, to commemorate the anniversary, visitors to the Luxor and guests will lay flowers at the Memorial Wall. The names of all 2,200 passengers and crew are listed, and the laying of flowers will be in memory of them at the Titanic artifacts exhibition there.

I’ve walked the tour, and it’s an extraordinary, almost chilling feeling to stroll the decks, touch an iceberg and live out the life onboard that led to the experiences that unfolded. Click HERE for our Vegas DeLuxe story when the exhibit opened at Christmas.

There are 20 never-before-seen authentic artifacts on display, including gaming chips, passenger personal papers and re-creations of the cabins, staterooms and the grand staircase. I heartily recommend you see this unique and unusual exhibition.

Harnessing Lady Luck?
The Top 10 slot superstitions.

By Matt Villano/Strictly Slots Magazine

Every gambler has his or her superstitions: the lucky turtleneck, the lucky seat, the lucky card-keep. Many roulette players have certain rituals pertaining to when they place their final bet. Most craps players believe the outcome of each roll depends on how a croupier sets the dice. Slot players are no exception to this rule. Many of us have our favorite machines, our favorite chairs, even our favorite sections of each particular casino. Once we set up shop near our Number 1 slot, we have superstitions, too. Here are 10 of the most common.

Giving Up the Ghost in Boulder City by Brian Rouff.

I want to experience two things before I die. (Actually, three, but Jessica Alba isn’t returning my calls.) First, a close encounter with an alien, minus the medical exam. And second, a meet-and-greet with a ghost. Because aliens seem rather hit or miss, the spirit world option appears to be the better bet.

For years, I’ve heard stories about the Boulder Dam Hotel being haunted. Objects appearing and disappearing in thin air. Chilling noises echoing through the halls. No disembodied heads or redrum-inscribed walls (to my knowledge), but enough clues to make it a logical place to begin my quest.

According to the book “The Secret Life of the Boulder Dam Hotel,” by Dennis McBride, “There have been reports of spirit activity at the Boulder Dam Hotel for years.” Especially in the basement. So, when my wife makes our reservation (for Friday, March 13, of all dates), she casually mentions the ghost thing.

NFL: Week 1 betting lines posted.

By STEVE CARP/LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

The New York Jets don't have a starting quarterback for the 2009 season. But if you think they are going to find Mr. Right to replace Brett Favre, you might want to think about taking the 3 points they are getting in their season opener Sept. 13 against the Houston Texans.

The Las Vegas Hilton posted odds for the Week 1 slate today after the NFL announced its 2009 schedule Tuesday, giving gamblers their first opportunity to make a bet on a specific game.

"It creates a lot of discussion and interest among the bettors," said Jay Kornegay, the director of race and sports at the Hilton. "It's great for the tourists who are visiting. They can play early, and if they come back for the start of the season, they already have their bets."

MIKE WEATHERFORD: Director proud of 'Le Reve's' evolution.

Franco Dragone agrees no show in modern Las Vegas history has been tinkered with more than "Le Reve."

And not all the tinkering was done by Dragone. He opened it in 2005, but moved on for a time after Wynn Las Vegas developer Steve Wynn bought out his share the next year.

By late 2007, it seemed very much as though Wynn himself — a man with a whole company to run — had become the show's hands-on director, overseeing new contributions from the likes of "Dancing with the Stars" choreographer Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

HEIDI'S PICKS by Heidi Knapp Rinella/LVRJ

LOU'S DINER
415 S. Decatur Blvd.; 870-1876

Lou's is the kind of diner you seldom find anymore — which is to say a good one. It's clean and neat and the service is prompt and best of all the old-fashioned breakfast favorites are great. We liked the Country Combo, which was eggs, sausage and sausage gravy atop a split biscuit, eggy-edged sourdough French toast with a side of bacon, and a bacon cheeseburger. And a homemade cinnamon roll was nothing short of amazing. (8/18/08)
Overall: A $

RAO'S
Caesars Palace, 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South; (877) 346-4642

