Everything Las Vegas: Members Corner Edition: Part Two
Trip Report
Sunday, 4:30 – It’s finally here! The day we get to leave for Las Vegas! Everything is packed, the car is loaded, we have our tickets, id’s, money, cards, my favorite book – I think we are ready. I just have to tell my 17 year old daughter that we are leaving (like she is really going to wake up this early) and give the dog a pat on the head.
We departed Columbus at 8:45. The new security measures seem to be working wonderful – lines moved very quickly. We even saw a couple we know boarding the same plane. They were as excited as we were. They wanted to know where we were staying (Harrahs) and they told us they got a great deal at Circus Circus. They had stayed there 20 years ago when they started going to Vegas and wanted to stay there again. (I kept my thought to myself – boy are they going to be disappointed!)
I’m so disappointed the in-flight movie was a football movie – okay I realize
it was Superbowl Sunday – but really how about a break! For some reason – I
decided to do what I never do on the plane – I slept. You can always look
around an airplane – and read people so easily. The nervous, anxious and then
you have those that don’t really seem to mind the flight. I fall under that
category – my husband falls under the nervous category. I have been giving him
a hard time about how he just sits there on the plane – doesn’t read, doesn’t
watch the movies, doesn’t sleep – just sits there. Then he turns the tables
on me with – well you sit there and read.
11:00 Vegas time – we are in McCarran airport! Yippee! Okay – wait a
minute – why are no coins falling out of the slot machines – coinless machines at
the airport. All pays are paid by the attendants. And, no – I’m not playing
them – yet! Off to baggage claims. I love this airport. Maybe I will be
like Tom Hanks and live in the airport – but it has to Las Vegas!!
We have our luggage and we are off to the cab stand. Getting a cab is like
going to a pot luck dinner – you just never know what you are going to get! We
try making small talk with our cab driver (always try doing this). We ask do
you gamble? His reply – “no”. “Not anymore, I lost everything, including my
wife.” (Yikes!) And, have you ever noticed the trailer park on the right
hand side as you are traveling to the strip? Wow – reality check, not
everything in Las Vegas is new, glitzy and glamorous – it is a real town with real
people.
Upon arrival at Harrahs, our “upgraded” room will not be ready for about an
hour. Not good, we checked our luggage. Except silly me – has the bag with
everything that I still have to carry (never know when you are going to need –
Certs, gum, digital camera, book (a must read for all Las Vegas lovers, “Whale
Hunt in the Desert: The Secret Las Vegas of Casino Superhost Steve Cyr”, a bag
of Brownie Bites and my cell phone! We are suppose to be downtown at the
Golden Nugget for a superbowl party with some friends. We don’t want to leave
until we get settled. We call our friends – they don’t have enough tickets for
the party – so we decide to stay at Harrahs. About 2 hours later – our room
is finally ready. If that isn’t enough to try your patience.
We go upstairs to our “upgraded” room in Carnival Court. If this was an
“upgraded” room I have to wonder what the regular rooms are like. We had a
wonderful view of – the parking lot. Why insult us by telling us the room is
upgraded. We have stayed there for 10 years – same rooms – just different views.
But hey – maybe the safe in our room is a sign of good fortunes coming our
way!
We decide to go back downstairs. The casino industry is evolving and
constantly changing. As you look around Harrahs casino floor – you are overwhelmed
with nickel and penny slots. We enjoy video slots – but prefer quarters.
There isn’t a wide variety of games. Many of the old favorites are now gone as
well (Reel’em In, Money to Burn, Cash Crop, Boom). A majority of the video
games are now 15 lines, 25 lines – boy what happened to 5 line and 9 line? I am
beginning to realize why my bankroll doesn’t last as long as it did in the
past. We decide to venture across the street to the Mirage.
As we are going into the Mirage via the walkway – there are two young men in
front of us. One of them is on his cell phone. He tells whomever is on the
other line “I have to win on the game” “if I don’t, I won’t have any money to
pay my rent”. Good grief – I hope he was kidding! The Mirage is just
fabulous! It is open, clean, busy – a great atmosphere. Finally about 6:30 we decide
that we should probably get something to eat. We tried Carnegie’s New York
Deli. I don’t remember reading that it had opened in the Mirage. Complete
kaos! We decide to share a Woody Allen special. (not really into the sharing
thing – until we saw the portion sizes). The Woody Allen is a pastrami and corn
beef sandwich. Fantastic! There was even part of the sandwich left!
