SHOW REVIEW: "Joe Piscopo Live"
Average Joe: Comedian Piscopo reinvents himself as singer in cabaret show. By Mile Weatherford/Las Vegas Review Journal
Who doesn't love Joe Piscopo? I mean, really.
Something about the guy keeps us on his side. His long slide to show-business punch line was more public and embarrassing than the gradual obscurity of other "Saturday Night Live" alumni. We wouldn't rush out to see a nightclub act by Robin Duke or Tim Kazurinsky. But Piscopo? We're there — or at least willing to give him one more chance to make it right.
He must have engendered enough good will in those early-'80s sketches with Eddie Murphy, or doing that classic Frank Sinatra bit, that he still hasn't exhausted his line of pop-culture credit.

Designed by the ultra chic-sounding Japanese firm Super Potato (also responsible for Sensi at Bellagio and StripSteak at MBay) the Luxor's new lounge is called Aurora and is apparently themed to evoke the ethereal Northern Lights. The lounge, located by the main lobby, is open 24/7 and offers European bottle service, wine service, and martinis poured tableside.

Nevada's statewide gambling win dropped in January compared to the same month last year. In recent years, the month-to-months have rarely dropped, but last January holds the record for the biggest win of all time. Given the tough comparison, the 2.1% drop is not considered a troublesome sign for the casinos.

Delisco is the single name of "The Entertainer," the winner of the Wayne Newton-hosted E! talent show that aired in 2005, and recipient of any publicity that came in the wake of the low-rated affair. A stint at the Las Vegas Hilton proved him perfectly capable of staging an old-school nightclub act, but the singer comes off more in the vein of Seal on his long-delayed, self-titled debut album.

Don't be surprised to see Hootie & The Blowfish end their affiliation with the Silverton, including the band name above the Shady Grove Lounge. David Krause, the former Silverton staffer who put the deal together, is now at Primm Valley Casino Resorts. We suspect the door would be open to Hootie there just as soon as MGM Mirage completes the sale of the casinos to Herbst Gaming in early April.

Las Vegas SUN: John Katsilometes
POP CULTURE: Jacko saves Vegas.
Only the King of Pop can make Sin City shocking again
By Greg Beato/Las Vegas Weekly
Imagine a new resort on the Strip where the front desk is staffed by giraffes, the bed linens are spun from virgin unicorn manes and every room is graciously stocked with seriously ill boys who love intergenerational naps. Yes, once again, rumors of Michael Jackson's imminent Las Vegas resurrection are afloat, and this time they're grander than ever. A Jackson 5 reunion and 250 local concert dates over the next three years are just the first course. There are also promises of a hotel, a casino, a museum and, most improbably, a stadium, where, one imagines, scantily clad prepubescent cancer victims will pillow-fight crippled llamas for the right to take on Jackson himself in rambunctious (but soft and caring) battle.