We had to reserve well in advance to dine at Rao's; in keeping with the New York original, this is a tough table. Was it worth it? For the most part, yes. Clams oregonata had been overbrowned, but we liked the Insalata Caprese, fettucine alla Bolognese, Uncle Vincent's Famous Lemon Chicken and ricotta cheesecake. (6/1/07)

Overall: B $$$

SETTEBELLO
140 S. Green Valley Parkway, Henderson; 222-3556

When your pizza earns the approval of the Italian government you have to be doing something right, and Settebello seems to be doing everything right. Highly recommended: the Insalata and Caprese salads, Quattro Stagioni and Capricciosa pizzas and some of the most reasonable (and nice) Italian wines in town. (1/11/08)

Overall: A $$

THE CAPITAL GRILLE
Fashion Show Mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 932-6631

The Capital Grille is the kind of steakhouse they're not building much of anymore, but contemporary touches help this old-school-style spot feel like anything but a throwback. Onion soup and a dry-aged steak au poivre with Coirvoisier cream were both excellent but on the salty side; also excellent (but not too salty) were the prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella, creamed spinach and roasted chicken. (12/12/08)

Overall: A- $$$$

Wish list of resident acts for The Joint includes David Bowie and Rolling Stones.
By: Robin Leach/www.lasvegassun.com

If John Meglen had his way, he’d sign David Bowie and The Rolling Stones to join Carlos Santana as new resident headliners at the Hard Rock Hotel’s new Joint concert venue opening tomorrow with The Killers.

John, the president of AEG Live/Concerts West, not only signed Carlos to 70 shows over two years, but he also runs Caesars Palace, where he’s been responsible for Celine Dion, Cher, Bette Midler and Sir Elton John, who ends his three-year run there next Wednesday. Now he’s begun plotting which acts to add to The Joint on a rotating residency basis.

John told me: “There are others in the works. We managed to keep Carlos a complete surprise. It’s not a big residency, but it is a powerful one. I have a wish list: David Bowie, Linkin Park. Fifty shows each would be ideal. I would love that. I keep bothering David’s people. I bother The Who. I bother The Rolling Stones and The Foo Fighters. For the first time, I can say there’s a lot of interest out there, now that Carlos signed the contract, to play Vegas in some form of a residency.

Las Vegas hosts a galaxy of stars this weekend by Robin Leach/Las Vegas Sun.

It’s certainly the biggest blockbuster weekend invasion of superstars and supershows since the economic stimulus package enacted by the politicos in the Nation’s Capital. In fact, it’s so awesome, you would think Las Vegas is right back at the top of its heyday doing what it always does best!

This truly is a weekend of fun and festivities that can hardly be believed — all astounding and incredible. Vegas DeLuxe has it all covered from the opening of The Joint with The Killers and Paul McCartney at the Hard Rock Hotel to the official premiere of Peepshow to the Miss USA 2009 Pageant to Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, all at Planet Hollywood.

It’s also the weekend the pools open with Mandy Moore at Tao Beach in The Venetian, The Hills star Lauren Conrad at MGM’s Wet Republic and Snoop Dogg at Rehab in the Hard Rock.

Throughout the season locals are invited to come play every Thursday for Asset Thursdays, the weekly party for hospitality and nightlife industry members to unwind.  Every Sunday, Bare pool will host a backyard barbecue with complimentary grilled fare for locals.

Bare offers two saltwater luxury dipping pools, and DJ-spun music mix as guests enjoy European-style sun bathing secluded by towering palms. Bare also serves a full lunch menu and gourmet snack options include light salads, newly added sushi rolls, paninis and personal pizzas.

Bare is available for private events seven nights a week for groups up to 550 people.  A newly installed glass pool cover instantly transforms Bare’s pool into a see-through dance floor.

