I AM GOING TO LAS VEGAS FOR A WEEK IN JULY AND  WANT TO STAY WHERE THERE ARE

LOT OF POKER GAME CHOICES AND LIMITS. I KNOW BELLAGIO HAS LOTS OF GAMES AND

LIMITS, BUT I’D  LIKE TO STAY AT A LESS  EXPENSIVE PLACE.

OMAHA AND OMAHA/8 ARE MY FAVORITES. IF ANY OF THE READERS CAN ADVISE ME I’D

BE GRATEFUL. REPLY   GIBBSWANI at AOL.COM

I know that several of the casinos offer a slot club sign up bonus for free

play.  I know that Sahara offers $10, I heard that the Riviera and the Golden

Nugget did also.  Are they still doing it?   Is the Westin Causeria still

having the match money sign up bonus play?  Does anyone know of any other casinos

that offer this free play? I also heard that there is a web-site that allows

you to purchase half priced tickets to We Will Rock You.  Has anyone done this?

If so what was the name of the website.

lhood at iastate.edu

A member’s report said they got 2for1 tickets for WE WILL ROCK YOU…how do

you get them?  Also would Tickets4Tonight have them at around half price. Is

there a T4T location in front of the Fahion Mall? We’ll be staying at HARRAHS

(is Mardi Gras tower better than Carnival and away from noise?..would appreciate

any other comments/suggestions) VIDEO POKER-looking for full pay and same day

cashback on/near or off strip. Thanks for all the hints that you and your

Poker champion details heist attempt at Bellagio.

One of the nation’s best poker players told in court Friday how he fended off

two robbers trying to steal his $150,000 in gambling chips during an

ill-advised attack at Bellagio last year.

Greg “Fossilman” Raymer said he was returning to his hotel room at the Strip

resort on Dec. 20 at 2 a.m. with $150,000 in chips in a duffle bag when

authorities allege Kevin R. Joy, 35, and Deem Cassim, 31, tried to jump him and

force him into his room.

“I knew it was a bad idea to let two criminals shove you into the room,”

Raymer said. “I’m in fear for my safety, my life, my money, everything.”

Yet another treat for the megarich.

The city that offers $1,000 shots of ancient scotch (Prime Steak House) and a

martini with a gold-and-diamond-encrusted olive pick (Hard Rock Hotel) has

something new for the filthy rich.

Amp Salon at the Palms is offering what might be the world’s most expensive

pedicure.

For $2,000, that special client can rent out the salon for the after-hours

VIP treatment.

A lingerie-clad technician will provide the pedicure, and a bottle of Cristal

champagne will be served by candlelight. Women have the option of a male

dancer.

The price for two people jumps to $3,000 but includes appetizers from N9NE

Steak House, plus VIP treatment and access to Rain and Ghostbar.

GAMBLING: A penny for your slots.

1-cent-wager machines in Nevada generate $73.7 million in revenue in March.

(By: Howard Stutz)

More and more, slot players are putting in their 2 cents, or more.

Once relegated to gambling-equipment museums, the penny is back with a

vengeance, and slot machine floors — from those in the smallest casinos to those in

billion-dollar Strip resorts — are making space for them.

“Pennies are the rage, and they’re growing,” said Jefferies & Co. gaming

analyst Aimee Marcel, who follows the industry’s primary equipment manufacturers

and suppliers. “Most of the regional gaming markets are full of penny games. In

Kansas City, (Mo.), for example, about 45 percent of the games are

penny-based. The casinos on the Las Vegas Strip were the last places to convert to

pennies, and they’re starting to catch on.”

Employees at Caesars, Bally’s upbeat about merger with Harrah’s.

After almost 30 years of parking cars and handling luggage for customers at

Caesars Palace, Gary Bruno has seen a fair share of ownership changes. He

compared the Strip’s resort’s latest turnover to meeting his in-laws for the first

time.

“It’s like two big families meeting together,” said Bruno, who has worked the

main valet parking area at Caesars Palace since the 1970s. “You’re looking

forward to it, but you’re a little apprehensive because you want to do

everything right. We’re all a little apprehensive, but we’re not really afraid.”

Harrah’s Entertainment picked up Caesars Palace as part of its $9 billion

buyout of Caesars Entertainment Monday, marking the sixth ownership change Bruno

and other long-standing Caesars Palace employees have experienced in the past

two decades.

Bally’s could be imploded, rebuilt

Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. is contemplating a major renovation of its

Bally’s resort on the Strip that might involve imploding it and building a

Horseshoe-brand hotel, the company’s top executive said Monday.

Harrah’s Chief Executive Gary Loveman, whose company assumed control of

Caesars Entertainment Inc. Monday afternoon, said that’s just one of several

options available. Sections of the property might also be rebuilt over time, he

said. Bally’s will likely be renamed because it lacks a compelling brand identity,

he added.

“We consider that corner one of the great locations in the city and we think

there’s probably something better that could be done there,” Loveman said.

“We’re in the process of figuring out what that ought to be.”