Las Vegas Top Ten Values:March 2007 From The Las Vegas Advisor.
1. Steak Dinner - Ellis Island - 24 Hours - $4.95
The best dining bargain in Las Vegas is the 10-ounce filet-cut steak dinner at Ellis Island, the casino at the Super 8 Motel on Koval near E. Flamingo. It’s served with salad, vegetable, potato, garlic bread, and rolls for $4.95, 24 hours a day. But it’s not on the menu; you have to ask specifically for it.
2. Shrimp Cocktail - Golden Gate - 11 am-3 am - 99
The Golden Gate Casino downtown has been serving its cold-water Bay-shrimp cocktail since 1959. It’s been 99¢ for the past 15 years. It comes in a tulip cocktail glass with lemon, crackers, and a tangy homemade sauce. It’s served at the Deli in the back of the casino.
3. Mac King - Harrah's - Tues.-Sat. - $7.99-$21.95
The Mac King Comedy Magic afternoon show at Harrah’s is the best-value entertainment option in town. Collect a voucher from the coupon booth in the Carnaval Court outside, readily available around show time, then go up to the third floor showroom. You’ll pay a total of $18.76 for two, which includes a drink. You get 70 minutes of laughs, tricks, and even a shock or two along the way. This is a must-see entry on any Las Vegas itinerary.
4. Prime Rib Dinner - California - 5-11 pm daily - $6.99
The $6.99 prime rib special at the California downtown starts with a full salad bar, continues with a big cooked-to-order piece of prime beef, plus potato and veggie, and finishes up with a little cherries jubilee for dessert. The same meal would cost at least triple in any other city in the country.
5. Beer - Casino Royale - Daily - $1
We’ve replaced the $1.25 beers at Slots A Fun with $1 Michelobs at the center-Strip Casino Royale. This is a 24/7 deal and the bar staff is ultra pleasant about doling ’em out (it’s not uncommon to encounter a staff that’s resentful of this type of deal). You can also get two flavors of frozen margaritas for a buck apiece. Bottom line, though: Beers for $1 are better than beers for $1.25.
6. Buffet - Mirage - Daily - $12.50-$22.50
This is a gourmet buffet that’s high on quality and low, comparatively, on price. It has an unusual noodle station, where a half-dozen selections of dim sum are served up fresh (good shrimp siu mai); you can also get Asian noodle soup. The raw bar features cold Dungeness crab, small-to-medium peeled shrimp, lox, and one of the best buffet ceviches in town. There are also several Middle Eastern dishes at the salad station, along with Italian, Chinese, rotisserie, carving, and dessert stations.
7. Sign-Up Promotion - Stratosphere - 24 hours - coin-in
Stratosphere shows up again this month as the #7 deal in the Top Ten, with its solid gambling-based new-member players club sign-up promotion. Play quarter slots or video poker for a few hours and get a value-escalating (and cumulative) assortment of goodies, including $100 in bounce-back cash.
8. Breakfast Special - Station Casinos (All) - 24 hours - $1.99
As part of a company-wide campaign, the locals giant Station Casinos with more than a dozen properties in Las Vegas is now offering a $1.99 bacon-and eggs breakfast 24 hours a day. It’s a great meal at a rock-bottom price, and you can order it everywhere from the Wildfire to Green Valley Ranch, from Fiesta Henderson to Red Rock. You can also get a good $2.99 burger and fries.
9. Hot Dog - South Point - 11 am-5 pm - 75¢
South Point is now the only place in town to get the Coasts style 75¢ hot dog, plus extras, from the cart in the sports book. It’s a schlep to get down to South Point, but Top Ten’s about deals, and this dog is a deal for real).
10. Spamalot - Wynn Las Vegas - March 8-29 - $36.75
Spamalot is about to open as this issue goes to press. It’s priced to sell, with tickets starting at $49. But between March 8 and 29, the preview period, all tickets are discounted by 25% for everyone (not just locals). So you can take in a major Broadway production, at Wynn Las Vegas no less, for under $39 with tax. You won’t see another entertainment deal like this one for a long long time.

CURTIS ON THE MEND
The best news of the day arrived shortly before noon on Wednesday.
The unmistakable voice of Tony Curtis crackled over the telephone. He's alive and well, he said, and happy to report that tabloid death-bed articles about him "have nothing to do with reality."
He added, "They're going to look real silly when they see the photos in Vanity Fair."
The upcoming article includes photos of a rebounding Curtis and some of his favorite tales, including the time he stole a girl away from Frank Sinatra and lived to tell the story.
"Tell everybody I'm still kicking," Curtis said.

MIKE WEATHERFORD: 'Shag' pitch lands on Fremont canopy.
You see ads for Las Vegas shows inside the airport, along the highway, in magazines in hotel rooms, on TV commercials in hotel rooms and, sometimes, on huge scrims that cover up several floors of the hotels themselves.
But watching a video tie-in to the Plaza's "Shag With a Twist" on the canopy of the Fremont Street Experience? That's a first, especially such a big product placement for such a small show.
Last week marked the debut of the new Viva Vision film, which took place in tandem with a Plaza fundraiser for the Neon Museum. It was the first time Shag (Josh Agle) got to see the animated film that Fremont Street Experience animators made from his production drawings and storyboards.