There’s a new pool in town and it’s not taking a back seat to any of the “big boys”. Daydream, a pool club at M Resort is providing a way of leisure for locals, mixing rock star chic amenities with high-end resort elegance. No more heading all the way to The Strip or worrying about parking, with the ease of parking valet or in the west lot of M Resort, guests can park close and saunter straight through the Salon & Spa floor to find a secluded area that is home to Daydream. The more than 12,000-square-foot space features an adult’s playground including cabanas, daybeds, lounging areas, an ice-railed bar and of course, an infinity-edge pool so guests can float the day away.

The main pool deck showcases 10 VIP cabanas each stocked with water, soda and a celebratory bottle of champagne. Guests with cabana service also receive a fruit and cheese platter and enjoy amenities such as cold towels, an iPod docking station, a safe, television, free WI-FI access, ceiling fans and in-cabana massages (massages available at an additional cost).

Multiple daybeds can also be found on the main pool deck in the middle of all of the action and the north deck features a hot tub and DJ platform which can also serve as a stage for special performances. The south deck features a bar with more than 60 feet of ice-railed counters, a luxurious way to keep cool while grabbing a fresh fruit cocktail and a lounge area for guests looking to mingle.

All guests receive fresh fruit throughout the day, spa beverages such as cucumber and lemon infused waters and cool treats including frozen grapes. Pool attendants are stocked with sunglass shammies and repair kits, ensuring a messy application of sunscreen doesn’t hinder your sight of the beautiful, lush scenery surrounding Daydream. And for all of you who MUST have it wherever you go, WI-FI access is available throughout Daydream.

As for entertainment, headline concerts, themed pool parties, festivals and other special events will be offered at the Daydream Pool Club and Entertainment Piazza.

Daydream is open Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Admission price varies depending on events. On Mondays and Thursdays Daydream hosts industry days with special events and other offerings for those working hard to serve the city.

So there you have it. For those of you who couldn’t care less about swimming pools, I imagine my last column and this one bored you to death. But for the thousands who do enjoy them, I hope it gave you a little more information than you had about some of our premier pools here.

Ooh La La
I don’t know how many of you have seen Crazy Horse Paris at the MGM Grand, but since its opening here in 2001, it has played to thousands of people, and if they were like me, gave the show two thumbs up. The original Crazy Horse in Paris debuted in 1951 and since then, this French cabaret show both there and here has never had an American in its cast. Until now.

The newest member is Las Vegan Kristal D’Arc (her stage name) whose sophistication and poise dancing in the show has caught the attention of a lot of people. I talked to Kristal the other day to find out a little more about this talented, attractive tall blonde.

She started off by telling me that her mom was a dancer with the famed Radio City Rockettes, so Kristal got involved in dance at a young age. “I learned all types of dance — from jazz to contemporary– and along the way I realized that I loved being onstage and performing. Since then it has been my dream and passion.”

It didn’t take long for Kristal to follow in her mom’s footsteps, becoming a Rockette herself. “I did that for several years as well as working cruise ships throughout Europe. It was while I was in Europe that our ship was drydocked for a week because of an engine problem, so a few of us went to Paris and saw the show, Crazy Horse Paris and I loved it.”

However, a year later, in 2003, Kristal tore her Achilles tendon and was sidelined for a year and a half. “I decided that would be a good time to go back to school to get a degree, so I moved to Las Vegas and attended UNLV because if its hotel program. I’m proud to say I got my degree in hotel administration and graduated in the top five percent of my class.”

Shortly after graduation Kristal began working for an event company where a friend told her that the Crazy Horse Paris show here was having auditions. “It blew my mind and I knew I had to go for it even though I hadn’t danced in four years. But I guess I still had what it takes as I auditioned with about 50 other girls and got the job. Six months later I was onstage with the show.”

In the three months she’s been part of the cast, Kristal says she loves the show “because it’s the only show to let its dancers have solos and I’ve already had one. It’s amazing being on stage performing by yourself and have every person in the audience watching just you.”

But Kristal is also very realistic. “A dancer’s career is usually a short one. We don’t have the body at 45 that we had at 25. I want to make the most of it while I can and after that either teach dance or go into the hotel field and see where that takes me. I need to have something to fall back on after my dance career ends, but for now, I’m enjoying and loving every minute of it.”

