TRIP REPORT

Dear Steve,
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for introducing us to Bob Cohen at the
Imperial Palace!
Although I did not get to meet Bob in person, I did get to speak with him on
the phone when he called me at home. What a gentleman. Bob set us up, three
couples, three nights, Wed Apr 13 thru Fri Apr 16, (with a late checkout of 9pm
on Sat no less) for an absolutely astoundingly $160 p/couple!! I am still
floored.

We all enjoyed the very neat and clean (although considered “Spartan” by
some rich, spoiled readers) accommodations and we were especially impressed with
the staff who couldn’t do enough for us.

Yes, the main elevators can be painfully slow at peak hours but by doing a
little exploring one can locate the lesser used elevators on your floor. One
warning though, DO NOT eat breakfast at the IP’s buffet. It is totally
disgusting. Either splurge and eat breakfast at Harrah’s buffet or drive to Palace
Station and have a wonderful delicious breakfast buffet for $4.95.

We rented a minivan from Payless at the airport. They have the best price for
that size vehicle, and that was quite “painless”. The Freestar was very
comfortable and did us well on our side trip to Hoover Dam.

We did the typical “touristy” things, Fremont Street, The Sirens of TI Show,
the volcano at Mirage, etc., since the other two couples we were with had
never been to Vegas. After we wore out the others, my wife and I would put them
to bed and then we would try and try our hands at the IP’s slot machines. We
found them to be very tight. We look back now and just consider our losses as a
donation to the IP
.
One more tip, The Rio’s Seafood Buffet is the best spent $25 (with the $10
off coupon) you can eat. I have never eaten so much lobster tail in my life!

Oops! I almost forgot the MAIN reason for our trip. To see Barry Manilow at
his new home at the Hilton Hotel is like dying and going to heaven! We have
seen Barry in concert many, many, times throughout the Philadelphia Tri-State
area since the late 70’s but this show shadows all the others by comparison.
Forget Celine and go see Barry. If you’re over 40 I guarantee goose bumps!

An absolutely wonderful trip thanks to Bob Cohen, Barry Manilow, and of
course you, Steve!

Everything Las Vegas Members Get-Together

Was very glad to meet you and Eileen at the meeting. Had a good time and
enjoyed the Larry G. Jones tickets (great show).

Tried to take my son to the Guiness Museum – got a coupon off the internet.
No longer in business. The show at the Stratosphere – Viva Las Vegas – my son
enjoyed it more than I did. Also saw the Mac King comedy show (starring Paul
Daniels). What a disappointment. It was ok I guess, but I expected to see Mac
King. I did though. He was in the audience!

Keep the newsletter coming. I hope to see you and Eileen again soon.

Legends In Concert

Hi Steve and Eileen!

Glad to see you guys made it back home safely. Paul and I are still on west
coast time and are having a difficult time adjusting.

It was very nice seeing you guys out there again this year. It really
strikes me as one of those “small world” situations….

I wanted to tell you that we did end up using your buy one get one ticket to
the Legends in Concert show and enjoyed it very much, (especially the Gloria
Estefan impersonator.) I am a Gloria Estefanatic…belong to her fan club,
have all her records, have followed her around on tour, so I definitely enjoyed
seeing her impersonator who did a pretty good job acting like Gloria.
Eileen, I really do appreciate your giving me the ticket. I probably
wouldn’t have gone otherwise.

I’m going to write about our experience at the Venetian probably later this
week and send it to you so that we can warn other members….there were a lot
of pretty serious screw ups, and I really don’t think I’d recommend that anyone
stay there. It’s a beautiful place to visit but we’ll never stay there
again.
I’ll write you more details later in the week. It’s late now and we just
lost our money at Saratoga Racino… haha…
Talk to you later….