SHOW REVIEW: 'X Burlesque'
'X' No Longer Marks the Spot: Topless revue loses something in its move to the Flamingo.
By Mike Weatherford/Las Vegas Review Journal
What's the price of being cool?
Some of us can only guess. But from sideline observation, we could argue it comes at the expense of having fun.
in the transition from "X" to its current incarnation as "X Burlesque," the Flamingo's topless show became a little like some of the beautiful people you see in a trendy nightclub: perfect hair, perfect style, and looking a little lost or bored.

THEATER CHAT: Despite regrettable cuts, 'Producers' numbers stay clever
The Producers" at Paris Las Vegas is getting mixed reviews nationally, but I must be easy-to-please because I loved it. Sure, I regret the cuts — especially those regarding the character of Ulla (expertly played by Leigh Zimmerman), a role now so minimized that after her introductory scene, she seems to just drift aimlessly on and off stage. But the production numbers (by Susan Stroman) are not just dazzling (which we expect in Vegas) but clever and, in their own tongue-in-cheek copycat way, originals. There's a surprisingly memorable performance by Fred Applegate as the Nazi playwright. Even David Hasselhoff — whom I expected to detest — makes his flaming director character his own, once he gets past his blasé opening number. Bottom line is, the show has the kind of musical-comedy fervor that musical-comedy fans find to die for.

John Katsilometes on the curious bookings being scheduled at the Revolution Lounge, including celebrity DJ Kevin Federline
To quote from a far wiser man than I: "Get back, get back, back to where you once belonged."
We dig into the Beatles' vault in an attempt to inoculate ourselves from Kevin Federline's scheduled appearance Saturday as a celebrity DJ at Revolution Lounge at the Mirage. Federline's gig is part of the club's "Let It Be" series, and the former Mr. Spears will be manning the turntables for a night of hip-hop and R&B samplings.
Help!
Revolution opened in December as a Beatles-themed ultralounge and is the first nightclub created by Cirque du Soleil. The place is indeed fairly trippy, in keeping with its intended theme, but often the guest DJ bookings have nothing to do with the Beatles or their music - 50 Cent was brought in during NBA All-Star weekend. Beginning tonight, the club has booked the house-filling DJ Sizzahandz for each Friday in March. On Sunday, Tommy Lee and DJ Aero host "Hacienda Sunday."
Club representatives refuse to comment on bookings, but the philosophy at Revolution is to showcase all varieties of music.
We like the Beatles, if it's not too much trouble.

Shining on the Strip
By Len Butcher
In a city known for its glitz and glitter, it is hardly any wonder that some of the finest diamonds and jewels can be found on display and for sale. In fact, many can be considered works of art and nowhere is this more evident this coming month than the American Beauty display at Fred Leighton Rare Collectible Jewels in Bellagio.
From Mrs. Cole Porter's Aquamarine and Ruby Belt Necklace set with 23 rubies on a platinum mounting, valued at $1,275,000, to Joan Crawford's amethyst and gold ring, that sells for $58,000. This one-of-a-kind display features the finest creations from American jewelers.
Linda Porter's necklace was designed by Paul Flato, whose clients consisted of Ginger Rogers, Joan Crawford, Charlie Chaplin and Orson Welles. Mrs. Porter later gave the necklace to Fred Astaire's daugther, Adele.
Joan Crawford, who loved jewelry, especially large rings, bought the above-mentioned ring from New York jeweler-designer Raymond C. Yard. It is a step-cut amethyst of approximately 75 carats with an exceptional deep violet hue and the stone is mounted in gold with delicate scroll supports. You'll love this one ladies, so if your husband/partner gets lucky at the craps table, quickly take him over to Fred Leighton's.
As an aside, Raymond C. Yard got his big break from John D. Rockefeller. Yard was Rockefeller's jewelry salesman at Marcus when the multi-millionaire told him that if he decided to start his own business, he (Rockefeller) would buy jewelry from him and tell all his friends. Yard opened his New York City store in 1922, making crisp and clean-lined Art Deco jewelry and Rockefeller kept his word.
I was fortunate enough to be given the grand tour by Carolyn Hagopian, manager of Fred Leighton's at the Bellagio, who spoke knowledgeably of each piece, giving me some of the fascinating history behind the jewelry.
Whether your interests lie in diamonds, gold, or other precious gems, or if you prefer rings to necklaces or brooches to earrings, you will find it all at the American Beauty display.
A few of my favorites were the Kwan Yang Goddess of Heaven Brooch of Green Tourmaline and Gems; an Amethyst, Ruby, Diamond, Sapphire and 18K Pink Gold Necklace (circa 1940s); Schlumberger Blue Enamel Bangle in 18K Yellow Gold from Tiffany & Co., worn by Jackie Kennedy; Black Enamel and 18K Gold Tiger Earrings from jeweler/designer David Webb, a favorite of Elizabeth Taylor's.
The display will be on exhibit (all items for sale), through April 3. If you want to see how talented and creative our own American jewelry designers were and are, you won't want to miss this. After that, if you're in New York, drop by Fred Leighton's at 773 Madison Ave.

