Olivia Harrison, widow of The Beatles‘ George Harrison, says Las Vegas was the third choice for the Cirque du Soleil show “Love.” (The Mirage). She told Newsweek’s Las Vegas freelancer Steve Friess: “When George was alive, there was a plan to create it here in London. That didn’t happen, and then it was going to be in New York, and, of course, September 11 happened, and that was a very difficult time”

Nicolas Cage’s next thriller, the futuristic “Next,” is scheduled to film in Las Vegas July 10-14.
“Love” conquers all: England’s print media - or at least the Sunday Telegraph “ is claiming that Friday’s gala opening of “Love” at the Mirage will mark the end of one of the longest feuds in entertainment history. No, not between Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono (who appear to have settled into a sort of truce) but between Ono and Cynthia Lennon, John Lennon’s first wife. Cynthia is quoted as saying, “I’ve tried to reconcile the situation. I’ve tried to get Sean and Julian together because they are such good friends.” That’s Sean Ono Lennon, 30, and Julian Lennon, who at 43 is three years older than John Lennon was when he was killed. The two camps have been at odds, often publicly, since Lennon’s death.

Five venues along the Las Vegas Strip regularly feature dueling pianos - Harrah’s, Hooters, New York-New York, Paris Las Vegas and the new South Coast. Prior to the Strip, Main Street station downtown opened in 1996 with dueling pianos, which lasted about eight months. The dueling pianos theme was solidified when it was introduced at New York-New York’s Bar at Times Square in 1997. The piano party is so popular at New York-New York that a cover charge has been introduced. Harrah’s remodeled its La Playa Lounge in 2004 to accommodate a dueling-piano act, which is identical twins Kimberley and Tamara Pinegar.

Beatles’ legacy expands

Cost: $69, $99, $125 and $150
Info: (702) 792-7777 or (800) 963-9634Tony & Lloyd have accumulated a respectable list of actual, real, honest-to-god credits. For more information, grab a donut and visit right now.At some point, the Beatles become a part of your life. Perhaps you were around when they first hit American shores in the 1960s and you watched them on The Ed Sullivan Show (in black and white, no less). Or maybe you discovered them the second time around–when The White Album was reissued, or Yellow Submarine came out on DVD and you watched it over and over … and over again. Now there’s an entirely new way to experience the Fab Four’s music with The Beatles LOVE, in nightly previews at The Mirage in anticipation of its premiere on June 30.The collaboration between the Beatles and Cirque du Soleil began in 2000 with casual discussions between George Harrison and Cirque founder Guy Laliberté. Efforts to find a creative balance between the imagination of Cirque’s creators and the Beatles’ oeuvre stalled after Harrison’s death in late 2001. However, the dream never went away and the fruits of this determination can now be seen onstage, including many of your favorites: Lady Madonna, Sgt. Pepper, Fool on the Hill, Lucy in the Sky and the Octopus’ Garden. As the Beatles’ legendary producer Sir George Martin described it, there are “bits” of 130 Beatles songs in the production, digitally mixed into 27 different production numbers. He stresses the point that LOVE is not a “best of” the Beatles songbook, but rather a collective balance of 45 years of musicianship, from four men who forever changed the history of popular music. Add to that more than 6,000 speakers in a custom-built theater-in-the-round (including one in every seat back), high-definition video projections of 100-foot digital images and a youthful cast of 60 from all over the world, and you have a show that should suit the taste of Las Vegas visitors for many years to come. Or, as Martin shared: “We’d love to give some love and hope to a new generation.”
Team members have been working six days a week, 12 hours per day preparing LOVE. Creation director Chantal Tremblay works closely with both the producers and the creative team in order to keep the “machine” moving along. She concedes that this show had to be done “in reverse,” meaning that the music came before the storyline. As the script began to connect with the music, the environment and performers were decided–quite different from the typical Cirque creative process.
“We learned to do it a new way,” Tremblay said. “It’s a show that goes to many different places: colors, emotions and environment. There were many challenges along the way.”
Yet, as everyone connected with LOVE agrees, this is a project that comes from the purest of spirit and intentions: a creation truly made with love.