If you’re wondering exactly what kind of show Crazy Horse Paris is, it is described as follows: “Crazy Horse shows rely on raw body talent and beauty rather than technology and combine sensuous choreography with various luminary and projection effects to create a moving canvas of skin, where reflections and images meet in a kaleidoscope of colors and textured designs.” Need I say more?

Crazy Horse Paris performs nightly at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., dark Tuesdays.  You must be 18 or older to attend. Tickets are $50.50 (limited seating) and $60.50 including tax and fees and can be purchased at MGM Grand ticketing outlets, by phone at (702) 891-7777 or online at www.mgmgrand.com. The show will be dark Tuesday, June 9 through Tuesday, June 23 and is set to return on Wednesday, June 24.

Betting Gets Better At M Resort
M Resort Spa Casino became the first U.S. casino to offer ‘in-running’ betting – wagering on live sporting events before and throughout the event – at its state-of-the-art Race and Sports Book.

Anthony Marnell III, the resort‘s chairman and CEO, said, “You used to have to place your bets before the game started. Once the game got underway, all bets were off and you were sitting hoping your team pulled through for you, Now, with in-running betting, you can watch the game on TV, while sitting in our Race and Sports Book, and update your bets in direct response to what happens during the game – totally immersed in the action of the game. It’s fast-moving and continuously exciting.”

The M Resort will offer in-running bets for select games, including tonight’s college hoops final and continuing with MLB and football. Initially, in-running bets can be made on the total points of the game, the spread or the money line. As bettors begin to utilize and understand in-running, more options will be added so bets can also be made on proposition-type wagers such as the number of free-throws scored during the game, the next team to score a touchdown, or whether the next pitch will be a strike and more.

Bettors can make educated decisions about how the game is shaping up and actually hedge their bets based on the action. Imagine being able to take the over in the third quarter, or bet the total points with minutes left in the fourth quarter. Or betting whether the next batter will strike out or the next pass will be a touchdown.
You will need to have an account to utilize in-running bets and can sign up inside the M’s Race and Sports Book. The Race and Sports Book will also have extra betting tablets, roughly the size of a notebook, for guests to check out and carry with them anywhere in the sports book.

Marnell added:  “With in-running betting you are always in the game. You’re never out and never late coming to a game. Everything is done in real time and you can see the points, spread and money line fluctuate as the game goes on.”

Sounds good to me. Now all I have to do is pick some winners. Yeah, right.

Fairy Tales for Grown-Ups. By Kiko Miyasoto/Las Vegas Magazine.

Adrenaline Junky’s Paradise: Top 7 Thrills in Las Vegas
By Rick Garman/www.vegas4visitors.com

Las Vegas is not short on thrills but for true adrenaline junkies there are a few pulse-pounding attractions worthy of your attention. Adventuredome at Circus Circus
Compared to some of the more extreme thrills in Vegas, Adventuredome can seem a bit tame but their Canyon Blaster Roller Coaster and other twisty, turning, and whirling rides are a great way to get your heart rate up without needing to call an ambulance later.

Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix
Located in the northwest part of town, this kid-focused facility has some true grown-up thrills in their high-powered go-karts that allow you to work out your inner Kurt Busch.

Manhattan Express at New York-New York
Winding its way around the outside of the Gotham themed hotel, this wild roller coaster was one of the first in the world to feature the barrel roll drop, where you turn upside down and then dive toward the ground. Yikes!

Richard Petty Driving Experience
If the faux racers at the Mini Gran Prix don’t offer enough horsepower for your tastes, try slipping behind the wheel of the real thing at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Speed the Ride at Sahara
First you blast out of the hotel, do a full loop, pass through the marquee, and then go (more or less) straight up. Then you do it backward. Eat afterward.

Stratosphere Tower Thrill Rides
The three extreme rides atop the 100-plus story tower are for true thrill seekers only. The jolting teeter-totter X-Scream, the sling-shot action of the Big Shot, and the twirling in mid-air contraption aptly named Insanity should require mental health check-ups as a pre-requisite for riding.