Lady Luck remains shuttered
Downtown casino's makeover will wait as financing falls through.
By Benjamin Spillman/Las Vegas Review Journal
A hotel-casino that was supposed to become "the anchor of the downtown market" remains shuttered almost one year after its owners closed the property and displaced nearly 700 workers.
When the Lady Luck closed Feb. 12, 2006, its owners said renovations would be complete within nine to 12 months.
On Nov. 1, Andrew Donner of Downtown Resorts told the Nevada Gaming Control Board the project would be delayed a year but pledged to reveal plans for the project, "in the next 30 days."
But city officials in Las Vegas, which has an exclusive negotiating agreement with Donner and Downtown Resorts for a 5.5-acre property just north of the Lady Luck, say the renovation is on hold because the financing fell through.

'Forever' Isn't Forever
Popular show returns to Gold Coast for limited run.
From "Lenny's Las Vegas"/Las Vegas Review Journal
Don't know how many of you were in town this past weekend for the Super Bowl, but if you were, whether you realized it or not, you were part of more than 250,000 fans who descended on our city to watch the Big Game. I'm told from the books in town that business was brisk and they figured betting for the game at our sports books would top $100 million. Add to that the millions spent on entertainment, food, dining and rooms and it was a pretty lucrative weekend for our hotel/casinos. The first half had me worried a bit as I bet the Colts and they needed to win by more than seven points. Thankfully, that happened and unlike most of my gambling ventures lately, I went home a winner.
Okay, now that I've bored you with that bit of trivia, let's see what's happening around town. I'm happy to hear that one of my favorite shows is back at the Gold Coast through April 1. I'm talking about "Forever Plaid," a show that played to a full house for years at the Flamingo Las Vegas before leaving for a few years and returning to the Gold Coast about two years ago. Unfortunately, it will be leaving again following their April 1 performance unless they can find a gig at another hotel.
If you've not seen it, the show is a story about an endearing harmony group whose dreams of musical glory ended suddenly one fateful night en route to their professional debut in 1964. The group was slammed broadside by a school bus of Catholic teens on their way to see the Beatles make their television debut on the Ed Sullivan Show. These nerdy crooners with angelic voices have been dead for more that 40 years when they miraculously return to Earth on the Las Vegas stage to perform the show they never got to do in life.
The music is great and will bring back lot of memories and their spoof of the Ed Sullivan show will have you rolling in the aisles. Put this on your must-see list. Tickets are only $39.95, and for $44.95 you get dinner thrown in. A great deal.