Carnegies is across from the Sports Book at the Mirage – so Jerry did get to see
some of the Superbowl. (By the way – who actually played in the Superbowl?) We
go back to the casino floor for more action.
Finally around 11:00 we head back to Harrahs. The Mirage was brutal to us.
There are people everywhere – this has been the busiest we have seen Las Vegas
in years! I am sitting at a slot machine that isn’t far from the ATM’s and
we hear a guy say to his friend “I have $4.00 in my account” and he started
laughing! We started playing a Tabasco slot machine near the table games. We
did very well – we had a hit for 6,200 quarters during the bonus round. I think
that may have brought us back to even for the day. (sad!) About 1:00 we
call it a night.
Day 2
Breakfast buffet at Harrahs. Thought I was going to be stressed – I couldn’t
locate the oatmeal. Finally the grill cook – showed me where it was moved
to. Buffet was typical.
We decided to walk down the strip today. I wanted to go to the Bellagio.
They have an excellent selection of slot games. The casino isn’t busy at all.
I find an old favorite game – which we play for probably 2 ½ hours (Money to
Burn). We actually made $300. We walk through Caesars on the way back. We
stay in there for probably 3 hours. They have done a lot of remodeling – I’m
still not sold on it. We make another $200 and decide to move on. I stop at
the Cheesecake Factory for a piece of cheesecake to go. We are off to the
Treasure Island. The machines were not so cooperative in Treasure Island – we left
after an hour of straight losses. We decide to go back to the Mirage. We
play for a few hours and decide to go get ready for dinner – we had reservations
at Kokomos.
Kokomo’s was fabulous as always! Mimi, one of the slot hosts at the Mirage
had made arrangements for us to have dinner there. We had a table with a
wonderful view. A tropical paradise. We both had Blackened Kansas City steaks
w/spicy shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes, green salads, shrimp cocktail – you won’t
find a dinner much better then this.
We left Kokomo’s and decided to play for a few hours at the Mirage. There
are still alot of people here. I really thought the crowd would disperse today –
but it hasn’t. We decide to call it a night – back to that “upgraded” roo
m. Surprisingly – the view still is – the parking lot!
Day 3
If you are on EST – you really get up early – like we do! Breakfast at
Harrahs. Yes, oatmeal – again. There is a slot tournament going on. Exciting to
watch! Probably much more fun to participate! I tell Jerry I want to see a
little of the Vegas of yesterday. We leave Harrahs and walk towards the
Circus Circus! Walking down the strip is always fun! You never know what you are
going to see. We stroll by the Star Dust, went in the Westward Ho – scary!
Circus Circus – should be imploded. I didn’t want to touch anything. There is
a difference between being old and being dirty. It was just plain dirty! I
couldn’t leave there fast enough! I remember as a little girl – that was the
only casino that children were permitted to be in. So – I had fond memories
of the Circus Circus. Sometimes you should leave the past – in the past!
We walked by the Wynn. Stunning! I can’t wait till it opens. The property
is just fabulous – it seems hard to believe that each casino can have so much
personality. We walked through the Venetian – another fabulous property. We
strolled through the stores. I’m even taking pictures today!
Next we are off to the Fashion Mall! Jerry is less than thrilled – but goes
along. The mall is 2 stories and has over 200 stores. A true shoppers
paradise. My favorite store by far – Brighton’s! I spend about 1/20 of the time
that I would like to spend in the mall – but so little time – so much to do.
And, there is shopping in Ohio – but not gambling! (another story)
We needed to go to Margaretiville – I needed to purchase souvenirs for my
daughter and her boyfriend. This is such a fun store! Who doesn’t love Jimmy
Buffet? Mission accomplished. Next I tell Jerry – I have a feeling. Let’s go
in to the Flamingo – I think this is where I am going to hit “the big one”.
(does everyone else have this hope too?) We go in – and I walk around trying
to find <I style=”mso-bidi-font-style: normal”>the machine that will change our
life forever. I found it. Okay – so it’s a nickel <I
style=”mso-bidi-font-style: normal”>I Love Lucy. But, the progressive is very high. People really
do win – I say to myself. I know this because I see the pictures every month
in my <I style=”mso-bidi-font-style: normal”>Casino Player and <I
style=”mso-bidi-font-style: normal”>Strictly Slots magazines. I’m still convincing myself
– can you see it? I try putting a $20 bill in the machine – it won’t take
it. So, I play the one right beside it. Well – $100 later (which by the way –
we didn’t have a hit that won more than 60 nickels) – and less than 5 minutes
– we decided this must have been the wrong machine. (it was the one that
wouldn’t take my first $20!)