$100 Denomination Slot Machines
To heck with the roller coasters; you want a true thrill? Put a hundred dollar bill in a slot machine good for one pull of the reels. Now that’s crazy!

Relaxation Paradise: Top 7 Spas in Las Vegas
By Rick Garman/vegas4visitors.com

For some people Las Vegas is about the excitement and action, but for others it is all about the relaxation. There are few other places in the world with this many world class spas, all designed to make your cares melt away. Here are the best in town.

Bathhouse Spa at THEhotel
One of the most stunning spas here or anywhere else, The Bathhouse has a fascinating maze-like layout that hides peaceful nooks and soaring lighted spaces to enhance the experience.

Canyon Ranch Spa Club at the Venetian and Palazzo
The largest spa facility in Las Vegas at over 130,000 feet, this one is as complete as they come with luxurious treatment rooms, a rock climbing wall, a full-service salon, and much more.

Qua Baths at Caesars Palace
This luxurious facility offering everything you can dream of including an ice room where "snow" falls on the lounging attendees. I guess that's supposed to be relaxing.

Red Rock Resort Adventure Spa
Yeah, you can get a facial but why not go horseback riding, river rafting, rock climbing, or kayaking first? The Red Rock Resort spa offers a bunch of unique outdoor “treatments” that will probably leave you in need of a good massage afterward.

Ritz-Carlton Spa
Widely considered to be not only one of the best spas in town but one of the spas in the country, the Ritz does it right with a serene, Zen-garden like feel to the treatment areas offering a full line of services.

Spa at Encore
Encompassing nearly 70,000 square-feet and taking up most of the second floor footprint above the casino, the facility is stunning, eschewing the typical spa-minimalist décor and going for something much grander with a gorgeous Moroccan design scheme and peaceful treatment rooms.

Spa at Bellagio
A complete renovation in 2005 turned what was already a beautiful spa into a stunning and huge one at more than 40,000-square-feet. It's got a full line of services including massage, treatments of all types, salon, sauna, and much more.

Vegas4Visitors Weekly Awards by Rick Garman

The Bye Bye Burlesque Award goes to Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce, the peek-a-boo nightclub at Mandalay Bay that closed last week. After a rush of similar nightclubs flooded hotels a few years ago, the only one left is the Pussycat Dolls Lounge at Caesars Palace. The Bye Bye Betting Award goes to the Bally’s Sports Book, which closed last week. The sports betting area has been popular with guests and locals for decades and although no reason was given for the closure, hotel officials say it will reopen in the fall. In the meantime guests can walk next door to Paris to place their bets on sporting events.

The Bye Bye Big Bills Award goes to Luxor for offering what is undeniably a great deal. Book now and you can get all-you-can-eat, all-day passes to the buffet; two tickets to the Criss Angel “Believe” show; two tickets to the Titanic and Bodies exhibits; two day passes to the spa; two VIP admissions to LAX and Cathouse nightclubs; and a room of course all for rates that start as low as $210 per night. Consider that a year ago a room by itself would’ve been that much about a year ago and you’ll see how good of a deal this is. Hurry – you have to book by April 9, 2009 although you can visit through the end of 2009.

This Month in Las Vegas History By Rick Garman

April brings not only the proverbial showers but apparently in Las Vegas it also brings casinos. Over the years a number of very important hotels have opened in the month of April. Here’s a look back. The first big April opening was big in a lot of ways. The El Rancho was the very first major resort hotel and casino on the stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard that we now call The Strip. It was located on the corner of Sahara and Las Vegas Boulevard, across the street from what is now The Sahara hotel. It opened April 3, 1941 with just over 60 rooms and anchored the burgeoning Strip for two decades until it burned down in 1960.

Nine years later on April 24 of 1950 the Desert Inn opened. This place set a new standard for luxury on The Strip – it was the Bellagio of its time in a lot of ways. It also had the highest structure in Las Vegas at the time at a dizzying three stories. The Desert Inn grew and expanded over the years and survived for five decades until it was torn down to make way for Wynn Las Vegas – a hotel that opened in April of 2005. How’s that for symmetry?

