Tropicana staying put
New owner says $2 billion makeover planned for longtime Strip casino.
On the same day one aging Strip icon was closed, another older casino received a reprieve.Columbia Sussex Corp.
President Bill Yung III told Nevada gaming regulators Wednesday the Tropicana wouldn’t be shut down once his company’s $2.75 billion buyout of Aztar Corp. is completed.
Instead, the resort and its 34-acre site would be the recipient of an estimated $2 billion remodeling project that will give it more than 8,000 hotel rooms and an additional hotel brand.

Lady Luck reopening not expected for at least another year, exec says.
By Howard Stutz/Las Vegas Review Journal
It will be at least another year before the shuttered Lady Luck in downtown is replaced, state gaming regulators were told Wednesday.
The 743-room hotel-casino closed in February and the facility’s operator, Downtown Resorts, has spent much of the year demolishing the inside structure of the casino to give designers a clean slate.
Andrew Donner of the Donner Investment Trust, which holds almost 66 percent of Downtown Resorts, told the Gaming Control Board during a routine transfer of interest hearing it would be at least late 2007 or early 2008 before the Lady Luck, which will be renamed, is reopened.

MIKE WEATHERFORD : Former Stardust performer Thomas heads to The Orleans
Magician Rick Thomas opted to stay loyal to the corporation, not the Boulevard. The Stardust headliner is moving to Boyd Gaming sister property The Orleans in mid-December, after a brief stop at the Suncoast Tuesday through Nov. 9.
The Riviera’s main showroom seeks a new tenant and is almost directly across the street from the Stardust. It would more easily conform to the established marketing of afternoon shows: Crowds heavy on sidewalk pedestrians making same-day decisions motivated by discounted tickets or coupon offers.
“It really came down to staying with the Boyd group. My future there looks positive,” Thomas says. And some of the encouragement came personally from Boyd Gaming Chairman Bill Boyd, he adds.

Show Review: Rita Rudner By Rick Garman
Stand-up comic Rita Rudner has been a favorite of mine for years, to the point where I have memorized several of her routines just because I’ve seen clips of her performances so often. Don’t believe me? From a performance from the late ‘80s: “My parents hired one of those ponies to give rides at my birthday party when I was a kid. These things are never in very good shape. Yeah, but this one dropped dead. It just wasn’t much fun after that. One of us would sit on him and the rest of us would drag them around in a circle.”
With her off-kilter, sing-songy delivery that kind of line comes off a lot less dark when she’s saying it, but no matter the subject, Rudner is a true pro with perfect timing, a knack for cutting to the heart of things, and now, after five years in a small-ish theater at New York-New York, has a new gig at the big showroom at Harrah’s.
The size of the theater is not really important here, since Rudner doesn’t rely on shtick or props or wacky backdrops to get her point across. It’s just her, a curtain, a spotlight, and a microphone. This is stand-up comedy the way God intended it to be.
Her show runs about 90 minutes, give or take, and the exact content will vary depending on when you see it of course. That’s another bonus – you can go back to see her again and again and not hear all the same jokes twice.
This particular set involved a lot of Vegas-centric comedy, all spot on and laugh-out-loud funny. On people watching in Sin City: “You look at people and sometimes you just want to walk up to them and say, ‘I demand an explanation.’” On the prices at Vegas restaurants: “Some of them don’t even have prices on the menu – just pictures of faces with different expressions of horror.” (The latter an oldie, reborn.)
She even pokes fun at the guys who pass out the pornographic brochures on the street. “They never pay attention. One guy tried to hand me one of those things with two nearly naked women in bed on the cover while saying, ‘How about showing them a good time?’ And I said, ‘How? Would you like me take them shopping? Because it looks like they need some clothes.’”
Much of her set, as has been her stock in trade, is about the differences between men and women and the joys and pitfalls of marriage. She expends a great deal of effort trying to get the men in the audience to understand why the female persuasion enjoys shopping so much: “It’s like hunting, but with a credit card.”
Now that she is the proud parent of a four-year-old, she also works in some good “mommy” material, complete with the notion that being a working mom in Vegas is perfect because she has hired a Rita Rudner impersonator as a nanny so her daughter never knows that she’s not there. “He’s really great with her,” Rudner says.
Tickets start at around $50 and go up from there including a VIP package that allows you a chance to meet Rudner before the show for a few moments (and snap a picture if you’re so inclined), better seats, and a copy of her new novel.
It’s one of the best values in town and one of the best shows in town at any cost. At Harrah’s they call comic-magician Mac King the “King of Afternoon,” so I’m giving the marketing folks there a no brainer — Rita Rudner is the Queen of Las Vegas. It’ll look great on the posters.