We needed to get back to Harrahs. We were going downtown to the Golden
Nugget. We were going to meet <I style=”mso-bidi-font-style: normal”>THE CASINO
HOST of Las Vegas. This was the highlight of my trip and what I have been
looking forward to it! We hop in a cab and ask the cab driver to take us
downtown. Our cab driver was very friendly and gave us lots of information about Las
Vegas. Cab drivers can be the ambassadors of Vegas. However, he must have
received 10 calls on his cell phone on our trip downtown. We were busy taking in
the sights anyway.
Downtown Las Vegas is a true step back in time. Jerry and I walked down
Fremont Street. This is a must on any trip to Las Vegas! The restoration is
evident. It was very clean – I just wanted to turn around in circles in the
middle of the street! We walked into a few of the other casinos. In the Four
Queens we decided to play for a while. Okay – 2 hours later we are still there
playing the same machine. But – we were up $500! This was on a nickel machine –
which we told ourselves we were going to refuse to play on the entire trip!
I guess letting our guard down for 2 hours turned out okay. The only
complaint about the casinos downtown – the service wasn’t as prompt – and we didn’t
see a cocktail waitress – we would hear one – but never actually saw one – do
you suppose they just had it on speaker – “cocktails”?
We went back to the Golden Nugget. We did meet the Casino Host of Las
Vegas. This man was amazing. He actually took the time to meet us, told us a few
stories, shared some insight about how the book came about. When this book
comes out as a movie – it will be great!!! I’m still trying to figure out who
will play his character. He has this charismatic personality – a real people
person. People who have this characteristic have unlimited potential – and it
great to see someone that has passion about what they are doing. Definitely –
my trip highlight.
We were on such a rush from our meeting – that we left the Golden Nugget and
hoped in a cab back to the strip. New cab driver – must have forgotten to
take his anti-depressants! We asked how his evening was, are you originally from
Vegas, do you like to gamble, maybe we talk too much. His response – “I feel
sorry for those people who sit in front of slot machines all day” – this
would have been in slow motion too! Okay then, aren’t we all uncomfortable now.
I ask him to please drop us off at the Palms. (it was the longest ride ever
from downtown for a lot of reasons!)
The Palms is fantastic! I’m still carrying my book – it is my new prized
possession. This isn’t your typical casino. It is very chic and modern.
Instead of the usual bright busy carpet – there are hardwood floors! Jerry signs up
for a players club card, I order us some drinks and we find a machine to
play. There are plenty of quarter video slots here! We stayed for probably 3
hours – again same machine. But, it was close to the bar, restrooms, and
cashiers stand. The Palms is definitely a casino geared to yuppies. I can see
spending a lot of time here on future trips. It is getting late so we had back to
Harrahs.
Okay – we have missed lunch and really missed dinner. So we decide to walk
over to the Mirage and get dinner at California Pizza. There are how many types
of pizza on their menu and we get pepperoni, mushroom and sausage. We also
had a caesar salad to go along with the pizza. Excellent choice. We both are
tired but force ourselves to play slots for a few more hours.
We are back in our room for the evening. Jerry has tried contacting our
casino host at Harrahs since we arrived – and has been unsuccessful. One would
think he would maybe contact us.
Day 4
Well this is our last full day in Las Vegas. Maybe today is the day we will
win big. We have our normal breakfast at Harrahs buffet. As we are having
breakfast we realize that this may be the last time at Harrahs. We have been
disappointed overall with Harrahs. We had previously said that we would
continue staying at Harrahs, until we had a reason not to. We decided it is time for
a change.
Well, we decide to try walking down the other end of the strip today. We set
off walking. The bright sun feels good even though the air is still cool.
We go past the Flamingo – and I glance in at the <I style=”mso-bidi-font-style:
normal”>I Love Lucy machines. Darn it! We keep walking. I go into the Coca
Cola store, M&M store. We go into the Aladdin and go thru the Desert Passage
shops. This is so relaxing. If you catch it at the right time – you will
smell chocolate chip cookies from the Nestle store. Yum! The stores are
endless! There is another Brighton’s!! We probably stayed in there for a few
hours. We walked across to New York New York.