RITUAL RELAXATION
From: Lenny's Las Vegas/Las Vegas Review Journal
Okay, don't say I never told you something that can put a bit of sizzle in your love life. The other day I got the following info from the MGM Grand and it's well worth passing on, particularly as we are now in "love" month. According to Buddhist teachings, the meaning of a red Lotus is love and compassion. This month, couples will be invited to re-ignite, rejuvenate and replenish their passions through MGM Grand Spa's exclusive Red Lotus Love Ritual.
Here's what they tell me. The newest in a line of signature treatments, this intoxicating service will feature native ingredients of Tibet, long-revered for their abilities to invigorate the heart and soul. During this exotic 100-minute journey, couples will enjoy pure relaxation, side by side, in a private spa suite. Designed to bring out a renewed youth, the Red Lotus Love Ritual will begin with a private steam session, fragranced with Tibetan Cedar Oil.
Next, guests will receive a gentle skin exfoliation with Himalayan Pink Sea Salt before they are enveloped in moisturizing body wraps. Female patrons will enjoy a luxurious wrap enriched with the healing properties of lotus flowers and Goji berries (no, I don't know what Goji berries are and I'm afraid if I took part in this, I'd end up eating them), valued for their abilities to improve immune functions, circulation and promote relaxation, while male guests will enjoy a masculine wrap featuring the benefits of Himalayan Cedar, known for its anti-inflammatory qualities (now this I could use for my arthritic shoulder).
A chocolate and Goji berry hand and foot mask will follow before an indulgent foot massage for her and an intoxicating scalp massage for him. Finally, a firm massage featuring lotus oil infused with the berries of Seabuckthorn plants, a Himalayan shrub prized for its antioxidant qualities, will melt away the last remaining remnants of stress. A delicious snack of chocolate-covered Goji berries will complete this decadent experience. Guests also will receive special take-home gifts of Tibetan Cedar soap for him and Red Lotus soap for her.
Sounds great and I'm sure is, but it don't come cheap. The Red Lotus Love Ritual is $590 for couples, or you can go it alone for $290. It may seem a bit pricey, but you're in love, aren't you, plus a happy partner is a giving partner. Need I say more? The spa is open to hotel guests seven days a week, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Non-guests are invited to use the spa Monday through Thursday. For more information or to book a treatment, call (702) 891-3077 or visit www.mgmgrand.com.

Las Vegas Walk Of Stars Honors “Sammy Davis Jr.”
From: www.casinotravelnews.com
Sammy Davis Jr., an extraordinary entertainer, will be honored by the Las Vegas Walk of Stars on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at 11:00 am. The site of the ceremony will be in the Le Bistro Room in the Riviera Hotel located at 2901 Las Vegas Boulevard South.
Davis was born December 8, 1925, in the Harlem neighborhood of New York to parents that were both dancers in vaudeville. At the age of three, his father took him on tour where he learned to dance and soon joined the act that became the Will Mastin Trio.
Davis suffered a setback in 1954 when he almost lost his life in an automobile accident, which resulted in the loss of his left eye. The accident occurred on a bend on U.S. Highway 66 at a railroad bridge.
While in the service, he joined an entertainment unit and found that the spotlight removed some of the prejudice he endured. “My talent was the weapon, the power, the way for me to fight. It was the one way I might hope to affect a man’s thinking.” After serving in the United States Army and releasing two albums, Davis appeared in his first Broadway show Mr. Wonderful in 1956. He became a charter member of the Rat Pack in 1959, which was led by his old friend, Frank Sinatra and included Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Shirley MacLaine.
Davis married May Britt in 1960 – the couple had one daughter and adopted two sons. They divorced in 1968 and later that year, he started dating Altovise Gore, a dancer in Golden Boy. They were married in 1970 by Reverend Jesse Jackson and remained married until Sammy’s death in 1990.
Davis’ acting career included The Benny Goodman Story, Porgy & Bess and the original Ocean’s Eleven, to name a few. The “ultimate entertainer” had many recording hits such as Candy Man and What Kind of Fool Am I.
Davis was one of the hardest working entertainers in the business. For example, in 1964 he was starring in a Broadway musical at night, shooting his own New York-based afternoon talk show during the day, and when he could get a day off from the theater, he would either be in the studio recording new songs, or else performing live, often at charity benefits as far away as Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas, or doing television variety specials in Los Angeles. Davis seemed to be incapable of standing still.
Sammy Davis died in Beverly Hills, California, on May 16, 1990, of complications from throat cancer at age 64.
Altovise Davis will accept the honor on Sammy’s behalf.
The Las Vegas Walk of Stars was developed in cooperation with Clark County, which sanctioned four miles of sidewalk to the East and West of Las Vegas Boulevard South between Sahara and Russell. Similar to the “Palm Springs Walk of Stars,” located along the sidewalks of Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, California, the Las Vegas project honors people of prominence in a variety of fields including entertainment, sports, literary, humanitarian, civic, military, and pioneers. Each star is a three feet square slab of polished granite weighing 180 lbs. and inlaid with the recipient’s name and specialty. For more information, visit