NORM: Spelling had love affair with Vegas.
Before “C.S.I.” and “Las Vegas,” there was ABC’s “Vega$.“Aaron Spelling’s fascination with Las Vegas turned into a three-year prime-time show that was equal parts glitz and grit. “Aaron loved Las Vegas. I got the impression he wanted to live here,” film legend Tony Curtis recalled Saturday. Curtis played casino mogul Philip Roth the first season of “Vega$.”Spelling, one of Hollywood’s most prolific TV producers, died Friday at age 83 in Los Angeles.Robert Urich played private detective Dan Tanna, who chased criminals and chicks in a 1957 Ford Thunderbird. His office was in the Desert Inn, and his home featured a living room drive-through.“Vega$” was among Spelling’s assembly-line TV hits that ran the gamut from “Love Boat” to “Fantasy Island,” “Starsky and Hutch,” “Charlie’s Angels” and “Beverly Hills 90210.”Spelling and co-producer Duke Vincent named the star of “Vega$” after Dan Tana’s restaurant, one of their favorite L.A. haunts.
They based the detective’s life on real-life Las Vegas private investigator Eddie La Rue, a leg man for everyone from Elvis to then-mob attorney Oscar Goodman.
“Some (Hollywood) people came and talked to me and followed me around for a week or two,” La Rue, 65, said by telephone Saturday.
“Vega$” didn’t make an early impression on Burton Cohen, longtime president and CEO of the Desert Inn.
“I had seen the pilot they shot at the Maxim and a warehouse. Aaron and Duke came up to my office and asked if I had seen the pilot.
“I said ‘Yes,’ and I told them I thought it sucked. Aaron got up and came over kissed me on the cheek.
“He said, ‘If you had liked it, we would have missed our target audience,’” Cohen said.

2006 event should top last year’s poker series.
By Howard Stutz. From: The Las Vegas Review Journal
The 2005 World Series of Poker was the event’s most successful run in its history — almost 30,000 players participated in 45 events, competing for a record prize pool of more than $103 million. In the $10,000 buy-in World Championship No-limit Texas Hold’em event, a record 5,619 players entered with all nine players at the final table winning at least $1 million. The 2006 series stands to be even bigger.Harrah’s Entertainment executives are projecting that some 41,000 participants will enter this year’s 45-event competition. PUTTING OUT THE VIBE: SIN CITY’S SEXIEST.

What is sexy? It’s an attitude. A vibe. A sense of confidence that stops short of arrogance. It is, we submit, a quality shared by these Las Vegans who we think fit the bill as Las Vegas’ 10 sexiest people.Don’t whine. We know that choosing just 10 sexy people from the mecca of sexiness that is Las Vegas is risky business. MIKE WEATHERFORD: Even Cirque not immune to excess.
From: The Las Vegas Review Journal
The closing of “Hairspray,” combined with the news that, yes, Cirque du Soleil has an Elvis-themed show in the pipeline, isn’t encouraging for those who say the Strip is Cirque-du-saturated and needs more variety. It’s no longer impossible to envision a Strip where each of MGM Mirage’s 10 casinos (11 if you count Project CityCenter) has its very own Cirque. “If I could put my hands on 10 or 12 theaters a year, I believe I could come up with 12 distinctive shows,” Cirque’s chief executive, Guy Laliberté, said recently. But as the Beatles-themed “Love” edges toward its opening-night gala on Friday, there are signals that not even Cirque is immune from the big hurt “Love” and a big-budget rival, “Phantom — The Las Vegas Spectacular,” could put on the rest of the market.More Here:

NORM: Phantom gala is vision in red.
From The Las Vegas Review Journal
It was Phantom meets Vegas at Saturday’s gala party of “Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular.”At every turn, phantom-esque touches transformed The Venetian’s main ballroom into a red velvetine-draped 19th-century Paris opera house. The cavernous room was abloom with 5,000 roses, most of them in table centerpieces, on ornate candelabra at the buffet or attached individually to the backs of chairs.Overhead, in the center of the room, the star of the party: a massive chandelier formed with 20,000 red carnations.“It took 13 people three days to assemble it,” said David Tapper, catering conference manager for The Venetian.Overlooking the revelers from one of two opera boxes were phantom royalty, creator Andrew Lloyd Webber and director Hal Prince, seated with comedy icon Carol Burnett. Wearing a black suit and pink tie, Brent Barrett, Friday’s opening-night phantom, worked the room like the phantom, popping up everywhere.
All the bars were built on ice blocks amid ice sculptures portraying show scenes. Phantinis, a pomegranate juice martini with raspberry vodka, were poured down an ice luge that resembled the mask of the phantom.
Guests indulged in a variety of fare from executive banquet chef Oliver DuBreuil’s kitchen, including foie gras lollypop with black truffle and macadamia crust; vichyssoise shooters with fried leek; golden fig and marzipan tarts; satchel of duck with apricots; and pear mousse martinis.
Partygoers entered the ballroom through the phantom’s lair, a candle-lit “tunnel” with rolling knee-high fog.
“We had the same thing at our convention,” cracked Mike Bass, sports editor of the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press, referring to last week’s Associated Press Sports Editors convention at the MGM Grand.
The Food Network will air the party later this year on “Behind the Bash.”

John Katsilometes on how the flip of a quarter determined the cast for opening night of ‘Phantom: Las Vegas Spectacular’ at the VenetianÂ
Even in a $40 million production, the most important decisions can rest on the toss of a quarter. That was the case for “Phantom: Las Vegas Spectacular,” which ended its preview period and held its opening-night premiere on Saturday at the Venetian. Because the show is so physically (and vocally) demanding, the production alternates a total of six world-class performers in the lead roles of the Phantom, Christine and Carlotta. And, of course, all those performers would prefer to take the stage on opening night. So they flipped for it. Actually, the Phantoms (Anthony Crivello and Brent Barrett) and Christines (Sierra Boggess and Elizabeth Loyacano) were the principals who agreed to the coin toss. Taking the role of Carlotta on Saturday was Elena Jeanne Batman; Geena Jeffries Mattox stepped aside voluntarily so she could take in the opening performance with her family.
Crivello and Loyacano won the toss (which, as Barrett said, was conducted “by the powers that be”) and were onstage opening night.
“Obviously all leads are great, so that isn’t even an issue,” a pumped-up Crivello said after Saturday’s soaring performance. “It was the best way, a fair way, to make that decision.”
At least one offbeat, Vegas-centric idea was floated.
“They wanted us to spin a roulette wheel, and I thought that idea was heinous” said Barrett, who along with Boggs and Mattox joined the rest of the cast for Saturday’s curtain call. “We’re artists. We’re not football players.”

Mystery of the RNG Unlocked
by John Robison from Strictly Slots magazineThe god in the machine. That’s what Frank Scoblete calls the slot machine’s Random Number Generator (RNG) in his book Break the One-Armed Bandits. Like Zeus on Mount Olympus, the RNG is the arbiter of your fate at the slot machine. The RNG determines whether your spin will result in Megabucks, a bust, or something in between. Nothing in a slot machine is more mysterious than the RNG. Slot machine manufacturers perpetuate and encourage the mystery by revealing very few details about how the RNGs in their machines operate. But the truth about the RNG is far more mundane than any of the legends that superstitious slot players have spread about it.Before we look at how the RNG in a slot machine generates random numbers, we have to define what a random number is. Let’s try an experiment. As quickly as you can, think of three random numbers between one and 10.More Here:

First off the bat, let me be perfectly honest with you - I believe in psychics and their ability to read minds and predict things. So, when I first met “The Mentalist” at a private party held by Rich Little and his wife, Marie, I was not surprised at what Gerry McCambridge was able to accomplish. As a matter of record, I happen to actually date a person with the above abilities. McCambridge arrived in Las Vegas last July. He had a three-week contract to appear at the Rampart Casino, which was extended for 47 weeks. Like all entertainers, Gerry felt his act belonged on the Las Vegas Strip and on June 2nd “The Mentalist” opened in his own room at the Stardust Hotel. The show is a mixture of comedy, mind reading, intuition and strange predictions. It’s full of audience participation - lots of it as a matter of fact. One of McCambridge’s biggies starts with the first person he calls upon in the audience and concludes at the end of the show (lots of people between start and finish). That’s all I can say about that particular part of his show because you have to see this guy to believe that he can truly predict things. The entire 90 minutes flows very quickly and you leave with your mind not believing what you actually saw with your own eyes. He is unbelievable and very, very entertaining!McCambridge has appeared on many national television shows including “The Today Show” and “Late Night with David Letterman” to name a few. He starred in and executive produced NBC’s “The Mentalist” television special which currently airs worldwide. He was voted the World’s Top Entertainer in the area of comedy and Mentalism in 2005 by his peers.“The Mentalist” is performing at the Hypnotic Lounge inside the Stardust Resort seven days a week. Showtimes are Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are $27.95 and may be obtained by calling the Stardust box office at (702) 732-6325, or check out his Web site at:Â www.mentalist.com.

Broadway is dark tonight.
With more misses than hits, the city’s affair with Broadway has the Strip licking its wounds. Here’s why.
By David McKee from Las Vegas City Life
Broadway is sizzling. Broadway-in-Vegas is fizzling. Even as the Great White Way is seeing record attendance and its boffo-est box office ever ($862 million this season), it’s a different story out here. Attempts to transplant the Broadway musical to the Las Vegas Strip have found the soil infertile and the tilling arduous. If the uneasy marriage of art and commerce that is Broadway theater is enjoying one of its periodic honeymoons, Vegas and Broadway are still negotiating the pre-nup. Casino resorts want shows that will act as “tentpoles,” running year after year. But while a Showboat or Miss Saigon might sustain business for months or even a year, as tentpoles they’re wont to collapse like Britney Spears’ first marriage, another Strip spectacle that didn’t go the distance. The latest attempt to consummate the Vegas-Broadway marriage occurs Saturday, when Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular, an adapted-for-the-Strip edition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, is rolled out at the Venetian. If it’s a success, the timing will be fortuitous indeed.More Here:

PLAYER’S EDGE: Terrible’s Casino overhauls its slot club.
Terrible’s Casino has recently restructured its slot club — and has simplified point redemptions at the food outlets and gift shop. Members now earn one point for every $1 coin-in (except for nine video poker machines where they earn one point for every $2 coin-in). Points can be redeemed for cash (500 points equals $1 cashback), buffet and bar comps (100 points equals one comp dollar) or Bougainvillea Café comp, gift shop items or items from the players club catalog (200 points equals one comp dollar). All members must get a new card. Old cards can be deposited into a special drum located in front of the Player’s Club. On Wednesday, the casino will draw for 20 $500 cash prizes. Players must be present to win. (This change affects only the Las Vegas casino. The Player’s Club at the Pahrump properties remains unchanged.) More PLAYERS EDGE here:

Bang for your megabucks.
The Vegas-ized Phantom is more than just eye candy. BY KELLE SCHILLACI
Las Vegas City Life
The focus of most reviews of the Venetian’s brand new Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular will likely be divided between two issues. First, the reviewer will pose the obvious question: Does Phantom have the staying power, now that Vegas’ brief Broadway honeymoon bubble has burst? After all, other über-hyped recent imports, including Avenue Q and Hairspray, have bitten the dust big-time, despite receiving similar modifications to suit the tourist-heavy Vegas audience. Will Phantom offer the magic combo these other shows failed to deliver? This leads to the second question: How will audiences react to the shortened version of the famous Andrew Lloyd Webber love story, about the beautiful opera singer and the bitterly obsessed opera ghost?
The show, which plays out to over 2 1/2 hours on Broadway, has been cut to a dazzling, pyrotechnic-infused, intermission-free, 95-minute show here in Vegas, by famed B’way director Harold Prince. Phantom-lite definitely delivers a version customized for those with shorter attention spans — or, more likely, those OK with cramming in a bit of culture between blackjack hands, as long as it’s brief and spectacular.