Members Meeting

Good Morning,
I am so sorry we missed the members gathering on 4/23. Our trip to Vegas was
horrendous. We were scheduled to arrive in town on Friday but didn’t get there
till Saturday due to one mishap after another. Our flight from Manchester, NH
to Cincinnati was detoured to Columbus because of bad weather. Once in
Columbus we were on the ground for 2+ hours. After reboarding an it was announced
that we needed a mechanic to sign off on a problem and that there was only (1)
in the airport. 1 hour later we headed for Cincinnati with an outside chance
of catching the last flight to Vegas. The 20 minute flight lasted 55 minutes
and we were stranded. Rooms had been reserved in Cincinnati. OOps they ran out
of room after we had waited over 1+ hours in a line. We slept on the floor of
the airport. They did upgrade us to first class for the morning flight after we
waited another 45 minutes in another line. With the exception of the ticket
agent, all we dealt with were either rude or uncaring.
Once in Vegas it took nearly 1.5 hours to claim our baggage. There has to be
a better way to sort this out rather than 3 airlines at the same
carousel. Our reserved car was not ready, even though we had called to alert them of our
plight. I must admit they, Hertz, corrected the situation quickly and we were
on our way to Excalibur.
As soon as we reached Excalibur we felt at home. The valet team recognized us
immediately and had our car unloaded. There are definite advantages to
staying at the same place. Ah but our relief was short lived. Once inside we were
informed that because we arrived a day late our reservation had been lost and we
would need to wait in the worlds longest snake line. I asked to see a
supervisor as I had no intention of getting into yet another endless line. We were
whisked to the V.I.P. check in and in a matter of 3 minutes our situation was
handled in a calm and positive manner. We were given a room to our liking and
all was now well with The Tryon’s. However we were dead tired and opted for
sleep. The killer is that we missed 1 whole day of vacation, a day you can never
re-capture. May we will meet at some future gathering. We are headed back in
August. I will send a trip report later as all was not lost during this trip.
Gambling was good to us and we saw 3 very funny shows while there.