Criss’ worldwide following and the amazing popularity of his show are a perfect fit for us here at Luxor.”

Getting Down with Gordie Brown
Went to see Gordie Brown the other night at his new digs in the Venetian. As always, he more than delivered and should have no problem filling the room every night once word gets around. If you’ve never seen the show or heard of Gordie Brown, you soon will, as he puts on one of the best shows in our town.
Backed by a great band, this singer/impersonator offers a high-energy, laugh-out-loud, balls-to-the-wall performance you don’t often see. He gives his all and more for 90 minutes of great fun and the standing ovation he received was well-earned and well-deserved. One very comical thing happened during the performance. Believe it or not, a guy in the audience was sleeping. Brown spotted the sleeper and asked to have the spotlight shone on him.
The guy never even moved, so Brown asked the woman beside him if she was his wife. She said yes, and explained that her husband, who worked as a limo driver, was very tired. He then traded good-natured quips with the woman while her husband Joe slept through it all. Brown started by saying, “Let me know the name of the company he works for so I make sure I don’t hire him.” And, “He probably went to the ticket office and asked to see a show that would put him to sleep.” Funny stuff and broke Brown up. He really got a kick out of it which tells you the kind of guy he is. During all of this, Joe never moved. No-one checked to see if he had a pulse.
GAMBLING AND GRUB
Talk about service. Palace Station, beginning today, will be offering tableside food service in the Pit. A traditional tableside noodle menu will be available in “Pit 8,” the Asian gaming pit featuring mini-baccarat, Pai Gow Poker and Pai Gow Tiles. The menu will be available every day from 6 p.m. to midnight and all dishes will be complimentary for qualified Boarding Pass members.
And we’re talking more than a fortune cookie and cup of tea. The menu items featured are Special Vietnamese Rice Noodle Soup; Wonton Noodle Soup; Roast Duck Noodle Soup; Seafood Noodle Soup; Beef Noodle Soup; Beef Chow Fun; Yang Chow Fried Rice; Singapore Pan Fried Rice Noodles; Chicken Congee; Mixed Beef Congee; and Bee Bim Bop, a Korean dish featuring rice topped with meat, egg, vegetables and served with a spicy sauce. Anything to get you to stay at the tables and keep gambling. Next they’ll be supplying cots so you can lie down while you play.
Speaking of food, did you know that Pho, (pronounced “fuh”) now open inside The Coffee Shop at TI, is the only Vietnamese restaurant on the Strip? The restaurant is named for a signature Vietnamese dish, Pho, a rich beef broth with vermicelli noodles infused with spices and fresh herbs. Sounds yummy and you can get it and other great dishes Sunday thru Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. if you happen to get the munchies in the middle of the night.
Steve’s Las Vegas Quickies
Another out-of-town restaurant with plans on making a home in Las Vegas includes the popular Fort Lauderdale hotspot Café Martorano. Pumped up chef/owner Steve Martorano was spotted in Las Vegas this weekend checking out the former Rosemary’s Restaurant space at the Rio. From what we understand, Martorano blends his talents as a chef cooking his family’s south Philadelphia recipes with those as a DJ. “He blends together footage of gangster movies and the place is always packed with athletes and celebrities,” said one source familiar with the restaurant. And as always, remember where you heard it first.

The Paris Hotel and Casino sports book reopened today after being closed since Saturday when the Gaming Control Board and the Internal Revenue Service began an investigation into whether or not ticket writers were under declaring their tips. We’re not too sure why individuals’ finances would cause a closure of the entire operation, however we’re not pretending to be experts in gaming law either. While they were closed guests were directed to the sports book at the neighboring Bally’s Hotel and Casino.

Venetian headliner Gordie Brown frequently and effortlessly slips into a dead-on impression of Donald Trump. On several occasions Brown has uncorked the impression of The Donald for Trump friend and deal-maker Jack Wishna. So Wishna, making a deal, told Trump about Brown’s mimicry and had Trump sign a photograph (of himself) for Brown. Trump did so and sent it to Wishna, who gave it to Brown on Brown’s opening night on the Strip. Trump’s inscription: “To Gordie, you are HIRED! Good luck at The Venetian, your fan, Donald J. Trump.”