The Ultimate Mancation:
A One-Of-A-Kind Package That Deals Style In Spades At JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa.
Welcome to Vegas, baby, home of the Rat Pack – Frank, Dino, and Sammy. This famous trio knew how to live life to the fullest and the lifestyle they lived is a thing of dreams. Now, JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa offers the chance to live that dream with its exclusive fantasy package – ‘The Ultimate Mancation!’ Following the hottest travel trend today, the JW Marriott Las Vegas ‘mancation’ is a package that lets men be men and experience the best trip to Vegas anyone’s had since the heyday of the Rat Pack.
Arriving by private stretch limo to a breathtaking Mediterranean-style resort, guests will spend the next four days and three nights as stars in the sky, equal to no man. Upon arrival, the four gentlemen will be met by an executive casino host and given $1000 each in actual gaming chips for play in Rampart Casino, where a hostess will be on-hand to serve complimentary martinis.
Now, the dream life has got its perks. The pad: two gorgeous and oversized two-bedroom suites to call home. The service: a private butler for the entirety of the stay, there to care for every need, every want, every desire. And the super luxe bar is restocked daily with ultra premium beverages and snacks. And of course, don’t forget the ride. Getting around town has got to be classy, and the ‘mancation’ knows just what the man’s man wants: a Ferrari 360 Spider. Feel every curve of the road in this technological and artistic marvel. This Italian masterpiece will serve as chariot for the entire stay and delight even the most jaded of drivers. Bring back the Golden Age, because it’s back, baby.
If that speed isn’t enough, how about a day on the track learning to master the
corners like the pros do? On day two of the ‘mancation,’ guests will feel the rush of driving an Extreme Radical Racecar, powered by a Suzuki Hayabusa engine, around a 3.5-mile track at the Club Spring Mountain Motorsports Country Club. Enjoy a full day of exclusive lessons from racing professionals, learning every aspect of the driver trade, from cornering tight to controlling the sequential shifters just right. This is an experience no one will ever forget.
On day three of the ‘mancation,’ life will take on a more leisurely pace for a day of golf and spa treatments, something any man of consequence can appreciate. Guests will start out at the TPC at the Canyons, home to the PGA Tour Frys.com Open in Las Vegas, where each guest will be presented with a brand new set of deluxe golf clubs for a day of play and to take home (new club cost based on $2000 per person). Spend an invigorating morning on the greens with the TPC’s pro as guide, and then return to the resort to relax at the Aquae Sulis Spa. Enter the spa’s 40,000 square-foot oasis of calm and discover the healing power of a Sports Massage, coupled with the 19th Hole Foot Massage, leaving everyone refreshed and rejuvenated.
No good time is worth its salt if the food isn’t up to snuff and the ‘mancation’ serves up a dining experience fit for both international pop stars and high-powered CEOs. Breakfast is served every morning at Ceres Restaurant, providing the perfect morning sustenance for these days of sport and leisure. On the first night, enjoy a casual dinner at the resort’s authentic J.C. Wooloughan’s Irish Pub, brought stick and mortar in its entirety from Ireland. A private beer tasting with
the Publican and a hearty meal is only the start of this over-the-top dining extravaganza.
Dinner on night two will be served in the Carmel Room’s private library. This is the type of venue where Frank would start talking politics, Dean would calm him down with a quick retort, and Sammy – well, Sammy would laugh, because he knew it was all a joke. This place personifies “smoky” – cool, sexy, and a little unpredictable. Here’s an old-style Vegas dinner the way it was meant to be.
For the final night in Vegas, a last supper of sorts is planned. Reminiscent of old Vegas when VIPs, high-rollers, and celebrities dined in their private salons and suites, the evening will begin with champagne cocktails and then proceed to the main event. This gastronomical experience, courtesy of world-renowned celebrity chef Gustav Mauler, CMC, includes a seven course dinner, prepared to the guest’s request. Chef Gustav will fly in the world’s most exotic ingredients – foods, game, shellfish, and meats – and pair the courses with fine wines from across the globe. The Certified Master Chef and his staff will attend to the evening’s every detail and, after the final course is served, Chef Gustav will join the group on the balcony for aged cognac, fine cigars, and conversation.
While in its entirety, the ‘mancation’ would cost over $55,000, the JW Marriott Las Vegas is offering this package at $49,000, including tax and gratuity, minus incidentals. For reservations, please call Gwen Ho, Executive Assistant, at (702) 869-7241 and quote ‘The Ultimate Mancation Package.’