trip report

Dennis and I arrived in Vegas on April 20th without any problems. Checked
into the Imperial Palace through the VIP desk. Arrangements were made with Bob
Cohen, thanks to Steve. Our friends Marge and George who we met on our trip to
Florida in Feb..also joined us in Vegas. Unfortunately their room had quite a
few problems so I went to the front desk and changed their room. They were
lucky to get a room by the elevators that were quick. We got our exercise walking
down 4 flights of stairs every day. They really should fix the elevators
before the rooms. Our room was ok, sink peeling, shower dripping, bathroom small, but
ok. They were remodeling 2 rooms next to us. They have a jaquizzi in the room
and mirrors over the tub and bed.!!Want one of those next time.
The first night we joined Eileen and Steve (Mr. Vegas) for a nice dinner at
the Rib House in the IP. It was really good and we especially enjoyed the
company. Thanks again, guys, for a great evening. It was really sweet of you to get
an outfit for my grandson,Justin. Then it was off to the poker room. The IP
comps you $3 an hour for poker, which is a really high rate. It can be used in
restaurants, gift shops, shows, or the room bill.Played some machines too, but
we lost at everything.
Went to the Rio on Thurs. so our friends could see the show in the sky.
Played poker and won a little, played 3 card poker and lost. Saw Ron Lucas, an
excellent ventriloquist and comedian at the Rio. Back to our casino for dinner.
Hit the poker tables where everyone is very friendly. I got a straight flush
and won a $50 gift certificate to a 5th floor (nice) restaurant. Managed to lose
my chips over the night though.
Friday morning we rented a car from US rental for $22 and were off for Red
Rock Canyon. It is beautiful there. Looked at some model homes just for
fun-started at $389,000-no property-if your neighbor sneezes, you say God bless you.We
went to the Bellagio to watch a World Poker Tournament semi-finals. Had my
picture taken with the Unibomber, saw Phil Ivey and Jesus. Going back on Sunday
for the finals.Penny slots were very addictive. Saw some guy win $1400 on a 2
cent machine..
We had breakfast and went to the pool Sat. to relax. It was really crowded.
Managed to find the $2 blackjack table out there and won a little. At 3:30 we
got together with people who subscribe to this newsletter. People were very
pleasant. Steve gave away show tickets and t-shirts and Larry Jones did some of
his impersonations. Eileen gave me a lucky charm-Las Vegas nut she had made up.
Nice afternoon Played some slots-not much action and more poker where we
finally had a winning night. There is coffee and donuts in the poker room in the
morning and coffee and sandwiches at night.Marge, George, Dennis and I went to
the Seahouse in IP. Food was good, but not exceptional. They wouldn’t change
rice for a potato or make any other changes in the menu. With our gift
certificate we only had to add $2 to pay for dinner. Played some poker and then off to
see Legends in Concert with our 2 for 1 certificate. What a wonderful show-
Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen,Rod Stewart, Gloria Estafan, and of course
Elvis.
On Sunday we went to the Bellagio for the poker finals, but couldn’t get into
the room where the taping was taking place. But there were door prizes in the
room we were in and we won a poker game that hooks up to the tv, got a DVD on
poker from Mike Sexton, played in a fun tournament and got free hats, had
sodas, got autographs from Eric Linger and Antonio Esfandari ( got a picture too)
and saw quack quack. Came back to the IP and played poker and then went with
Marge and George to Harrah’s buffet for dinner-very good. Back for more
gambling(more losses).
Last day-boo hoo- packed our stuff, went to pool, then over to Bellagio for
another poker tournament-invitational. We sat in the first row for this one-saw
Doyle Brunson, Eric Linger,Barry Schulman, Lee Markholt. It was a lot of fun.
We were in seats that had a sign that said reserved for Barry Schulman, which
became attached to my behind when I took a break. Didn’t notice it until I
got back to my seat and Barry autographed it for me. I’m glad that won’t be on
tv!!!!! We had a late checkout thanks to Bob Cohen and returned home on the
red-eye.Didn’t win but had a fun trip.

Thanks, Steve & Eileen!

Hi Steve & Eileen:

Thank you so very much for your time and effort at the “members get-together”
in April. What a great group of people! You and Eileen were such gracious
hosts! I met a very nice lady from Long Island (Babylon?) and I can see your
meetings becoming something quite big in the future! It is obvious you love
this newsletter! Keep up the great work and let us know when your next planned
trip will be! Viva Las Vegas!

Trip Report

Trip report- I tried to make this as detailed as possible. Just hope it is
not too long..

Tuesday April 5th

Early morning flight “way too early!” Had to leave home at 4:15 am. We
arrived in Vegas at 8:33 am from Houston, bought a round trip Bell Trans shuttle
ticket. We will never do that again. See why later in this report. Went to the
Excalibur, where they could not have been nicer. We had VIP registration, so
the process took all of 5 minutes. However, because we arrived at such an early
hour our room was not ready. They told us to come back in a few hours. We put
our luggage on hold until a room was ready. we went to the Luxor for
breakfast. They have a scrumptious breakfast. As far as I am concerned, the Luxor has
the best breakfast on the strip. Came back at 10:30 and our luggage had been
brought to our room. The room faced the Luxor, so we had a pleasant view of the
pyramid and sphinx. We played the slots, roamed around the south end of the
strip. Then decided to go to the Rivera to see Splash, which was quite
entertaining. Especially if you like dancing to the 80’s music. The ice skaters were
incredible. A big thank you to Steve! We made the unfortunate choice of having
dinner at the Rivera buffet. The cold food was hot; the hot food was cold,
and none of the main dishes very appetizing. The prime rib was dry and
tasteless, the salad wilted, and sweets have seen better days and were stale. We ate
dinner at 6:30 pm, therefore, I expected the food to be fresh. After Splash, we
gambled at the Rivera and I actually won $35.00. We joined their slot club,
they give you $10.00 free & you can use any slot machine at the Rivera, not just
special slots that you never win on. In fact, this is how I won my $35.00.
Then we went to slots are fun. I won another $15.00 nothing big but at least not
a loss. Husband lost money. Went over to Circus Circus, just to see what was
going on. Took the metro bus back to the Excalibur. I love riding the bus;
you meet such nice people from all over the world. Gambled a little more, I
came out $23 ahead for night. Husband lost…