With Chicago going down this week against Miami, there is only one undefeated pro football team remaining. This team is, of course, Indianapolis. The Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook has posted a line if Indianapolis can match the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only team to run the table. According to the SuperBook oddsmakers, it doesn’t look too promising. The “Yes” is +600 (every $10 wagered wins $60) and the “No” is -700 (wager $70 to win $10). The remaining schedule for Indianapolis includes key games against Philadelphia and Cincinnati at home and on the road they face Dallas and Jacksonville. If the Colts were to get to the final game, they would have to knock off Miami to complete the undefeated season. How ironic is that? Visit the SuperBook for all the details.

From “Eye On Vegas”
Right Again
Here at the Eye on Vegas, we pride ourselves on our ability to scoop the national press on breaking stories coming out of our city and our record of accomplishment speaks for itself, repeatedly. Our latest hit was revealed last week when the USA Today wrote a story on Maxim Magazine’s new foray into the restaurant business with Maxim Prime, a steakhouse concept that will be done in partnership with Jeffrey Chodorow’s China Grill Management group. Our regular readers know that we broke that story months ago when we first wrote about the new concept as well as the news that one of the first outlets would be landing at the Hard Rock Hotel, in the space that AJ’s Steakhouse currently occupies. The USA Today added some more meat to the bone by reporting that plans are on slate for as many as 15 Maxim Prime outlets that will be introduced within the next five years. Additionally, it was reported that the steakhouse concept would focus on smaller portions and lighter fare, although that remains to be seen, as we don’t know many carnivores that would opt for a 4 oz filet. “The people who leave here are going to go someplace else — maybe dancing,” Chodorow says. “They’re not going to go home and go to bed.” Way back when we questioned how a Maxim branded steakhouse would affect a reported up-coming casino marketed in the same manner, and that still seems to remain unanswered at this point. We promise if you keep reading, we’ll keep breaking those stories for you!
The New Prince of Vegas
Last week, months of rumors were finally confirmed when music superstar Prince announced that he had signed a deal with the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino that includes a new restaurant, weekly performances and a nightlife management deal. Starting Friday, November 10th Prince will takeover the former Club Rio space transforming it into Club 3121 and using it for live musical performances, nightclub experiences and new promotional evenings. Every Friday and Saturday night, the paisley one will perform in the venue with tickets starting at $125 per person. “It will be more like a nightclub and show experience,” says a source within the organization, “bottle service will be available, but it won’t get you out of buying a ticket to the show.” The Rio’s incumbent Latin Thursday promotion, Latin Libido, will remain but renamed as 3121 Latin Libido night and with some special Prince touches likes salsa dancers most likely replacing go-go dancers and cover charge being raised to $31.21. “Prince wants to change things up a little bit, make it a little more upscale,” noted our source. On Wednesday nights, Club 3121 will host Prince Presents, a series of special performances from special guests, big name acts and sometimes even Prince himself. Again, cover charge for Wednesday’s will symbolically equal $31.21. The restaurant, 3121 Jazz Cuisine, will takeover the space formerly occupied by Fiore and give Prince fans a chance to dine on a menu created by Prince’s personal chef Lena Morgan. Don’t expect it to be all vegetarian though, we’ve been told a large selection of meat and fish dishes will remain although taking on more of a fusion format. The tie-in of the restaurant will allow the artist formerly known as a symbol to do cross-promotions like dinner and show packages, which, again, will be priced at $312.10.
Prince’s reputation as a tough negotiator has been cemented long ago and this deal carries all the earmarks of a typical Prince contract. His deal with the Rio is essentially a four-wall deal that gives him control of the Club Rio and restaurant space. However, all parties are very happy with the deal. “Prince has been extremely respectful of our property and our partnership,” said Harrah’s nightlife guru Pauly Freedman when contacted. “We are professionals with lots of experience and know-how,”he added, “Prince knows that, and we will be working together to ensure that this project is a success.” We asked Freedman what it was like to suddenly be on a first name basis with a musical legend and the usually businesslike boss smiled, “It’s pretty cool, I don’t think it’s really hit me yet.”
Downtown Gets Shagged
When artist Josh ‘Shag’ Agle brought his iconic and retro-cool show, ‘Shag with a Twist’ to Las Vegas, he came to the Eye on Vegas to help preview the show and our readers got an opportunity to shape the future of the show. After a successful engagement at the Harmon Theater, the Eye on Vegas has helped ‘Shag with a Twist’ land a new home at the Plaza Hotel and Casino downtown. “The minute I saw ‘Shag With A Twist,’ I knew the show belonged on Fremont Street,” said Jeff Victor, president of the Fremont Street Experience who was one of our readers to attend the preview viewing. “‘Shag With A Twist’ is a fun and smart commentary on a not-too-distant era that is executed with a modern flair, all of which parallels the spirit of downtown Vegas. It’s a great show that keeps you entertained throughout.” With a move to a larger, 500-seat theater, producers are unveiling a new set that includes 17-foot backdrops and larger than life set pieces that were unable to be part of the initial show because of space limitations. For the uninformed, ‘Shag with a Twist’ is a swinging retro show where cartoon-like characters come to life when a Tupperware party turns into a murder mystery. “This show is a perfect fit for the Plaza,” said Dan Wilson, the Plaza’s General Manager. “It is fresh and original, full of fun and is a great match with the retro-theme that extends throughout our property.”
We’re All Hobos
Last week saw the successful opening of the new casual, late-night concept Hobo and Gypsy’s located in the old IHOP space on the corner of Tropicana and Dean Martin Boulevard (formerly Industrial Road). Groups from PURE Management Group, Restaurant Guy Savoy, STACK, Cirque du Soleil, Greenspun Media, TAO, Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, Sushi Roku, BOA Steakhouse, Napkin Nights and the MGM Grand, just to name a few, all stopped by to check out the new concept and enjoy executive chef Chris Palmeri’s eclectic, comfort food menu. Hobos and Gypsy’s is open from 6P-Noon daily and offers the industry a place to hang out in a relaxed and non-pretentious environment with a décor that features hundreds of Vegas’ familiar faces and fantastic fare that leaves plenty left in the wallet for after. The outlet doesn’t just host the restaurant but also the Las Vegas Review Journal’s ‘Best of Poll’ #1 rated Karaoke Lounge (2006). Already spotted on the karaoke stage was one legendary session from former Light Group impresario Sean Christie, “It’s the most fun I’ve had in two years,” he noted after handing off the microphone. Look for several cutting-edge promotions to hit the streets in coming weeks from H&G, in the meantime, patrons receive a free mimosa with every breakfast entrée from 6A-Noon .