April of 1955 saw not one but two major openings just a day apart. On the 19th the Royal Nevada opened. It was located right next door to The Stardust on the northern end of The Strip and almost immediately fell into financial difficulties. It was later purchased by the same folks who owned The Stardust and incorporated into that hotel. The entire combined complex was torn down a couple of years ago to make way for the upcoming Echelon resort.

A few hours after the Royal Nevada opened, Liberace greeted the crowds as the official host of the opening of The Riviera. That hotel is one of the few on this list that still exists, although rumors of its parent company’s impending bankruptcy could change the classic hotel’s future.

On April 4, 1957 another classic opened on the southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard called The Tropicana. Known in its heyday as “The Tiffany of The Strip,” The Trop became a luxurious playground most famous for its swim up blackjack tables. That hotel also still exists today but it too is going through some serious financial upheavals.

Finally, there was no fooling when the original Aladdin opened on April 1, 1966. A few years later it was the site of Elvis and Priscilla’s wedding and it remained in existence until the late 90s when it was torn down to make way for a new Aladdin that opened in 2000. That hotel became the current Planet Hollywood.

A Day in Vegas for $25 By Rick Garman
www.vegas4visitors.com

Visiting a city that is designed to take away as much of your money as possible is probably not the best idea right now, a sentiment that is obviously being embraced by a lot of people as tourism to Las Vegas has declined dramatically in the last six months. But there are still ways to do Las Vegas for very little money if you work at it.

What follows is a day in Vegas for $25 including sightseeing, activities, and meals. I’m presuming a Saturday for this itinerary so be warned that if you try this on a different day of the week the prices and hours of operation might be different. I’m also presuming that you have your own transportation, whether it’s your own car or a rental and I’m not factoring the cost of gas or the rental in this exercise.

Start your day at around 9am with a solid breakfast at the Gold Coast Ports o’ Call Buffet. Not only is it a good quality buffet but it’s one of the least expensive anywhere near The Strip. Stop by the players’ club desk first and sign up for a card and you can get a “members only” price of $5.95 for the buffet.

Drive over and park at Caesars Palace and take a wander through the Forum Shops to do some window shopping – it’s free, you know! You’ll need to have some willpower to keep from busting out those credit cards but I think you can do it. While you’re there you can watch the free fountain shows in the mall. They aren’t as exciting as the Bellagio Fountains but they are worth a gander. Oh, and you can also ride one of only two circular escalators in the world. I know, it’s not a roller coaster but it’s something unique to do.

By now, if you’ve done it right, it should be about 11am.

Walk out of Caesars and head south across the pedestrian bridge to Bellagio. Inside you can spend some time in the Conservatory soaking in the amazing (and amazingly free) floral arrangements. You could also walk back to the Jean-Philippe Patisserie where you can drool over the giant chocolate fountain. I think you need a snack so break out a buck and grab a single piece of one of their amazing confections.

At about 11:45 you should head out front to get a great view of the first showing of the Fountains at Bellagio. I don’t care how many times you’ve seen this it is still impressive.

For lunch walk across the street to Planet Hollywood and find the legendary Pink’s Hot Dogs. You can get their classic chili dog and a drink for about $5.

It’s about 1pm-ish and so far you’ve spent about $12. By this point on most days you probably spend more than that on Starbucks coffee.

Walk back over to Caesars to retrieve your car and drive down to the MGM Grand. Once inside take some time to visit the free Lion Habitat. Most of the time the lions are just lying there but every now and then you might luck into some frisky behavior that you can catch on camera.

Head outside and walk over to New York-New York where you can take a moment to view the Tribute to Heroes display outside in front of the Statue of Liberty replica. It’s a somber memorial to 9/11 and totally out of place in this visual overload of a city, but that’s exactly why it’s worth visiting.