A little about the Excalibur. The staff was terrific. Everyone was extremely
helpful and cordial. As I said, our room faced the Luxor. There was a strange
phenomenon occurring, it was “moth” season. There were notes on the windows to
keep them closed. Well, if anyone has seen the pyramid, you know there is a
big spotlight on the top. There were millions of moths caught up in the light.
It was so out of the ordinary that the local TV news broadcasted the
occurrence. I took pictures, but all you can see is a huge white line going into the
sky. Our room was exceptionally clean, no dust, bed was comfy, and bathroom
immaculate. No bathtubs, but I take a shower anyway. It is true that the
hallways are dark, but that is all tied into the medieval theme. The one thing I do
appreciate is that there is a guard at each of the room entrances. You must
show your room card to get in. I was easy to remember, because I had my arm in a
cast, but the guards verified my card every time I went up to the room.

Wednesday April 6th – After breakfast at the Luxor, we decided to rent a car
and drive out to the Valley of Fire. The Valley of Fire State Park is located
in the Mojave Desert approximately 50 miles from LV. The park has amazing rock
formations that are 150 million years old. The red rock and sand are
beautiful. You follow the 15-mile sightseeing trail. There is a $6.00 park entrance
fee. Take your camera; some of the Valley is breathtaking. We took the long way
back approximately 75 miles riding along Lake Mead, although you couldn’t see
the lake most of the time, but the desert was beautiful. The desert flowers
were all in bloom. I have photos if anyone is interested. We went to Hoover
Dam, which is the largest reservoir in the U.S. The dam was not open; I did not
find it very picturesque. Went back to the strip for dinner at the Excalibur.
We enjoyed this dinner, the prime rib was perfect, shrimp pealed and ice cold,
and ribs were tender. The buffet had many choices. Lots of veggies for salad,
Mexican and Asian food also. The desserts were wonderful. I particularly
enjoyed the carrot cake and custard filled pastries. We went to see the Freemont
Street Experience downtown. It was o.k. Lots of noise and big crowds. We
played the slots at Binions, which is small, dreary and dark, and at the Golden
Nugget, which is huge and beautiful. Hint, if you drive to downtown, park in
Golden Nugget’s garage. Get your ticket validated, by the cashier cage and the
first 3 hours of parking is free. We both lost on the slots downtown. Went back
to the Excalibur. I won $20, husband lost again. We called it a night.

Thursday- April 7th Ate breakfast at the Excalibur. I would not recommend
having breakfast there. Eggs & waffles were cold. They did not have a buffet
with many choices. We are not accustomed to paying $10.00 each, [although it was
comped.] for cereal, coffee and fruit. Oh, and the morning coffee was
dreadful, very weak. The dinner coffee was strong, I guess they wanted to keep
everyone wide eyed and bushy tailed for gambling through he night. I learned how
to play craps. There is an 11:00 am class everyday. Confusing but fun. I took a
walk to Tickets 2night. The strip was very crowded Unfortunately, they did
not have any shows available that we wanted to see. Therefore, I walked down to
the Harley store, where there is another Tickets 4tonight. They had some
different shows, but I did not buy any tickets. I think I was too tired from our
excursion the day before. The weather was perfect. 68 at night to mid 70’s
during the day. Walked over to the Bellagio, roamed around the shops, although I
did not buy anything. My husband has a hard time walking long distances, so he
did not walk the strip with me. When I got back to the Excalibur, we strolled
over to N.Y, N.Y. Husband finally won. He bought some shirts at the Harley
shop, with the money he won. I bought a shirt at the NY experience shop. That
shop has cute stuff, reasonably priced. Every time we go to Vegas I buy
something there.