Impressionist Gordie Brown was very good while he headlined downtown at the Golden Nugget, but he’s found a perfect fit for his show in his new 800-seat theater at the Venetian. A ballroom near the Blue Man Group’s theater was converted to a raked showroom that has created an intimate environment with no bad seats.
The Montreal native, who was a political cartoonist in Canada before going into show business, has honed and crafted a fast-paced unpredictable show featuring his singing skill, incredible rapid-fire jokes, and adlibbing skillfully wrapped in tremendous impressions. You are never bored and can’t predict what he’ll do next. His act is definitely built around humor and less around painstaking celebrity recreations like fellow Mirage headliner Danny Gans’ act.
The likeable Brown spent five years polishing his act in Lake Tahoe and Reno and then at the Golden Nugget downtown. Siegfried & Roy’s longtime manager Bernie Yuman has taken over guiding his career and this move to the Venetian is definitely a home run. Adding to the show’s success is a dynamite five-member band and flexible light-panel backdrops. Tickets for the must-see show are $64 to $74; call 702-414-1000.
At the time the $10 million, 1,065-room Stardust resort opened on July 2, 1958, it was the worlds’ largest resort. It was also the prototype of the mass-market casino resort like Circus Circus and Excalibur. This week the 48-year-old Stardust closed to make room for the $4 billion Echelon Place. A public auction for Stardust items will be held Nov. 17 - 21, with inspection dates being held Nov. 13-16.of items Personally the Stardust holds a lot of great memories for me. It was the first Las Vegas hotel I visited in 1958 with my mother and on Oct. 28, I saw the resort’s last headliner show starring the incomparable Steve and Eydie backed by a 28-piece orchestra with her. It was a moment I’ll always cherish.
The Stardust encountered many milestones over the years. It was defined from the start by an innovative three-dimensional, 16-foot-diameter model of the solar system making up its facade. It pioneered the Strip’s first keno lounge and staged the town’s first topless stage production. In 1964, the Stardust added a nine-story tower and with 1,470 rooms, it remained Las Vegas’ largest hotel-casino until the International opened in 1969. In 1975, the resort opened its $2 million, 8,000-square-foot race and sports book with an unbelievable $100,000 limit.
The Stardust’s infamous early mob years were exploited in the hit film “Casino.” The mob controlled days ended when The Boyd Group purchased the property in 1985.
It was the Stardust that solidified the iconic image of the Las Vegas showgirl when it imported the “Lido de Paris” from France for the hotel’s opening. From 1978 through 1981, Siegfried & Roy were the specialty act in the show. The elaborate production ran through February 1991, and it was followed by “Enter the Night” through 1999. Wayne Newton headlined at the hotel from 2000 to 2005.
Then there are many fun facts such as the Stardust operated on the scale of a major city in the 1970s. It boasted a 72,000-square-foot casino, the world’s largest at the time, and had its own power plant, a laundry that washed 11,000 sheets and pillowcases daily, dining rooms that served 40,00 meals a week and a security force bigger than most police department.
It’s easy to go on and on about the Stardust’s colorful history but suffice to say it will be missed.
It is official now, Michael Gaughan, 63, now owns the 10-month-old South Coast outright and the south Strip property is renamed South Point. Gaughan’s plans to add space for several more restaurants including Michael’s, the upscale gourmet eatery that has been a dining magnet at the Barbary Coast since 1981. The new Michael’s will relocate next spring and almost be a carbon copy of the current eatery with 12 booths and four tables in the middle of the room. Michael’s will remain open at the Barbary Coast until the move.
South Point features 1,350 rooms, an 80,000-square-foot casino, a 300-seat race and sports book, 600-seat bingo hall, and a 4,400-seat equestrian complex. Gaughan could begin construction on a third hotel tower by the end of 2007 or early 2008. In addition, the South Point has 40,000 square feet for future casino space and 30,000 square feet of potential public space.
The Carmel Room at the Rampart Casino in northwest Las Vegas is presenting another season of Afternoon Tea costing $29. The highly successful tea parties from last year have been complemented by the addition of a classic Sunday brunch for $39. Afternoon Tea and Brunch is available every Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., call 702-507-5955.
Las Vegas attorney James “Bucky” Buchanan, whose “Las Vegas Law” reality show aired 12 episodes on Court TV this year, and Chip Lightman, who was Mirage headliner Danny Gans’ manager for awhile, are teaming up to own and operate the old-time Las Vegas restaurant Coachman’s Inn on Eastern Avenue and Desert Inn Road beginning next year.