From “Eye On Vegas”Past PRIME – Breaking News
We know, we know, we’ve been hearing all sorts of rumors too. We can’t give you many details because they seem to be pretty hush-hush and rather un-concluded up to this point. From what we have been told from sources within the building, the majority of PRIME’s management team has been suspended pending investigation of the outlet’s comp procedures. Furthermore, several members of the service staff have also either been suspended pending or released. MGM Mirage representatives were predictably tight-lipped on the matter saying only, “We do not comment on personnel issues, possibly in part because final decisions have yet to be made on this matter. Stay tuned for more news to come. Andre’s Day
Last year Mayor Oscar Goodman designated June 30 as ‘Chef Andre Rochat Day’ in Las Vegas as a way to honor one of the city’s longest serving chefs. Although sometimes overlooked as one of Vegas’ culinary pioneers, Rochat had celebrity chefs like Wolfgang Puck and Emeril Lagasse beat by 20 years! In 1973 Rochat opened his Savoy French Bakery and in 1980 unveiled his Andre’s French Restaurant. A jewel in the crown of downtown Las Vegas, it is still considered one of the city’s most romantic and elegant restaurants nearly three decades later. To celebrate Andre Rochat Day, a collection of colleagues and chefs will be gathering downtown to help celebrate the culinary mastermind’s day with the man himself.
Light Shines Bright
It’s hard to imagine Las Vegas before Light Nightclub. We know it’s only been four years, but time does fly when you’re having fun, and at Light, you’re definitely having fun! Light Nightclub celebrated its fourth anniversary this past weekend with a celebrity poker tournament that led into a blowout bash at the upscale Bellagio nightclub. At the card table poker chips were flying fast and furious as a collection of stars attempted to bluff and bully their way to the $75,000 first place prize. As the tourney started, ‘My Name is Earl’ and ‘American X’ husky co-star Ethan Suplee didn’t last long taking home the official title of ‘first player eliminated.’ As the chips continued to fall, both heiress Nicky Hilton and the sizzling Sara Foster proved they were more than just pretty poker faces, yet neither outlasted Jessica Alba who was determined to make a run of things with a poker pro dishing out advice to the ‘Sin City’ star. When all was said and done it was former Brittany Spears legal beagle David Chesnoff who took home the top prize and a sack of cash. After the cards had been dealt, everyone headed over to Light Nightclub so the real partying could begin. While Leonardo got cozy with his new girl-toy (see Leonard-O below) and the afore-mentioned Hilton did the same with ‘Entourage’ star Kevin Connelly, actress Michelle Rodriquez obeyed the terms of her probation by staying sober - thankfully, rocking out to Acca Dacca’s ‘Highway to Hell’ is always court mandated. Elsewhere in the club former undisputed Heavyweight champ Lennox Lewis pounded biscuits with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Mekhi Phifer missed his girlfriend, Hank Azaria passed out Altoids, Shannon Elizabeth gave out divorce advice, and ballers Jermaine O’Neal and Tracy McGrady were dressed to the nines to meet the always strict Light dress code, “This place is insane,â€? they cooed. “I never see more girls than when I come here.” And that’s coming from two NBA All Stars, nuff said! Congratulations to the Light Group on reaching this fantastic milestone.
Â
Out of Touch
Pop music duo Daryl Hall and John Oates might just be this past weekend’s biggest losers. Okay, pun totally intended. The two were scheduled to perform Saturday night at Lake Las Vegas but cancelled at the last minute because, according to one source, they felt, “it was too hot to perform.â€? Of course, the pair had become acclimated to the air-conditioned environment of the Ritz Carlton suites they had been occupying in the days leading up to the concert. From what we hear, Lake Las Vegas is already moving forward with a lawsuit against them. Â
Savoy is Sensational
The buzz is spreading across the country like wildfire, America has found its next great restaurant, and it is in (gasp) Las Vegas! Barely six weeks after opening,Restaurant Guy Savoy is firing on all cylinders and stunning a wide array of patrons from haute cuisine hungry locals to international travelers flying to Vegas simply to dine with Savoy. Forget about bells and whistles, Savoy’s spacious dining room with its vaulted ceiling, trademark rectangle walls and glass enclosed patio is serving some of the best food anywhere in the country. Its removed-from-the-casino location simply reinforces that this is not your brother’s Las Vegas restaurant, it’s a new era of fine dining at a top level rarely seen. The menu offers many nods to Savoy himself with traditional dishes that have thrilled his Paris dining room for years, the Peas All Around and the powerhouse Artichoke and Truffle Soup being prime examples. Entering the dining room has a calming effect, teams of servers hustle around the dining room barely making a noise and there are no car horns, police sirens or screaming tourists, it’s a culinary oasis among the Las Vegas ad nausea.