Friday April 8th – last day. Had breakfast at the Luxor, Yum! I played the
penny slots at Luxor & won $20.00 several times, playing 10 rows at a time. A 10
cent machine. I did not play the picture games; I played the bars and 7’s.
Husband really had horrible luck this trip. He lost again. At noon, I called
Bell Trans, on my cell phone, to make our reservations for 5:00 pm to the
airport. They had me on hold 32 minutes. When I mentioned it to the dispatcher, she
was rude. We checked out and put our luggage on hold, played the slots. I
actually came out $57.00 ahead. Husband lost his #*#*. Overall, we had a good
time. Our room and all meals within the Mandalay group were comped. The drinks at
all the hotels have improved, they now serve frozen drinks, Pina Colladas,
Margarita’s etc. but the wait time for drinks has not improved Unless you are
playing a table games.

Waited for Bell Trans from 4:15 – 5:00. No transportation. Gray Line came by
several times. Called Bell Trans and was put on hold again for 22 minutes this
time. When dispatcher finally took the call, she was nasty. Told me I must
have missed the bus! Then said I’ll send another but “you better be out there
this time!” I will never take Bell Trans again! When the shuttle bus came, I
mentioned this to the driver; he said he was never called to pick us up. And
right then and there reported the dispatcher to his supervisor for rudeness. At
the airport, I was thoroughly checked because of the cast on my arm, which I
did not mind because it is a safety issue. We took America West, which had a
stop in Phoenix. The first plane was small and uncomfortable, only 4 seats
across. The second roomy. However, when we landed we found out that they lost my
husbands luggage, but knew where it was. They were supposed to deliver the
luggage on Saturday morning. If you want to know the ordeal of getting his
luggage, e-mail me deemaxx95 at yahoo.com You won’t believe what happened. I have 3
typed pages of mishaps. His luggage was finally delivered at 11:47 pm on
Saturday.

We originally tried to take this trip starting on the 23rd. Sure wish we
could have, but our room was comped at that point for the first 2 days and that
week was blacked out. We would have loved to attend a members meeting. The more
the merrier. Besides we would have enjoyed meeting members that I probably
have writtento over the last few months. We will be going again this year; we
average 2 sometimes 3 trips a year. If possible, Steve let us know when you &
Eileen will be out there. We’d love to meet you both.

Maybe we will be able to coordinate our plans. Steve, I just love the
newsletter. The members are so great about sharing info, and there are so many
tid-bits to take into consideration. Thanks to all the members that contribute and
make this newsletter the best newsletter for Vegas info. Thanks Steve, for all
the hard work you do to keep the newsletter going.

Trip report

Trip Report for April 10th – 13th.

Arpril 10th.
The flight.
Northwest Flight 0711 actually arrived 30 minutes early just to wait 10
minutes for our gate to open. Chuck picks me up at the passenger pick
up and we head to the Klondike for a cheap breakfast.
All the BJ tables are full, so we head out to the Silverton. I have
heard good things about this place, but all the table limits were too
high for us low rollers. We head to the Lady Luck downtown where we
are staying. We unload my stuff and Chuck wants to go over to the Four
Queens for some Single Deck Black Jack. I lose $50 in a very short
time and I decide not to play anymore at this table. I walk around the
casino a bit and watch a table of Switch Black Jack. Not a game that
I would play. I head back to where Chuck is still playing and he wants
me to play some more, so he buys me $60 in chips. We play for awhile
and he loses and I hand him the remaining $50 of his chips. He loses
that and we head out of the 4 Queens back to the LL. We sit down at a
3 Card Poker Table. We both end up losing more money. I am down $100
my first four hours in Las Vegas. Off to bed.