At this point if you have either never been or haven’t been in awhile you should go check out the South Strip casinos like New York-New York, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. All of them have made some pretty big changes inside that are worth seeing. Not necessarily because they are terrifically cool but just so you can speak with authority when you arguing with Bob in accounting about how most of the Egyptian stuff inside Luxor is gone now.

It’s about 4pm now give or take so head back to the car and drive Downtown. Your first stop should be at the corner of McWilliams and Encanto, just north of Fremont Street. This is where they keep all of the old neon signs that will someday be restored known as the Neon Boneyard. You’ll have to peek through a fence to see them but it’s definitely worth a gander to see that kind of history.

Drive over and park at The Golden Nugget and on your way through the casino be sure to have your parking ticket stamped at the main casino cage so you don’t have to pay on your way out later.

Stop at the Golden Gate hotel and sign up for their player’s club card so you can get the famous shrimp cocktail for 99 cents.

Then check out the casinos along Fremont Street and take advantage of the various “Free Pull” offers you’ll find. 99 times out of 100 you won’t win anything but it’s worth a shot, right?

For dinner go to Magnolia’s Veranda at the Four Queens where you can have a variety of full meals for under $10. Their food is not going to win any epicurean awards but it’s good, filling, and quite satisfying for the price you’ll pay. I’m going to give you $9 to spend here.

By now it should be approaching dusk so you can go back outside and catch the first showing of the Viva Vision light and sound show at the Fremont Street Experience.

Jump back in your car and head back down to The Mirage where you can watch the recently upgraded Mirage Volcano.

Okay, so now your day is drawing to a close and you’ve spent $22 so what do you do with that last three bucks? Put it in a slot machine of course. My recommendation would be to go for broke and try out a Megabucks machine where you can turn that three dollars into millions with one pull.

Somebody has to win it. It might as well be you!

Brett's Vegas Views by Jackie Brett

"Sin City Comedy" is opening at the Harmon Theater with performances nightly at 7 p.m. This comedy show will contain a touch of burlesque and feature nationally known headliner comedians as seen on HBO, Showtime, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Show with David Letterman." Tickets for the 70-minute shows are $24.95 and $39.95, call 702-836-0836.

Emmy Award-winning writer and comedian John Padon is at the helm of "Sin City Comedy" after headlining around the world and anchoring numerous Las Vegas productions including "X" and "The History of Sex."

Burlesque has had a hand in comedy since its beginnings in the 1840s when scantily clad ladies regaled audiences with bawdy jokes. "Sin City Comedy" returns audiences to that era but with a contemporary twist with two burlesque girls who sing, dance and perform aerials over the audience.

TROPICIANA OPENS A NEW ROOM AND TWO NEW SHOWS

The Tropicana has specifically remodeled the space adjacent to the Player's Deli for intimate evenings of dining and entertainment. Coined "The Cellar," the venue will house the "Soprano's Last Supper," Tuesday through Saturday at 7 p.m., and "Hypnosis Unleashed" nightly at 9:30 p.m. Both shows are slated to open in late April.

The interactive "Soprano's Last Supper" includes singing, dancing, Italian cuisine, and comedy. Tickets begin at $55.

"Hypnosis Unleashed" is risqué with Terry Stokes and Michael Johns often giving audiences naughty powers of suggestion. Tickets begin at $40.

MADAME TUSSAUDS LAUNCHES NEW 'VIVA VEGAS' EXHIBIT

Las Vegas' 10-year-old Madame Tussauds has launched a new "Viva Vegas" permanent exhibit that was recently unveiled with a life-size wax figure of infamous former mob attorney Mayor Oscar Goodman. The newly designed room will also feature 26 additional figures, representing both Las Vegas' past and present, its spirited nature and wild abandon.

Included in the new "bling area" are wax figures, in original wardrobe often picked by the stars themselves, of Elton John, Tom Jones, Wayne Newton, Bugsy Siegel, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Liberace, Judy Garland, Siegfried and Roy, Bette Midler and Lance Burton, among others.