Guy Savoy is a different type of restaurant altogether, unlike other brand expansions; Savoy has royal blood within its walls. Executive Chef Damien Dulas was handpicked by Savoy to run the kitchen alongside Adam Sobel, the talented American chef de cuisine who already has one James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant on his mantle with Bradley Ogden’s Restaurant located in the casino below. The piece de resistance, as they say, comes in the form of the affable Franck Savoy, Guy’s son, and the linchpin of the restaurant. As the staff effortlessly provides what might just be the city’s best service, the youthful enthusiasm of Savoy’s namesake is contagious, infecting each table he touches with subtle humility and a charming sense of humor. The combination is a fantastic fit of youth, energy, class and superb fine dining fare in a restaurant that doesn’t seem as stuffy and pretentious as it could be, heck, maybe as it should be (at least to some old-guard critics). The biggest difference between Las Vegas and Paris, or so we are told, is that Paris is a bustling, loud dining room with tables right on top of tables. In Las Vegas, where loud and bustling is part of everyday life, the dining room takes on a toned-down and quiet demeanor. While definitely not a bad thing, it’s a rarity, making it yet another element of Savoy that stands out.
Don’t fool yourself, the opportunity to partake in a dining experience such as this does not come lightly. The ten course tasting menu will cost $290 per person, but it is pure luxurious elegance at its best. With sommeliers Michael Shearin and Paul Ellis working a 1,500 selection wine list so thick it comes with its own table (seriously), you definitely needn’t miss out. In fact, they ensure you won’t with the Champagne cart, an alluring collection of Champagnes served by the glass which lures nearly 80 percent of the customers to start their epic meal with a glass of bubbly, or so we are told. The Champagne cart isn’t the only trick-on-wheels up Savoy’s sleeve; the dining room boasts a cheese cart with a large selection of cow, sheep and goat’s milk cheeses, a bread cart with a multitude of selections baked daily that, as a Las Vegas first, provides a bread and meal pairing and a dessert cart boasting some of pastry chef Uyen Nguyen’s best work to date, including the playfully delicious Raspberry Lollipop.
Restaurant Guy Savoy was built with one goal in mind, to be one of the top restaurants anywhere in the world. If this is how far they have gotten in six weeks, just wait until they’ve had six months! Restaurant Guy Savoy is located in the Augustus Tower at Caesars Palace and is open Wednesday-Sunday. For reservations call 702.731.7110.
Phantom’s a Hit
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera may have gotten off to a bumpy start when the brilliant composer learned that his show was originally marquee’d as the ‘Las Vegas Phantom Spectacular’ during an interview in London a few weeks back. With Webber’s name added to the signage, ‘Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom Spectacular’ got off to a star-studded opening this past weekend. “This show is a MUST SEE, said LVFBM publisher Michael Politz barely hours after walking the red carpet with such stars as Carol Burnett, Robert Goulet and designer David Rockwell. “The stage spectacular is just that with everything that a successful Vegas show needs.
Dos Vida
MGM Grand’s  popular Diego eatery has already won over hundreds of Mexican food fans with its authentic fare and friendly staff. Now the outlet and MGM food & beverage brass are looking to capitalize on the success of Vida, a Friday night weekly promotion billed as a Latin flavored dance party, by adding a Saturday night offering to the Vida menu. With a concise blend of popular Latin music styles and delicious Latin-themed beverages, it’s no wonder Vida has been such a huge success. Vida starts at 10:30P on Friday and Saturday nights with a strict dress code and $10 cover charge for local men and out-of-state women (local women are admitted free of charge and out-of-town men have to cough up $20 each for cover).