NORM: Gordie Brown gets gig on ‘Late Show’
One month after opening on the Strip, Gordie Brown has landed on “Late Show With David Letterman.”
The big night will be Nov. 15, when Brown, the new headliner at The Venetian, gets four minutes as part of Impressionist Week on the CBS show.
Brown’s manager, Bernie Yuman, recently informed Brown just before he went on stage of the new theater at The Venetian.
“Talk about an added rush,” said Brown, who will be making his late-night debut. “I’m still smiling.”
In September, Ronn Lucas was selected for one of the spots during Letterman’s Ventriloquist Week.
Brown is working with his friend Bruce Fine on what material to go with for the golden opportunity.
He’s leaning toward the golf or guitar sketches, which feature well-known personalities such as Garry Shandling, Chris Rock and Jim Carrey. Brown said he may have a surprise or two.
Brown is well-known in Canada, where he grew up and appeared as the lead character in a 1999 TV drama entitled “Twice In A Lifetime.” In it, he played an angel who got to fight for a person who had died but was granted a second chance to turn around his or her life.
Brown got his start in Las Vegas when he auditioned for “Melinda: First Lady of Magic” in 1988. He was hired by the Saxe family, which produced the show, as guest performer.
Brown and David Saxe became best friends, and Saxe was best man at Brown’s wedding.

$40,000 PER NIGHT: Just Like Hef
New Sky Villa suite at Palms is modeled after famed Playboy creator.
By Sonja Padgett/Las Vegas Review Journal
In the business of gambling, luxury suites are considered the fruits of a high roller’s labors.
But not the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa suite at the Palms. It doesn’t matter how much you play, win or lose, if you want to stay there, you’re going to have to pay for it, said resort President George Maloof.
The price? A cool $40,000 per night.
“People ask, ‘Why so expensive?’ ” Maloof said. “Because that’s part of the experience.”