April 11th.
I have a 2 for 1 coupon for Ellis Island and we head over there for the
$4.95 steak special. 2 very good steak dinners for $4.95. You can’t
beat this deal. Everything was good. I lose a $5 matchplay bet at
Blackjack. We head over to Sam’s Town. We walk around a bit and
decide to sit down at a 3 Card Poker table. This is a hand dealt game
which I like better than the machine dealt games. My second hand, I am
dealt a Straight flush with the dealer qualifying, so I am paid $200
for my Pair Plus bet, $25 for my Ante bet and $5 for my play bet.
This is my first straight flush in this game. My next hand, I am dealt
the 8, 9 and Jack of Diamonds for another flush. If I was a gambler, I
would have raised my bets after winning so much, but I don’t and the
very next hand, I am dealt another Straight Flush. Chuck can’t
believe it and some old guy sitting at first base gets really mad at
the dealer and she makes the comment “Like I have any control over
this”. Well, she is dealing the cards and not a machine. We play
about five more hands and I cash in for $500. Woo Hoo. We head over
to the LongHorn. A casino neither Chuck and I have ever been to
before. We sit down at a $3.00 Blackjack table and I am dealt 7
Blackjacks in less than 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I am up so I decide
to play two spots for $5 each and lose both hands two times in a row.
Enough BJ. I drop $10 in a 25 cent Wheel of Fortune machine and I cash
in for $12. We leave the Longhorn casino and I am up $2 more than I
when went in. We head over to Hofbrau House, to see what this place
is all about. Very expensive. $32 with tip for two beers and one
Sausage Sampler plate. Good, but not that good. Back to the Lady Luck
for a nap. At 10:30, Chuck wakes me up to go to Jerry’s Nugget in
North LasVegas for a dessert in there coffee shop. I have my 2 for 1
LVA coupon. If you have never tried one of their desserts, you must
the next time you are in Vegas. They are very good. I lose another $5
matchplay at Blackjack. Back downtown. Chuck and I sit down at a
Double Deck Blackjack table at the LL and I lose another $50. That’s
enough gambling for me.

April 12th.
We wake up and I want to head over to the Main Street Station for
there breakfast buffet. It’s about 10:20 and by the time I get the
coupon from the Players Club, the buffet is closed for breakfast and
will reopen at 11:00 for lunch. Chuck and I walk over to the new 1
cent Mega-Millions Slot Machines. 60 lines up to five cents a line.
Now, you would think that with 60 lines you would win something every
time. NOT TRUE! I lost $20 playing only one credit per line in less
than 5 minutes. What a waste of time and money. We still have 20
minutes to kill before the buffet opens for lunch, so we walk around
the casino and watch some craps. Chuck asks me a question about Video
Poker payouts and I walk around trying to find a machine that has a 9-6
payout. I couldn’t find one on any machine, but I did find a $10.00
voucher sticking out of a machine. I look around and no one is in
earshot, so I grab the slip and cash it in for $10.00. My only decent
win on a slot machine this whole trip. No money in and $10.00 out. My
kind of payoff! Chuck and I catch the CAT at the terminal and ride the
strip to Ceasars Palace to check out the Forum. I have already been,
but not Chuck. We walk through the mall and head over to casino.
Nothing too exciting going on and so we head over to the Imperial
Palace to play some Black Jack. $50 gone just like that. I don’t know
what it is with this trip, but the BJ is just not working for me or
Chuck. I head over to a $1 Wheel of Fortune machine because I had a
dream the night before my trip that I was going to win big. I slip my
card I get a card error. I try again. Not good. I probably missed my
chance with the Random Number Generator as I walk to the players club
to get a new card. Back to the machine and nothing. Stupid cards.
Chuck and I leave and head over to the Casino Royale we watch a few
table games and head over to the Venetian. Next were off to Slots of
Fun for a Hot Dog and a free Deck of Cards. Back downtown, I take a
short nap and then we head over to the Plaza for dinner at Mannetis.
Only 1 server and 1 server assistant. Very slow service. If it
weren’t for the 2 for 1 LVA coupon, I think we would have walked out.
We both had the Veal Parmigian and it was very good. Dinner with one
glass of wine and tip came to $35.00. Very good food, but very slow
service. After dinner, we stroll through a couple of the casinos and
then watch one of the Fremont Street Experience Shows. Back to the
LL. No more gambling for me. I have $200 more than I came with and I
am going home that way. I told you, I’m not a gamber.

