Pay-for-play scandal entangles Celine Dion.

Celine Dion’s record company sought to artificially boost her popularity in
the months before her 2003 Caesars Palace debut by bribing radio stations
nationwide to play her music, according to documents released this week as part of
a burgeoning pay-for-play scandal rocking the music industry.

Sony BMG, the nation’s second-largest record company, agreed Monday to stop
bribing radio programmers and pay $10 million as part of an agreement springing
from an investigation by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer.

Calling the pay-for-play practice “pervasive,” Spitzer suggested other
industry giants still under investigation could face similar penalties.

  1. Congratulations Steve, website looks really good!
I look forward to contributing more information for your readers to your new website!

  2. Hi, Steve.

I LIKE your new website! It’s organized and, yes, easier to read than the newsletters.

I know you said font, etc, is still up in the air so I’d like to suggest/request that you use darker colors. The white background behind the text is great, but something more contrasting than medium gray and light blue (which is what I see) would make it easier for old eyes to read :)

Thanks, congratulations on the new website and keep up the good work!

  3. Yes !! .., type will be larger, large print or bold type. Would really enjoy “COLOR SCHEMES and GRAPHICS” and anything else to brighten up the Steve’s Everything Las Vegas Newsletter ! Good luck…, I hope you do it..

  4. Great Improvement. Enjoy the newsletter but with the improvements, its that much more enjoyable.

  5. Steve,
Love your newsletters and the idea of the website. It will be nice to SEARCH for show and restaurant reviews rather than having to read through all of them and remember what was said by the time of our next trip. Also, would like to see answers to readers questions posted rather than private replies. I would also like to see a separate section for the topics answered by the casino dealer and hope that will be a regular feature. I enjoy reading others trip reports. Maybe the front page could be your regular newsletter info with links for more info and searchable archived info on restaurants, shows and hotels.

  6. The way you used to put a line or a separator line between topics or “articles” was great but now if I am scanning the letter for things that are relevent to me, the topics don’t have any space between them so you know one paragraph is for one thing and the next paragraph is for something else. At least bold the first line of the new topic or something. That would be a great help. Othewise I just just the news letter and always look forward to getting it. Great job!

  7. Steve,

I like your new look. You finally did the right thing, by posting it online where it can be seen globalwide…

And now many others can join your 50,000 subscribers that you already have.

You work very hard at what you do to bring the best news, resources and offers for them…

    Wishing you the Best…