We decide to have lunch at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez. We both order the Burrito
dinners. Great Mexican food – that is another one of our favorite haunts! We
walk around New York New York. This casino is so dense – that it is
uncomfortable. There are people everywhere! We decide to head back down the strip.
Night has fallen and we are greeted by the lights! Stunning! I was very busy
taking lots of pictures.
We walked back across to MGM and decided to go in. They are doing some
renovations. I walk past the lion habitat and watch for awhile. (too many kaluhas
and not enough sleep). We move on. Walking down the strip at night is
something that everyone should do. We browse through the Hawaiian marketplace.
I’m not thinking this is really going to work out how they had anticipated. We
decide to by-pass Ballys – maybe next time. We make it down to the Mirage and
go in for one last session before we leave.
I wanted to see the Volcano and take some pictures. Normally we have a view
of this from our room – put instead we can see headlights. We stand in front
of Casino Royale and I take some pictures (which by the way did not turn out –
it’s like taking pictures on It’s a Small World in Disney World – looks great
while you are there and the pictures are terrible!). Back to Harrahs. I
need to go into the gift shop and use our comps. I get souvenirs for my parents,
a couple of coffee cups for our house, a couple of sweatshirts – and still
didn’t use all the comps. We play for awhile and decide to go back to the room
and pack. It’s going to be a long day on the plane – and back to reality!
Surprise – there is chocolate in our room. We usually have a plate of cookies –
I guess chocolate is better than nothing.
Day 5
Leaving Las Vegas – but we will be back! Our flight is scheduled to leave at
10:00 – we are going back to Columbus through Phoenix. I purchase a couple
of newspapers for the ride back. Jerry and I grab a Cinnabon. We check in,
get our tickets, I get pulled by security – my jacket’s buttons have set-off
alarms, I get “wanded”, but that is okay – we want everyone to be safe, and wait
to board the plane.
And, we will have to tell all that ask us “we broke even” – even though we
didn’t. Non-gamblers just don’t understand! And, I’m sure we will hear – did
you see any shows? Well, no we were there to gamble. Seriously, I would have
loved to see the Elton John show – the reviews have been great. Maybe next
trip.
Already the plans are forming in my mind for our next trip. If you can’t
wait until that next trip to Sin City – purchase “A Whale Hunt in the Desert”
from Amazon. If you are like me – you will be watching the travel channel for
shows on Las Vegas, watching the series Las Vegas, and getting your e-mails
about Las Vegas. Rumor has it there will be an upcoming Montel show about
gambling, featuring none other than my favorite Las Vegas Casino SuperHost!

RE: [Everythinglasvegas] Everything Las Vegas: Members Corner
Just thought I would share a fun thing my father and I did on our last trip
to Vegas.
We decided that each mourning on the way to breakfast we would each place a
$10 bet at Roulette on black.
We had previously agreed that we would let it ride for three spins.
Total of $20 bet one win would equal $40
after two spins we would have $80
and after the third spin we would have $160.
The first mourning we won on the first spin and lost on the second. after
that we couldn’t lose.
On our second day we won all three spins and walked away with our $160.
on day three we did the same thing and now we had two $160 dollar wins and a
$20 loss. we got brave on day four it being our
last day and decided to let it ride 6 times, and even if we lost we would
still be way up. As we place our bets we decided to each make it a twenty this
time rather then $10.
First spin… Black now our forty dollars is $80
Second spin… Black now we have $160
Third spin… Black now we have $320
Forth spin … Black now we have $620
Fifth Spin … Black and now we have $1240
Dad and I are super nervous at this point as we never bet this kind of money
and I look over and my father is literary shaking. as the dealer released the
ball my Dad freaks out and grabs our chips. The dealer looks at us like we are
crazy as
we had already told him of our 6 spin agreement. Guess where the ball
lands…. Yep on Black so we didn’t get our $2480 but had to split the $1240. For
good measure we stood to watch the next spin and it to was black then black again
it ended with 11 blacks. As we stood there trying to do the math the dealer
was laughing at us and when I asked him why he said “why would you want to know
how much money that would be you guys couldn’t handle 12 hundred on the table
you would of had a heart attic. plus you would have reached the table max on
the outside bets ($5000) on the 7th spin.
Well we did win and I guess someday I will forgive the old man.
by the way the win would have been $79,840 if we would have went 11 spins and
then walked away.