April 13th.
Time to check out and head to the airport. First we have a comped
breakfast at the Lady Luck. Very good. The Lady Luck always treats us
well. The airport is very busy. I still arrive in plenty of time
even with the long security lines.

For my 20th trip to Vegas it was a good one. I am ready to go back.

Re: [Everythinglasvegas] Everything Las Vegas: Issue # 502

Hi Steve and Eileen,
First, let me say how much I enjoy reading your newsletters. As a three
time visitor a year to Vegas and as a twice a year attendee to the Imperial
Palace’s slot tournaments for the past 16 years I was very dissappointed to
receive a post card advertising the June tournament and the change of venue.
It seems they have eliminated the welcome cocktail party on Sunday night,
brunch and dinner on Monday and brunch on Tues. Instead we can get coffee
and danish from 7-9A.M. and $100 per entry for food at their restaurants. I
personally, do not want to get up for coffee and danish at that hour and I
can’t imagine how they will accomodate 350 people in their small
restaurants. And to top it off, they raised the entry fee. If I, and my
friends had known this prior to enrolling in the tournament (which you have
to do3 months in advance), we certainly would have had second thoughts. How
sad that the best slot tournaments in town are no longer anything special !
I hope to be able to meet you some day in Vegas, but it won’t be at the
I.P.

Re: [Everythinglasvegas] Everything Las Vegas: Issue # 502

We too just returned home from Vegas. For the first time, we went as a
family. It was difficult to try to gamble when you have kids with you (
one adult has to stay in the room with them) We did have a good time. I
do want to warn your followers about Lady Luck downtown. We chose to stay
there this time, due to the fact we had a good deal with taking our kids
(age 19 and 14) We stayed at Lady Luck four years a go, and we were happy
with the trip. Cost for this trip, was a concern. We wanted to get the
most out of this trip for the buck. It is different when paying for four
people instead of two.

Lady Luck has gone down hill. Our plane arrived in Las Vegas at 9 am. I
knew we couldn’t check into our hotel till 2 pm. I was fine with this.
We figured it would be 10 or so by the time we left the airport and got to
the hotel. We planned we would leave our baggage at the bell desk and get
something to eat. Byt the time we could get back to the hotel….it would
be time to check in. Boy was I wrong. When we got back to the hotel, the
check in time had changed to 3 pm. Well, being tired we said we would go
and sit for a while. Well 3 o’clock came and went….still our room was
not ready. Finaaly at 4 pm we were able to check in. By the time we got
upstairs….we had to waite in the hall while they cleaned the room. (
there was no excuse for this in my book)

The room was filthy… rug had stains and was just so dirty we did not
want to walk on it without something on our feet. The wall paper was
peeling off the wall, and the sink in the bathroom was plugged. I was
ticked to say the least. We were comped with buffet breakfast for the
entire stay. This helped, but I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. I
know sometimes you get what you pay for…but when the rooms were reserved
and paid for weeks in advance…I feel there is no excuse.

  1. Steve,

My wife and I will be in Vegas October 3-8th for our usual slot tournament at the Riv. We were planning on going to see Larry G. Jones on this trip. Where will he be appearing at that time. Currently, I see that he is at the Plaza but I also read that he will be going back to Fitzgeralds. What’s the story? Thanks.