PARIS LAS VEGAS EMPLOYEES: Sports book workers probed.
Underreporting of tips is focus of investigation.
By Francis McCabbe and Howard Stutz
Las Vegas Review Journal
The Paris Las Vegas sports book on the Strip was closed Saturday and its ticket writers suspended pending an investigation that employees were underreporting their income from tips, officials said.
“We became aware of a possible underreporting of income by Paris sports book employees on Thursday,” said David Strow, spokesman for Harrah’s Entertainment, which owns and operates Paris.
Strow said the Gaming Control Board and the Internal Revenue Service were informed immediately of the allegations as per regulations.
“Pending an investigation by those agencies, all of the employees (ticket writers) of the Paris sports book have been suspended,” he said.

SHOOTING STARS: Illusionist settles into Luxor suite
By Carol Cling/Las Vegas Review Journal
Criss Angel has a new home. Literally.
His A&E series, “Criss Angel: Mindfreak,” isn’t going anywhere — it’s the cable channel’s highest-rated series.
But when the third-season shoot begins today at the Luxor, Angel won’t even have to leave the pyramid — because his permanent address is now the Luxor’s presidential suite.
In addition to more real-meets-surreal illusions, the 26 half-hour segments (plus a one-hour finale) will feature “a kind of comical side,” with “behind-the-scenes stuff,” Angel reports. “People are more interested in what it’s really like to put this thing together, along with showing them illusions.”
Among the illusions he plans for this season: “dematerializing” while in the driver’s seat of a speeding Lamborghini and floating to the top of the Luxor’s atrium.
A shooting schedule will be posted weekly in the show’s production office (located in the Luxor Galleria shopping area) during the 22-week shoot, enabling locals and tourists alike to participate in the production.
“For me,” Angel says of the ever-changing crowds, “that’s a buffet that never ends.”

SHOW REVIEW: ‘Forever Plaid’
Square Rooting: ‘Plaid’s’ lads may not be that cool, but they’re worth cheering for.
By Mike Weatherford/Las Vegas Review Journal
“Forever Plaid” lets you root for the underdog, onstage and off.
You won’t see any other Las Vegas showmen stricken by the almost simultaneous need for an asthma inhaler, milk of magnesia and something to plug a nosebleed.
hat’s the endearing appeal of the Four Plaids, the fictional 1950s harmony group that finds itself pulled down from the heavens for the big-time gig it always rehearsed for, but was denied by a fatal encounter with a busload of schoolgirls bound for a Beatles concert.

Eating for a good cause
By Len Butcher
If you like food and you want a real treat, but a bit away from the hustle and bustle and fancy restaurants on the Strip, you just might want to mark November 16 on your calendar. That’s when students from the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration will host the fifth annual Friends of Nevada Banquet at UNLV. Not only will you be served fine cuisine, but you’ll be helping a good cause, as the banquet is a fundraiser for Poverello House, a non-profit organization providing shelter to the homeless in North Las Vegas and Henderson. All proceeds from the banquet go to the Poverello House
I have attended this event several times and I have to give two thumbs up to the UNLV Hotel College students who are responsible for all aspects of the event — from the planning and execution, to the design and preparation of the menu items and all associated service. Don’t know who all their teachers are, but hats off to them as these students perform as well as most professionals working in established eateries.
To get you started, there’s an open bar that includes cocktails, specialty beers, and wines, all selected by the students. Drinks are included in the ticket price of $65 for the event. The banquet itself features a gourmet menu of dishes based on recipes from famous chefs that have appeared on UNLV’s own Chef Lambertz show, This Ain’t No Buffet. I don’t know what the menu is because it’s a surprise. All I can tell you is that you won’t be disappointed. To add to the festivities, several items will also be available for silent auction and there will be door prizes.
Dinner, which begins at 7 p.m., is served in the Boyd Dining Room on the 2nd floor of UNLV Hotel College. There will be a reception and Silent Auction at 6. For more information and reservations, call Valerie Nehmer at 702-895-1330 or if you’d rather email her, just type in valerie.nehmer@unlv.edu. You can reserve individual seats or tables for eight people. Major credit cards and checks are accepted, but you better reserve early as seating is limited to 150.
For those of you who like to support the community and like trying something a little different, this is the ticket. Bon appetit!