EARL TURNER IS BACK!
Earl Turner, one of Las Vegas’ favorite performers, has found himself back in the city and better than ever - headlining at Sound Trax inside locals casino favorite Palace Station Hotel and Casino at 2411 West Sahara Avenue. Turner, who had been headlining in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina devastated the area, found himself among the many that were affected by the disaster – searching for loved ones and trying to find shelter for displaced friends. Turner has turned the tragic event into something positive by relocating many of his band members to Las Vegas and picking up where he left off.
“I knew I had to be back home in Las Vegas that week when my life changed forever. It’s times like these that people long for normalcy and just want things to be back to how they were. I’m overjoyed to be performing at Palace Station and to be reuniting my band members who were scattered after the hurricane,” said Turner. “I have always admired the Station Casinos’ philosophy and am thrilled to be a part of their family.”
Turner spent more than 15 years in Las Vegas and quickly became a favorite among locals and tourists alike who embrace his amazing musical talents and are welcoming him back with open arms. Despite less than three singing lessons and no dance lessons under his belt, Turner has proved to captivate audiences nationwide. Turner’s long list of accomplishments cannot go without notice: His hit single “Love Caught You By Surprise” reached the Top 50 chart. He’s drawn rave reviews from appearances in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami and St. Louis. Known for his unique style, Turner transforms original songs into his own intriguing style that showcases his natural talent. Within Turner’s first year of performing in Las Vegas, he received the title “Male Vocal Performer of the Year.” He has proven time and time again to have a profound impact in the Entertainment Capital of the World.
“Earl is a perfect fit for Palace Station and Sound Trax – we know our customers will be thrilled at his return to Las Vegas as many were fans from before,” said Judy Alberti, vice president of entertainment for Station Casinos.
Turner performs Thursday through Sunday at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $34.95, plus any applicable taxes, and can be purchased at all Station Casinos box offices by calling (702) 547-5300. Nevada residents can show their Nevada ID and receive $10 off regular, full-price admission; limit four. All ages welcome, those under 21 must be accompanied by an adult.

“BIG ELVIS” AT THE BARBARY COAST
Pete “Big Elvis” Vallee began singing as a youngster in his local church, where he was told that he sounded like a young Elvis. He is currently appearing at the Barbary Coast casino lounge Monday - Thursday from 3 - 6 pm. By the age of 13, Pete learned to play the guitar and put together an act. He was not prepared for the unbelievable response he received that year from a packed audience of students and parents when he sang “Jailhouse Rock” at a school talent contest. Pete began sitting in with local bands in Seattle and by the time he was 14, he had a regular gig with Ricky and the Starfires, playing with them every weekend and eventually moving with the band to Las Vegas, where he remained until moving back to Seattle to complete his studies.
A number of years later, Pete returned to Las Vegas, and began performing on a regular basis. This clean cut, good natured man with a voice that sounds like Elvis respects the King in every way.
A collector of Elvis memorabilia, Pete admires his namesake and tries to stay true to the King’s persona as a man who loved and was loved by his fans, and maintained a sense of loyalty to them. When Pete sings, his fans come alive and the party begins.
Pete’s repertoire includes an abundance of Elvis tunes, as well as Louis Armstrong, some country, gospel and other favorites. Pete also performs a number of charity events in the area.
Free admission.
