Everything Las Vegas Issue # 530
September 2nd, 2005

To all my members:
Please visit my new website at www.everythinglv.com
At the site you will see a banner to contribute to the hurricane relief fund via the Red Cross’ website.

We probably have many members that have been affected by this terrible situation and I think they need our help.

Once at the site, you will see various ways of contributing such as by credit card, mail and phone. Just choose the method that you prefer and fill out the form. Make sure you specify 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund.

I have also approached some of my entertainment contacts for ticket donations.

I have already received a commitment of 100 tickets from Larry G. Jones for his show. (this will be in Tuesdays newsletter)

Also interested are The Fashionistas who have offered tickets to be auctioned off for the relief fund.

Please note that my sponsor Hunter and I have set the date of October 1st as the date that the www.everythinglv.com website will be the official site where the newsletter will be posted. There will be no more email newsletters. All members will get an email when something new is posted to the site. This notification system has been welcomed by almost all of the members.

If you haven’t checked out the website, I suggest you do. You will find some very nice features there. This newsletter will also be posted there.

A Star Is Born.
Hometown girl Gordon is making her mark.
By Len Butcher

I’m always pleased to see Las Vegans do well — tennis great Andre Agassi, Atlanta Braves star pitcher, Greg Maddux, to name a few. Gives us even more pride in our city. Now there’s a new kid on the block and if she doesn’t become a star, something’s wrong in the universe.

She has beauty, talent, personality, ambition, drive, and more chutzpah than Donald Trump. Her name is Mikalah Gordon and I caught up with her last week getting her hair and nails done at Cavaricci’s Salon at the corner of Oakey and Rainbow. Oh, did I mention she was one of the contestants in last season’s American Idol, making it to 11th place before getting knocked out, or that she is just 17?

Born in Las Vegas, she attended several high schools, ending up at Cimarron, which she says, “I absolutely loved. The staff and students were great and I think a lot had to do with the fact that I was starting to find out who I was and where I wanted to go.”

  1. The new fomat is a great improvement to the newsletter. I also like the idea of incorporating one restaurant review per letter rather than doing a separate dining issue. The separate dining issue is often too long to read.

  2. I saw you had placed a link for American Red Cross for donations for Hurricane Katrina. I wanted your readers to know that if they donate at their local Lowe’s store the company will match their donation until they have reached 1 million in donations.