SHOW REVIEW: Rita Rudner
Married to Her Act: As long as couples don't change, Rita Rudner's jokes won't have to.
By Mike Weatherford/Las Vegas Review Journal
Think of Rita Rudner, and you probably think of the shopping jokes and the battle-of-the-sexes thing.
The comedian's comic persona is almost as identifiable as her distinctive voice and upscale stage attire, all of which combined to make her a Las Vegas mainstay since 2000.
"Oh, guys, you're going to learn so much about women tonight," she proclaims in her current home at Harrah's Las Vegas. Rudner became the master tenant of the 530-seat showroom last fall, after leaving a New York-New York venue that was about 100 seats smaller.

Grasping for the Grail.
Creator Eric Idle says 'Spamalot' is tasteless enough to succeed in Vegas.
By Mike Weatherford/Las Vegas Review Journal
Other Broadway musicals have come to Las Vegas and had their eyes gouged out and their elbows broken, their kneecaps split and their — well, if you've ever partaken of that generational rite of passage known as "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," you know the rest.
But Eric Idle figures his musical stands a bit outside the whole debate of whether Broadway can work on the Strip.
"We're sort of the anti-Broadway show. We mock Broadway, we laugh at it," he says.

NASCAR Immortalized
Ouch! NASCAR gets waxed. Who woulda thunk that Richard Petty, "The King" of NASCAR, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., currently its most popular driver, would be immortalized in wax by Madame Tussauds Las Vegas. But that's just what happened in special ceremonies during the grand opening of the new Neon Garage at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the NASCAR weekend at the track with the Busch Series race and the UAW Daimler Chrysler 400.
Both Petty and Earnhardt, Jr. attended the ceremony and participated in the unveiling of their life-sized wax figures. Following the weekend action, the wax figures were moved to the SPEED attraction at Madame Tussauds at The Venetian Hotel on the Strip to join those of seven-time NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt and four-time champ Jeff Gordon. The SPEED attraction at Madame Tussauds here in Las Vegas is dedicated to auto racing. It opened Aug. 23, 2005, with the life-sized figure of Dale Earnhardt. Gordon joined Earnhardt in March 2006.

ANOTHER WINNER (AND IT'S NOT ME!)
Saved this 'til last because although I love to see just about anyone win, it really bugs me that I never write about me winning big, or that one of these big winners didn't even consider contributing to the Lenny's Early Retirement Fund. Recently, a 71-year-old Las Vegan (who preferred to keep her name anonymous), on her way to an afternoon performance of The Magic of Rick Thomas at The Orleans Hotel & Casino, made some magic of her own when she hit the dollar Megabucks jackpot for $12,076,530. This meant Nevada MegaJackpots systems had been hit for more than $38 million within a 10-day period (sure, rub it in).
After lunch, on her way to the theater, she stopped to play Megabucks. "I've been playing Megabucks for years," she said. "I come here all the time [to The Orleans], especially on Sunday after church (probably prays to God to let her win). So today, I put in $20 and after several pulls, I saw the first Megabucks symbol fall into place, then the second and then the third. It was all in slow motion, watching them drop down one at a time. But I knew right away I had won. I just didn't know how much." Aaargh! Somebody kill me now.

MIKE WEATHERFORD: Celine beats Babs but doesn't top Madge.
A new Billboard list of top "Money Makers" puts Celine Dion slightly ahead of Barbra Streisand, proving it pays to stay in one place — as long as you're willing to do an extra 140 shows each year.
The Las Vegas-based chanteuse was No. 9 on the list with an estimated "bottom line," as the magazine phrases it, of $69.9 million for 2006. Streisand was No. 11 with $67.2 million. But her tour visited 20 cities, including a November stop at the MGM Grand, where tickets topped out at $1,000. Dion does about 160 performances of "A New Day" each year at Caesars Palace.