Trip Report
Hi Steve, I just read your latest members corner and thought I would send in
a trip report. My wife and I decided to break up the winter here in Chicago
and send a week in Vegas. After we booked our room & flight arrangements I
discovered we were arriving the morning of the superbowl. We have been in Vegas
before during holidays like New Years, so I knew what to expect. We arrived
around 10am and check in was no problem. We were staying at the Bellagio and
decided to stay in one of the new spa tower rooms. The rooms are just like the
other rooms good news is if you intend to spend a lot of time by the pool the
elevator has a stop directly to the pool, bad news is it’s a long walk to the
casino. We arrived in time for me to make my superbowl bets, plenty of goofy
proposition bets if one is so inclined. All the table games had their limits
way up so we played some slots and video poker. Had dinner at the Prime,
wonderful as usual, after dinner went to pick up my winnings from the superbowl
bets, I hit with a three team Pats on the money line, Eagles with the points,
and the under, nice start.
On Monday things were pretty much back to normal with the table limits so we
played some blackjack and Carib. poker. They began rearranging the poker room
at the Bellagio and the whole section was cordoned off as they redo the poker
room, supposed to be done in about 4 weeks. We were at the MGM and noticed
they had redone Emerils so we decided to eat there. Excellent meal and my wife
said they made the best apple martinis, she should know she’s the expert. I
was winning on my sports bets, now basketball and putting it all back via the
slots & blackjack tables.
On Tuesday we had tickets for the Elton John show and decided to eat at Bobby
Flays new restaurant. Another excellent meal especially if you like you food
a bit on the spicy side. The Elton John show was great, we had been in that
theater before to see Celine and it is an excellent theater with good views of
the stage no matter where you sit.
Wednesday, still winning on the sport but losing on everything else. We
stopped in at the Monte Carlo and I just happened on a crap table that was busy.
It always is interesting when you see three tables open and everyone is
huddled around one. Anyway, it was one of those tables were someone would make a
point and then seven out this went on for about 5-6 rollers. Then it was my
turn with the dice. There was an older lady next to me who was down to her last
$50. I noticed the guy at the far end of the table was betting the don’t pass
line, so I told the woman “come on let’s break that guy” Sure enough I hit 6
points and then after a seven out she took the dice a proceeded to hit another
8 points. Needless to say the don’t pass guy was long gone by the time she
passed the dice. This tidy sum would allow me to play $25 blackjack later that
night. We noticed that they had a lunch special at the Commander’s palace
with 25 cents martinis – limit 4. Wow how can you beat that. So off we went
for lunch, great lunch and even better martini’s, had a buzz the rest of the
afternoon. Wednesday night we decided to see the George Wallace show at the
Flamingo, funny show, and while we were waiting to go in my wife sat down at a
slot machine put in $20. She was getting absolutely nothing and as she was
complaining and spinning for the last time she hit triple 7’s for a $400 payout.
Thursday and we decided to have our last night’s meal at Bradley Ogden’s.
Nice place and atmosphere but I think I enjoy Bobby Flays better. Still doing
OK with the sports bets and managed a meager win at the blackjack table, so for
the trip we are only slightly down. The weather was really nice for us
coming from Chicago, sunny and low – mid sixties during the day. We had a car and
checked out the Palms and the Green Valley Ranch. Won a bit a the Palms, put
it back at Green Valley.
Friday, time to leave, its raining but not very hard. However I guess even a
little rain causes problems here. Driving to the airport the intersections
along the strip have about 6 – 8 inches of water, and its only been raining for
about an hour, amazing! We get to the airport and find out all the flights
are running late due to the rain, still on a heavy drizzle by Chicago
standards. Finally take off about 2 hours late and make it home without any further
problems. Another great Vegas trip. Already planning on the next one. It
seems they are featuring more and more Vegas shows on the television and this
really gets us in the mood to go back. Next trip now scheduled for the first week
of May. It looks like we are going to miss you and Eileen again Steve, well
sooner or later we will have our trips in sinc. Hope you and Eileen have a
great time and I’ll look forward to your trip report. Keep up the great
newsletters.
Trip Report
Hi, Steve.
Thanks for all your newsletters and information. It really helps
on our trips. We want to thank everyone who gave suggestions for
the sports books for March Madness. We had a fairly large group
go, so we were able to split up and try almost every sports book
that was recommended. We saw a lot of places that we enjoyed,
but overall LV Hilton and Mandalay Bay were voted the best in our
group. Thanks again to all the readers who gave suggestions.