Leaving an imprint

This one has eBay written all over it: Michael Jackson’s handprints and

footprints on a 280-pound concrete slab can be had for the price of a ticket during

the Riviera’s summer-long giveaway of celebrity imprints.

The imprint giveaway, part of the Riviera’s 50th anniversary celebration,

starts next month with the foursome of Barbara Mandrell, Carol Lawrence, Jim

Nabors and Larry Holmes.

In August, the names of Natalie Cole, Jeff Barnes, Jermaine Jackson and Rip

Taylor go in the hopper.

The September schedule will include: Vikki Carr, Marlon Jackson, Mickey

Gilley and Reggie Kinlaw. October’s lineup: Randy Jackson, Peter Noone, Robert

Newhouse and Anthony Newley.

Michael Jackson’s imprints are among the November batch, along with Phyllis

Diller, Jim Stafford and Tom Smothers. The giveaway wraps up in December with

Sugar Ray Leonard, Quincy Jones, Tito Jackson, Andy Gibb and Steve Rossi.

“Splash” Update

The cast of “Splash” has been rehearsing its new version each night after

performing the old one. The changeover failed to meet its May 31 target date. On

Sunday, things came to a boiling point between director Jeff Kutash and an

associate of the show’s owner. But cooler heads prevailed, and the new

incarnation debuted to paying customers.

“Splash” is still hoping to mark its “official” return on June 21, which is

20 years to the night after it opened at the Riviera. The show is subject to

revision between now and then. Kutash created the original show, but had been

away from it for several years. Former Riviera owner Meshulam Riklis now owns

the show and will have a say in the final product, which follows a Las Vegas

history theme, when he returns from overseas business.

The Riviera show plans to be back to its old schedule of two shows per night

by Tuesday. That’s likely to beat “Le Reve,” the Wynn Las Vegas spectacle that

still hasn’t announced when it will make the jump to two shows per night.

Sexy Secret

Sex sells, so I’m going to start this column with a sexy item from Victoria’s

Secret. The store we love to shop at will be presenting The Victoria’s Secret

Fashion Show Exhibit: Ten Years of Sexy, tomorrow, June 9 at 10:30 a.m. at

its store in the Forum Shops at Caesars. Victoria’s Secret Supermodel Gisele

Bundchen will be on hand to unveil the exhibition.

Don’t panic when you see the date, as I just found out about it the other

day, because the exhibit will run through July 9, plenty of time for you to see

it. It is the first-ever opportunity to get up close and personal with the sexy

looks and unique story behind the evolution of the world-famous brand and

fashion show.

The exhibition, featuring a compilation of looks beginning with the first

show in 1995, will include 35 ensembles worn on the runway by some of the sexiest

supermodels in the world — Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Tyra Banks,

Daniela Pestova, Gisele Bundchen, Molly Sims, and Heidi Klum.

The looks are organized into three themes: Femme Fatale & Fantasy, Goddess,

and Innocence & Experience, designed to express the range of emotion that

lingerie evokes. Included in the exhibition will be such ornate and iconic pieces

as a replica of the jewel-encrusted Fantasy Bra worn by Tyra in 1999 and the

famous 12-foot wings worn by Heidi Klum in the 2003 show. I have a feeling there

will be as many men as women taking in this exhibition. It will be displayed

at the Reflection Pool at the Las Vegas Boulevard entrance to the Forum Shops.

FREE CD FOR DAD

Here’s a little treat for Dad on Father’s Day, which, by the way, for all you

forgetful offspring, is June 19. Larry G. Jones - The Man of 1002 Voices is

thanking all the dads that come to his Father’s Day show with a free CD. Can’t

beat that. If you’re really cheap, go yourself, get the CD, wrap it up and

give it to Dad as his present. He’ll “Ooohh” and “Aaahh” and thank God you didn’t

buy him some hideous tie again.

Larry performs nightly (except Fridays) at 6 p.m. in The Plaza’s Comedy Zone

showroom, is 6 p.m. If you haven’t seen him, he is a singer/impressionist with

a great voice and does more than 70 impressions. Plus he’s a really good guy

as I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing him several times over the past few

years.

Exotic cars speeding out of Wynn showroom.

Some of the richest merchandise in Las Vegas has changed hands in recent days

at the Ferrari and Maserati showroom at Wynn Las Vegas, which beckons

passers-by with luxury cars displayed like fine art.

Believed to be the first dealership in a casino, the Ferrari-Maserati

showroom — which opened at the resort April 28 — has already sold 21 of the

Italian-made cars. That’s the kind of business exotic car stores typically generate

over a few months, dealership General Manager George Chapes said.

“Those numbers in themselves are absolutely staggering,” Chapes said. “We own

two other Ferrari stores and in the last five days we’ve sold what those

dealerships do in three to four months.”

At this rate, Chapes said he could probably sell 100 of the cars each year.

In reality, he said the store will probably sell closer to 40 or 50 cars

because it would be difficult for the dealership to get more cars from Ferrari,

which manufactures a limited number of the coveted vehicles.