For table games we spent most of our time at Slots-a-Fun. Low
table limits made it that much better. The dealers were also
helpful if you had questions or just learning. They were great at
the craps tables for beginners like me who had questions, as well
as very understanding. Most of our group had never played, but by
the time our trip ended we knew which table game we enjoyed most.
Again, thanks for all the input. We enjoy all the tips and tidbits.
Have a great trip in April!

Trip Report
We stayed at the Bellagio from 03/27-03/30/05, this being about our 20th
trip. We try a different hotel each time. This time we tried to use a lot of
tips from the newsletter and have the following report. Bellagio hotel is
terrific. Paid a little extra for lakeview room that was well worth it for the
fountain shows each night. Fontana Lounge at Bellagio is a great place to cap the
night with quality entertainment. We went lounging the first night to
Peppermill’s, the Casbar at the Sahara, and Dueling Pianos at Harrahs. Peppermills
is nice, Casbar is not a good destination lounge, but the Dueling Pianos at
Harrah’s was a highlight lounge act of current music and audience
participation. Great fun for the price of a drink. Definitely will be back. Next day went
to Red Rock Canyon for the 11 mile drive ($5/car) and that was a nice break
from the action. Then off to Green Valley Ranch where we had the dinner buffet
(good and 1/2 price if you sign up at rewards club), and visited the Drop
Bar, Fado’s Irish pub and the Whiskey. GV casino is nice but if you aren’t
winning there, then you don’t have a lot of options to change your luck. Next day
was gambling day at IP (OK), Harrah’s (not so good), Barbary Coast (good),
Caesar’s (very good), interrupted by lunch at Spago’s in the Forum Shops for
people watching and good food. Then, more play at the Riviera (OK), Slots-of-Fun
(OK)($1 bottle beer), and Sahara (very good). Mostly played craps, BJ, and
VP, with occasional 3 card poker. Did the Mac King show at Harrah’s with 2-1
coupon (very entertaining), and sat at the Carnaval Court for drinks and more
good entertainment. If you are staying on west side of the IP, be prepared to
rock out until the Carnaval Court closes for the night. Then went to Ellis
Island for steak dinner deal ($6.95)(but the casino is dreadful with few tables
and “house” rules in BJ – won’t go there again), Westin Causarina (great
rewards deal for new members of $30 free slot play which we converted to $42), and
then downtown for $.99 shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate (+ best craps this trip
in LV with $3 min. bet and shooter that rolled for 35 minutes making everybody
happy), Golden Nugget (OK), Horseshoe (sad), and Four Queens (good VP). All
in all, great tips from the newsletter to try, even if they didn’t all pan
out. But hey, it’s LV and there is always something new to check out. Next
time, Wynn’s. Thanks for the ideas.

Re: [Everythinglasvegas] Everything Las Vegas: Issue # 498
Just got back from our trip to Vegas, April 5th to the 9th. We went with
another couple & stayed at the Flamingo. We were very satisfied with our rooms;
got exactly what we requested, poolside, adjoining rooms, and even had
complimentary fruit baskets in each of our rooms. So the trip started out great.
Flew Southwest from Buffalo, non-stop. As far as the gambling, worst trip
ever! I play slots & video poker, hubby plays the tables & some slots. Couldn’t
win a thing at the Flamingo. Also tried Bally’s, O’Shea’s, Harrah’s, Slots
Royale, Imperial Palace…none of us had any luck. Headed downtown Friday night
for the “Mardi Gras”. Had a couple of good bands, but other than that,
nothing much. Tried our luck at the Golden Nugget, Lady Luck, Binion’s….nothing!
We were really disappointed with Binion’s. It’s very dark & dreary. The
Golden Nugget with packed, but mostly with young, boisterous people partying. To
top it off, we got caught in a really bad wind, rain and hail storm. Trying
to get a cab with that going on was a trip in itself!! Everyone wanted one at
the same time. We practically had to run into the middle of the street to
catch one. The weather was crazy on this trip. It was in the high 70’s
Thursday afternoon and we decided to walk over to Bally’s in the evening and we froze
our butts off! Heading back home on a Saturday wasn’t a good idea either.
We waited in line at the airport for at least 2 hours. A lot of people on
other flights missed their flights because of the wait. To top it off, our
biggest piece of luggage was lost. Hoping it’ll show up in the morning. There were
about 10 other people who lost luggage too, and it was a non-stop flight.
Well, what can I say, could have been better, could have been worse. Hopefully
the next trip will be better.
